He tapped the table, a little impatiently but there was a deliberant motive. Things had slowed down, the emerald eyes were studying and his nose was discerning the differing scents in the room.
"Seems someone might be losing that bravado." Aileni teased in his deep voice, adding a level of cockiness and confidence that wasn't usually there. This was someone who gambled for a living, someone who used charm and charisma to undermine opponents and come out on top. It was the attitude of a smuggler and criminal. "If you keep hesitating like this, I might as well just take all those chips now." Aileni added, stifling a false yawn as he leaned back in the chair. Giving the dealer a smirk and wink. Knowing all too well that this was going to play exactly into his hand.
The opponent twitched and then pushed his chips into the centre of the table. Aileni raised an eyebrow, "all in? My, my. What a brilliant bold move." Aileni placed his cards faced down and pushed his own chips into the centre of the table. "Best hope you win this, I doubt your wife would be pleased if you lost to me again." Aileni joked, his voice sharp but playful in a manner as he spoke. Knowing all too well who this opponent is and what the cost of defeat would mean. But indebted criminals were always going to be useful to him, someone to give him credibility, someone to pressure for work or to open doors. It was why the young Shadow found himself on Nar Shaddaa. He needed to develop more of a reputation, more connections. The missions he had been attempting to do were not bearing the fruit that he falsely hoped that they would.
"Just shut up already!" The Rodian growled in his native tongue, Aileni shrugged and demonstrated he understood. The Rodian then revealed his hand, "Pure Sabacc, I win! Finally!" The glee in the voice was unmistakeable but as he reached for the pot, Aileni leaned forward and placed his cards on top.
It was an Idiot's Array. "Seems I take all this home. What a lucky night for me." The crowd gasps in shock, some cheering for Aileni since he had been on a hot streak with the sabacc but playing people seemed all too easy. Especially the more desperate that they appeared to be.
"Impossible! That's... He cheated! Cheater!" The Rodian cried out.
Aileni rose to his full height, his face darkening as his emerald eyes narrowed, "you want to call me a cheater, right here? I played fair, and I risked it all on that last draw. I also knew what you had because you twitch and sweat like a Kowakian lizard-monkey. So, apologise or we take this outside, and the odds of survival there are far less than you winning another game." There was a calm, dark threat to his voice, no anger or raised voice. Just the clear understanding that he would not tolerate claims of cheating. The Rodian whimpered and scampered off. Clearly backing down and Aileni rolled his head, letting the quiet fury release from him. The air was still tense from what Aileni had threatened and he grabbed a handful of chips and handed them over to the dealer.
"Let the bar know next round for everyone is on me." Aileni gave a flirtatious smile to the male dealer who coughed as he blushed and nodded his head.
Free drinks always did tend to lighten the mood.
