Private Diplomatic Interactions

"Diplomacy on Koldut"
Time: 12:00, Noon at the Palace
Tags: Kyyrk Kyyrk
Area: Kalas family royal palace, Koldut.

Three knocks could be heard coming from the Queens chamber door as her adviser would begin calling out. "Your Majesty, the diplomat is coming in soon, are you almost finished?" Of course by this time the queen was simply finishing applying her makeup; an action she.. didn't have to do but for a visitor like this she wanted to look her very best. "Yes, yes.. I'm almost finished. Karina, you may come in; I'll need help putting my dress on." She laughed as she went back to applying her makeup. Of course It wouldn't be long before her Adviser walked into the room and sat on the stool behind her, watching the queen finish up her routine. "Your Majesty, you look absolutely beautiful." She said with a smile as she prepared the queens dress, a new off the shoulder empire waist dress with an ornate design on the back.

Of course it took them a good five minutes to finish putting everything on before the adviser stepped back and smiled to her queen. "You'll be fine your Majest-" She would be cut off by Maria as Maria simply smiled to her. "Karina, you've looked over me since I was born.. you don't need to call me Your Majesty all the time.. Call me Maria ok?" The older, adviser laughed a bit as she looked to Maria. "Alright.. Maria" She smiled as Maria put away her things. "Well, lead the way Karina" Maria said as she sighed a bit; of course she was a tad nervous as it had been forever since Koldut engaged in foreign diplomacy, always taking an isolationist view in terms of diplomacy while letting trade be its only communication with the outside galaxy. So it could be said that Maria was nervous as she had nothing to prepare to.

Nonetheless, Maria and her adviser, followed by a group of six guards approached and arrived at the landing zone where their guest was to land at. The Pad was surrounded by the forest that guarded the outside of the palace, and by the ocean that half of the pad hung right over. The waves from the ocean, and the breeze that cruised in calmed Maria down but she was still.. slightly nervous. But, she knew she'd do fine, she was a charismatic soul and these interactions were always a smooth operation for her; therefore she had nothing to worry about.. well, only if it was just that easy.

It was nearing noon in the palace region on Koldut. And it was to this scene that Voph's shuttle peeled through the sky. The Obsidian Lance cut through the thin layers of the upper atmosphere as the frame of the Desolation faded behind them. Voph had offered fair warning, to be sure, that he would be traveling via his flagship. But the impressive vessel of war hung in orbit alone. This was a diplomatic venture, of course. No need to bring a full escort. But at the same time, this was contact with a previously isolationist world. A world on the edges of Confederate Space. One that Voph was now visiting on behalf of both his own world, and the Confederacy as a whole.

The shuttle touched down mere moments later at the designated landing point. Voph could see, even from his seat within the cabin of the shuttle, that there was already a party waiting for them. And given the garb among them, he guessed he was being greeted by Queen Kalas herself. Voph stood, and checked that his lightsabers were in place on his belt. Then, he ran both hands down the front of his armor, smoothing the robe against the breastplate underneath. His midnight hair was immaculately groomed, and pulled back into a tight pony tail. The black band of cloth across his eyes freshly laundered, and nearly shining in the noon light.

As the landing ramp of the shuttle lowered, Voph paused at the top of the ramp. Two armored figures stepped down before him, the first carrying a rifle, the second carrying an ornately decorated wooden box, and wearing his rifle on his back. They broke their single-file formation, and stood to either side of the ramp, the one carrying the rifle taking a position to the left. Then, in unison, they knelt, heads bowing in respect to the monarch they now knelt before. As Voph began to emerge from the shadows above, the left-most soldier, a captain of sorts, judging by the extra embellishments on his armor, began to speak.

"Your Majesty, Your time and audience is appreciated. Hailing from the Confederate world of Vylmira, I present Darth Voph, Lord Vizier of the Knights Obsidian, High Councilor of Vylmira, and High Admiral of the Octarchy Covenant."

As Voph stepped into the light, his armor was revealed, the metal plates shining in the light, and the cloth of his robes gleaming. Though the cloth was torn and sundered, it did not hold the air of neglect. Rather, it gave an air of age and experience to the man, who carried himself as one who had seen many wars, and the scar running from his chin, along his nose, and disappearing into his hairline, lent credence to this. And yet, Voph appeared to be no older than the being before him, to whom he bowed deeply, bringing his right hand to his chest. "Your Majesty. You honor me by inviting me to speak with you, today. I am eager to see how we may both benefit our worlds through our meeting."

