Not open for further replies.
Name: Diska Merci

Region: Mid rim edge of republic space and old hutt space up and to the left of nal hutta

System: Daalang System

Suns: Merci (white dwarf)

Orbital Position: The largest moon orbiting Gaz

Moons: Small mining and processing station for the the planet below. It also serves as a docking station ships that can’t enter atmosphere

System Features: There is an asteroid belt around the sun where the closest planet in the system used to be. This promoted the planet from Gaz II to just Gaz.

Rotational Period: 16.5 hours
Orbital Period: 5.4 earth years

Class: The planet below is a small gas giant. The moon is terrestrial.
.
Diameter: 3238.8 mile diameter

Atmosphere: Atmosphere type One

Climate: It rains every night the moisture in the air condensing in the cold of the dark. The water filters quickly down into the underground lakes where it is heated and pumped back into the atmosphere during the day. Day time is hot and dry as the moisture is brought into the upper atmosphere. The light is sometimes reflected of the planet below increasing the light from sunset to full day every now and then.

Gravity: Due to the intensity of the mineral deposits and the various celestial bodies the gravity varies between .84 standard and 1.37 standard at its most extremes.

Primary Terrain: Mostly grassland plateaus with hot spring oasis deserts speckled across the landscape.

Native Species: Mercerian grass and insects. No sentient life.

Mercerian mites: Omnivores, these mites will take any chance to vary their diet and feed on the salt rich blood of larger creatures. Their bites are very small and only occasionally bleed but are visible and look like small pockmarks on the skin. Incredibly irritating but nonlethal in all cases. Tends to reside in the native grass but can become an infestation on improperly taken care of live stock.

Mercerian grass: Is a very effective weed and good food for most plant eating species of cattle. The plant tends to drain mineral content in exchange for the calories given so it is necessary for the cattle to drink from mercerian salt oasis regularly. The grass can be used to clean minerals out of water. Tastes incredibly earthy but can be consumed by humanoids if they want to.

Mercerian Pool trees: These trees collect large amounts of water in a hollow bowl formations along the trunk with the largest one at the top of the tree trunk. They mix the water with there sweet, fragrant, but slightly toxic nectar to attract some of the local species. The nectar is toxic and causes intestinal distress leading to vomiting and diarrhea(thus fertilization of the tree by local species, both in the soil enrichment and the way the trees procreate.) These symptoms are much more severe in humanoids and invasive species then in the local fauna. Though toxic if ingested the nature of the nectar makes it a decent soap for hand washing and in the biggest trees even a bath. The pools are filtered of organic debris with digestive enzymes that die quickly once dry. These trees are fairly rare with only one existing in about 5 square miles at minimum, the average being closer to 20 square miles. They have very thick trunks and grow about 50 feet tall.

Mercerian Apox: About the size of a coyote, these quick predators are swarm animals that hunt the local herbivores. A cross between grasshoppers and mantids these beasts are fast, mobile and vicious. They are also pretty delicious but have a very high metal content as everything they can't process is put into their carapace. Bite the wrong part and you might as well be chewing on a speeder. Since the invasion of colonists they tend to hunt the new prey on their land since they are not evolved to defend against them. With new materials arriving on the world it has led to the emergence of variants in carapace coloring and make up. They swarm in groups of up to 40 members. If a swarm gets too big an instinct is activated that causes them to start killing each other when they run out of food, culling the swarm of the weak and elderly and leaving it full of the best. This was taken advantage of by the colonists in the first cleansing of the land as they would herd them into massive groups with speeders then give them a minimal amount of food to eat, sending them into a frenzy of blood lust. Once the land was settled by colonists these swarms quickly rebuilt their numbers and hunt on the plains as they did before.

Mercerian Mahs: These giant beetle-like herbivores used to dot the plains of Diska Merci. Much reduced now there herds travel in lands away from civilization. When cornered can use its wings to make big hops across the landscape. Can also create a burst of wind to blow away predators or lay down on the ground and be protected by their thick shells. Have the ability to shed a leg or two to distract predators. A few of the land owners have kept local herds to explore their uses as cattle. They store large amounts of oil and minerals in there thorax under their shells as a stored food.

Immigrated Species: A mix of various farming cultures.

Primary Languages: Galactic standard basic, with various phrases from other languages popping in to say hello. A distinct accent has developed.

Government: An Oligarchy with each fief having a provisional government appointed by the land owner.

Population: .5 billion. very sparsely populated in certain areas with very few cities.

Demonym: Mercerian

Major Imports: Cattle raising equipment and mining gear.

Major Exports: Mercerian Salt, Cattle, Meats, Animal byproducts.

Affiliation: Officially a republic colony. In reality owned by the Hutts.

Notable NPCs:
Krona The Hutt: This Hutt gives the appearance of a pretty (for a hutt), Homegrown, clueless goody two shoes. She is actually an incredibly shrewd businesswoman and has used this image/persona to maximize profits. Treats her employees reasonably well and is a decent person. Because of this image she is the most picked on of the landowners but she is quick to respond in kind when her livelihood is threatened.

Firkann: This cheap, dirty bastard owns the megafarm and only cares about profits. If he can steal some from his neighbors he definitely will and he hires thieves and brigands to do just that. He treats everyone and everything as an expendable resource and throws them away once he’s milked them dry. Uses indentured servants for most of his employees with a couple of mercenary overseers. Proud wearer of an evil waxed mustache which he can often be seen twisting while being devious. For reference is black since humans need more description than aliens do.

Pelant: A purple Zeltron businessman who owns the largest swath of land. Ruthless and cutthroat his employees are an effective private army used to protect his land. He spares no expense when it comes to his business and it shows. He is an expert on a variety of species and their personal needs and has very good business relationships with all his clients. He assures quality above all else.

