It is further alluded to and makes insignificant appearances in numerous other threads as it is an item Dissero keeps on him at all times.

Manufacturer: Dissero
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Dissero
Modularity: Information can be easily added to and altered within the Keycron at will, but only by Dissero himself. The metal housing is segmented and can be switched out for alterations. Any physical alterations made is a rather delicate and time consuming process requiring the skills and knowledge of an Alchemist and Master Holocron Crafter.
Production: Unique
Material: Alchemized durasteel. Crystalline latice. Holocron matrices. 1 mustafarian diamond soaked in the Darkside pools of Byss.

Description: About one third the size of a normal holocron, Dissero’s Keycron was the third holocron to be crafted successfully by the Alchemist during his Knighthood and improved upon over several years into his Mastership. Upon receiving the title of Master of Vaults by former Empress Desmius in the days of The Sith Empire, Dissero was tasked with the mission of creating a larger, more secure vault for the Empire. He crafted the Keycron primarily as a means to restrict access to the higher profile artifacts and items within the new vaults on Rudrig.

The Keycron is about the size of a large walnut and though it began as a pyramid during its initial stages on Rudrig housing only a simple crystal, it was later altered into a cube to fit the mustafarian diamond gifted to him by his father, Avicus Dusang, and to accommodate the need for more faces in order to access other vaults. The metal housing is brassy in appearance due to the Alchemical processes undergone to make the material indestructible in order to protect the diamond within. Four faces of the Keycron hold clockwork-like mechanisms crafted to fit into four separate “keyholes.” It hangs on an alchemized chain that Dissero wears at all times.

The diamond is Force-attuned specifically to Dissero’s Force presence and will not accept information or allow alterations to the knowledge held within by anyone but himself. To engage the holocron for the information stored within one must first be Force-Sensitive and second have the password. As a reflection of himself, the gatekeeper maintains Dissero’s courteous yet paranoid demeanor and is not particularly open to divulging its secrets to just anyone. It passes judgement on the user's Force presence and intentions through a series of questions that vary from person to person. The moment it suspects foul-play the gatekeeper locks down. Should the Keycron come into possession of another PC I will write the Gatekeeper for them.

Contents of the Keycron range from [incomplete] research notes, to key locations related to his research, random notations for projects, notes on various artifacts he works with, and likely a grocery and to-do list. The Keycron was not and is not intended to be the main holocron of the Alchemist as it is limited to how much information can be stored on it, but instead is used as a quick record and easy storage of pertinent details when the times and conditions necessitate it and where using a full holocron is inconvenient. Its contents are altered regularly.

The Keycron’s main use is that of a key to his heart numerous vaults, but having only the physical key is not enough. Each vault also has its own specific password that one must recite in order to activate the key clockwork. Without the passwords the Keycron is useless. There are no repercussions to not having the password other than not getting what you were after and a lot of wasted time and effort. Though there is only one Keycron in existence it is not impossible to replicate should it become lost or somehow destroyed, but would be very difficult and time consuming to do so. Dissero maintains molds and schematics to each face and to the Keycron itself, although finding a Mustafarian Diamond of the same pristine quality will likely prove very difficult and pricey.

Strengths:

Alchemized Housing & Chain - renders the Keycron indestructible.
Force-Attuned to Dissero - offers further protection against abuse by others.
Requires Passwords - useless in the hands of those who do not have them.
Modifiable Keyfaces - Able to be modified for “upgrades” should a Keyface require alteration, or should a new one be necessary.
Small - easily concealed as a simple trinket to the unwary or ignorant.

Weaknesses:

Limited Storage Capability - Though the core diamond’s flawless quality is capable of holding a fair amount of information, it cannot compare to the complexity of a full holocron. It’s limitations are great enough that it can only really be used for minor, temporary storage.
Vulnerability - When not locked within the alchemized housing, the diamond itself is vulnerable to damage and even destruction.
Rarity of Materials - Mustafarian diamonds of this quality are a rare find, as well the alchemized material must be crafted anew for any type of alteration.
Requires High Quality Natural Crystal or Diamond to Work - Should the current diamond be destroyed, Dissero must find another natural crystal or diamond of the same flawless quality for it to work. Synthetically crafted crystals have proven incapable of withstanding the Darkside power the Keycron channels in order to activate the locks of his vaults.

Boy, this sure seems familiar.

Alright... This seems to be one part over-complicated flash drive and one part over-complicated keychain.

Can I get an edit to "Master Alchemist or Master Holocron Crafter"

or a 10-post dev thread set in the past where this is created

or find me 3 more posts where this object is specifically mentioned, used, or described.

In addition to the above, can you please include details on what another Force User would have to do to crack into this holocron? (as well as some more description on what happens if an individual gives the wrong password... or... something similar.)

If you do the 10 post dev thread, you get to make the item super hard to crack into. Otherwise... please be reasonable with your description of requirements.

Edits made:

Any physical alterations made is a rather delicate and time consuming process requiring the skills and knowledge of an Alchemist and Master Holocron Crafter.
While I have altered this to being simply an "Alchemist" it must be "and", not "or." One cannot make a Holocron themselves without both the knowledge of Alchemy (crystallurgy and some minor metals alchemy at the very least) and Holocron Crafting. A holocron of this complexity and caliber would require the skills of a Master Holocron crafter to alter, which shouldn't be an issue considering altering the holocron's exterior is of no use to anyone (but Dissero himself) simply because any alteration would void it's original intended purpose of accessing Dissero's vaults. Why would you want to change the only key to a vast and invaluable treasure?

For engaging the holocron itself.

For what happens if one does not have the password.

As far as "cracking into" it, holocrons don't really work that way. They aren't physical safes that you can lockpick or break open to get the goodies inside. The only way to get the information out of a holocron is to interact with the Gatekeeper, as taken directly from the Wiki:

"Gatekeeper" was the term used for the artificial personality that granted a user access to the information within a holocron. The gatekeeper was usually based upon the creator of the particular holocron. The gatekeepers of Sith holocrons were sometimes the consciousnesses of the certain Sith who actually created them.
Famous Jedi gatekeepers included Bodo Baas and, much later, Luke Skywalker. They taught the finders of the holocron everything that the creator had discovered in their life. The gatekeeper itself held access to whatever information was hidden inside, and chose whether or not the student using it was worthy of the holocron's knowledge. While the gatekeeper was unlikely to find someone unworthy, it could refuse to teach them more until it decided they had mastered what it had already taught them. The gatekeepers of Sith Holocrons were known not to limit access to the holocron's information, often teaching the user things that were far too dangerous and advanced for them, that would more often than not lead to their destruction.