Of course a chill ran down the spine of the young Monarch as the shuttle approached and the ship in orbit was in few due to its massive size. However, she kept herself calm.. this was the big leagues she thought, no more small time interactions with her local planetary governors, or the district officers of the KEC.. this was her first.. foreign interaction with another powerful body in the galaxy, what happens here will permanently change and effect the path that Koldut will be on for the rest of its history. Her actions today would go on to shape the lifestyle of future Koldutian generations.. of course, those were only the small thoughts in the young Monarchs head.. would she be looking into the window of fortune, or knocking upon the door of extinction with this interaction.. only time could tell for her.

However, as the ship touched down she breathed out.. putting on her best smile, and prepared for anything. Likewise, as the shuttle opened up and the two soldiers stepped out, and paid respect she nodded back smiling to them.. and.. as Voph exited his shuttle, the real tension shot up for Maria.. of course she was feeling calm; and the breeze coming the ocean was a rather soothing one but, something put her on edge, and.. to be frank it was simply the factor that this was it.

"Thank you.. The honor is mine, its a pleasure to have you here and I can't wait to see what we can make out of this meeting." She said with a smile and a bow as she gestured to him to follow. And with that, she walked to the meeting chambers of the palace.. of course, as they walked through the halls, on the walls were a few paintings of course, and ornate designs lining each wall. However, probably the most interesting thing in the hall were two artifacts, both old sith relects collected by her ancestor Gaius on his travels to Korriban. Although, Maria gave no attention to them as they arrived in the meeting room; a personal study like room with a desk a few bookshelfs lining the walls.

Of course Maria took a seat at her desk chair and instructed her adviser karina to pull up another chair for Voph to sit down at.
"So, where shall we begin?.. Simple introductions?" She said with a smile.

Voph fell in step as he was instructed to do so, the two soldiers with him rising from their positions to follow. They flanked Voph, the soldier carrying the box hanging back ever so slightly from the other two. Voph paid no heed to the decorations on the walls, though his head did turn slightly at the pair of artifacts. Not some that he recognized. As he was ushered to a seat, Voph gestured towards the desk, where the box-laden soldier stepped forward to deposit his load. He reached across, and unsnapped the clasp, now facing Maria, before stepping back to join his partner at the doorway, both standing at attention just to the left of the entry way.

Voph raised a hand to decline the young Monarch's offer of introductions. "A pleasantry we have explored in enough depth, I feel. You have already learned enough of who I am, and I will not bore you with the tales of what I have been. Suffice it to say that, as previously said, I hold the office of Lord Vizier within the Confederacy, and High Councilor of my home planet of Vylmira." Voph gestured to the box upon the desk, now ready for the young monarch to simply lift the lid. "As is fitting, I have come bearing a gift for your majesty. Perhaps not something of immediate worth to you, but I can assure you, its price is worth that of the vessel upon which I arrived, in the right hands."

Within the box, a Lightsaber sat. The metal a pure silver sheen, and the hilt offering an excellent heft, with every line and curve immaculately carved and crafted. It was truly a masterwork of an item, and seemed a perfect shade of elegant for a monarch to wield. "It is my understanding that you have expressed an interest in the Confederacy and her workings. I have been sent to speak with you on her behalf, and to see how we may render aid to you and your people."

Of course the young Monarch smiled as she interacted with Voph, paying deep attention to the way she spoke.. while also giving some attention to the box as it was sat down near her. Nonetheless, her first amazement was his title.. by the looks of it he was a man with a long resume, and someone to be respected in conversation. Next to that, as he spoke about the box.. and then opened it she was instantly drawn in. Of course; she had her ancestors saber but.. it had long been destroyed and the only thing that remained was the crystal from the old saber; therefore.. this new item would do greatly in her collection as she was to learn more about the force.

Nonetheless as the Lord Vizier, and High Chancellor finished off Maria looked back to him before breathing out to let some chills run free. "Well, first of all I have to say your gift that you have presented will be cherished by me.. My ancestors saber from before had been destroyed due to an accident in Valdac city.. So having a new saber to give his old crystal life, well I cant vocalize how much joy this gift brings me.. so Thank you." She said with a rather genuine smile as she looked to Voph; even if he couldn't see her smile, a sense of happiness and real joy was emanating off her. Likewise though she began to get to the real business, the meal of this meeting.