Major Locations:

Petit Merci: the biggest city on the planet. This is where the only atmosphere leaving ships dock. This city is actually a city, but primitive compared to places like Coruscant. It has architecture similar to 1940’s New York. Fancy Speeders can be seen in the Downtown Business sector but as you move out from there the technology continually decreases. Largest population density due to the abundance of jobs.

Wildlife Reserve: This large swath of land is where research on local flora and fauna is held by scientists. This land is fenced in and still has a majority of the natural wildlife there with very few invasive species crossing over due to the voracity of the local species.

Piat Junction: A larger company town. As suggested in the name it exists on a point where three property owners borders cross. A dangerous place if you don’t know what you're doing due to the innate animosity between the employees of the various landowners. It is declared neutral territory but once the town line is crossed hell can often break lose, and occasionally get jiggy with it.

Krona The Hutts DairyLand: Krona the Hutt’s land is the nicest place to live. Everything is fat and well taken care of to produce high quality animal byproduct. Her employees gather the animal by-products by hand. She has a a lot of varied herds with several species of animal occupying her land.

Krona’s Crossing: A town that grew up while building a bridge across a canyon. This town is the Capital of Krona the Hutts DairyLand. The cattle raised here is free roam and you can see them eating to their hearts content on the prairie below.

Firkann’s Megafarm: This territory is owned by a meat processor human named Firkann. He uses the land to the maximum potential leading to bad living conditions for his employees and over population from his herds.

Wasteland: This is a town that’s name changed with it’s use. This is on the human Firkann’s property and has been turned into a dump for his broken machines and waste products. The landscape is dotted with piles of leftover carcasses from his meat processing plant and there is a huge junkyard in the town full of destroyed machines. This is where the poorest of the poor live, as they can scrape out a living from salvaging and can get food if they're lucky enough to get a fresh carcass. The people here tend to be mean spirited due to their terrible living conditions.

Mining territory: This area is owned by a mining conglomerate and has left the surface natural resources untouched. Due to this cattle drivers will often bring their herds here to have them give their own property a rest and time to recuperate from the herds feasting. This is very illegal and and because of that its a dangerous place where you have to watch your back for thieves. If they take anything by force it’s very hard to complain to the authorities.

Oasis: Is a sandy, dusty, salty town in the Mining Distract. Built over the biggest salt water hot spring collection on the surface. This area is where a lot of the miners live and hang out after hours. It is also where cattle rustlers will stop by to quench there herds thirst as well as their own. This town exists half on a plateau and half underground, inside one. It has been carved out of the rock as part of a first test mining operation that didn't pan out. A decent place to live, the people here are often loud and boisterous from having to work in isolated conditions and often just want to blow off steam.

Pelant’s Husbandry Land: This territory is owned by the mysterious Pelant and is dedicated to the production of elite and superior genetic lines of animals. He sells pets, working animals, warbeasts, competition animals and much more. A lot of the work is private contract and he rents out space to his clients for most of the services provided. His employees are the most violent when it comes to protecting his animals because they have a lot of money to lose if things go wrong.

Menagerie: This is the main town in Pelant’s property dedicated to showcasing his animals. Designed for big bucks rich people and investors this town has the most money sunk into it for appearances and technological amenities. No violence whatsoever is allowed and access is incredibly restricted.

Culture: Old west style with evil landowners, cattle stealing brigands and out of luck prospectors. Everybody there has the manifest destiny vibe. Due to the abundance of open land people will travel out into the wild to try and find a homestead. While the moon has decent technology its culture is that of the old west. Competition in property ownership is fierce and leads to a bending of the law in almost everyone if not the down right breaking if it.

Technology: Greatly varies from property to property from extremely modern technology to about 1880’s technology. This is in reference to the amenities provided by the landowners. Personal technology is as much as they can afford.

History: Originally found by an autonomous cataloging droid this planet has been sitting around unexploited for a very long time. Owned by the Hutts who saw no use in the planet in initial surveys without terra forming. Was recently (within the last 50 years or so) purchased by a young ambitious spice headed Hutt for the sole purpose of growing and mining various forms of spice. It was soon discovered that the Mercerian Salt was too volatile to transport in solid form making it outrageously expensive to ship appropriate quantities for drug use. Also to his dismay the local plant and bug population was too aggressive and destroyed any invading plant species with extreme prejudice. Embarrassed by his bad purchase he sold it to the republic as a ranching colony. Once it was discovered that Mercerian salt had medicinal properties mining companies moved in. The land was sold to various people of prominence with a section cordoned off for the natural flora and fauna as a reserve. Due to the enormous abundance of land not all of it has been sold yet and each property can vary greatly in technology and and living conditions. Upon arrival a lot of the colonists were hired to hunt down the local fauna to make the land more accessible by big companies. This lead to an over hunting of the local herd animal the mahs. This in turn lead to an explosion of attacks against the colonist by the starving swarms of apox. Which led to more hunting. Once they had cleared a large enough area of animal life the companies moved in and elected to create a wildlife reserve as a sort of goodwill gesture.

Notable PCs: Sor’row Fae

Intent: This planet was created to give additional background for my character Sor’row Fae. Once i started however it was hard to stop so i kept going and created an old west roleplaying ground for people that like that sort of thing. I might make a map eventually but i doubt it.

Like I mentioned in my other post. Major locations need a one paragraph minimum per location. History needs to be expanded out more. What happened before the planet was bought and sold? Any wars? What about the bug population, how did the citizens handle it? Like I also said, the salt will need the vanilla tech form and be submitted in tech due to its healing and explosive properties.

Gahh sorry just found the tech thread. I figured i would move it my self and update it with everything necessary tonight. Thanks for having my back and helping out a newbie i appreciate it.