"Now, you would be correct in saying that I have been interested in knowing the inter-workings of the Confederacy. Of course, As the Monarch of this world.. I only wish the best for my people; therefore, with the Confederacy being the strongest and most powerful neighbor to my world, its very obvious that an alliance.. or even flat-out joining the Confederacy would be beneficial to both sides." Of course, she spoke as she looked to Voph, intrigued by what he had to say. To be frank she just wanted to know what the confederacy was all about, and, if it was something that would benefit her people; she'd be all on board to join.

Voph smiled, nodding quietly as she spoke of her feelings on his gift. "I am glad that you find value in such a thing. I, too, have felt the loss of a blade all too keenly. Twas a gift for my lordship. Some three hundred years old, even when I took possession of it. Shattered in a duel, I'm afraid. Never was able to fix the internal workings. But the case resides quite happily in a case behind my desk." Voph instinctively frowned as he said this. He hadn't seen that saber in years. In fact he'd lost it....He couldn't even remember. But either way, He knew it had not survived his exit from the Sith Empire.

Voph shook his head, lifting the fingers of his right hand in a silent plea of forgiveness. "My apologies, Your Majesty. The past is a great and terrifying beast in which I find myself lost entirely too often." He smiled simply as the conversation turned to the Confederacy. The reason he was here. "The Confederacy is my home. And this is not a statement I make lightly. They follow a tolerance I cannot ever recall bearing witness to in all my decades. Their ideals inspire a certain loyalty. From both myself, and my men. And, so long as their standards are upheld, the Confederacy is content to sit and watch while the planets conduct their own business. For a time, I served as both leader and Viceroy of my own planet, and upon the appointment of a new viceroy to Vylmira, I have found her a great boon to our workings. Even if I played a hand in her selection."

Voph picked his right leg up to rest his ankle on his knee as he leaned back in his chair. Now that the formalities were finished, he seemed to be falling into a more...authoritative role. In sharp contrast to Maria, he was as calm as could be. This was no great event to him. This was merely Thursday. "You would keep your position as Queen, even if you should decline to run for Viceroy. And the Viceroy could hold what position on your world you deem fit. In your case, I would imagine an adviser. But, beyond the political aspects, each planet is welcomed to host their own defense force, or they may seek protection from the Confederate Defense Force. I have seen a number of battles among their number, and I can think of no force I would rather have beside me."

His brow creased as his head tilted, seeming to study the monarch as he turned to his last topic of discussion. "You, also, may take interest in our order of the Knights Obsidian. Your...typical gathering of Force Sensitives and Disciples, but a rather open minded one, and kind to the ideals of many. Not as...close minded or foolish as the Sith or Jedi." There was a trace of venom in his tone as he spoke of the Sith. In spite of holding their highest title, he did not seem to care for the ancient religion much. "I myself oversee one of these schools as the role of Lord Vizier. The Acanthus. Those that seek balance or neutrality through the force. Or, like myself, have seen the Force at its core, and realize the childish nature of assuming morality within the Force itself..."

Of course - Maria.. somewhat loved this interaction, even if it was through small cuts of his past; and through the showing of his body language, Maria felt; well.. Comfortable. Along with that; the talk of lost and led to Maria feeling a connection to this man that she just met. Nonetheless; as he continued on she felt excited to listen to Voph as he explained to her the benefits and structure of the Confederacy. At first the idea of the Viceroy slightly confused her and.. turned her off from the idea of the Confederacy, however, as it was explained she nodded her head in taste of idea and continued listening in. Finally though as Voph finished up she crossed her fingers and smiled to him.

Nevertheless; she started off "Well.. I'd like to first of all say you have no reason to Apologize.. I know the past can.. be a mountain to climb in grief sometimes.. I mean, there's a reason why I'm the Queen at such a young age" She silently let out a small chuckle as head tilted down.. then back up to Voph. "The loss of an item, or another's life can leave a scar that not even bacta can heal. But.. something I've learned that heals those wounds is to not ignore them; use the past as an inspiration as no friend or family would wish sadness upon you... To be frank, I use my fathers life as an inspiration for what I strive to be; respect the existence of something rather than mourn the loss.. so, being able to recover something from the saber is what brings joy to me." She spoke as she paused for a bit. Of course, she was probably saying things that he had heard before but; she just wanted to speak her mind, it was defiantly a subject she was passionate about.

Nonetheless, She cut herself off before she got to the main subject at hand. "Anyways, on terms of the Confederacy - I'm.. leaning to joining; I feel it would be beneficial to the people of Koldut; and economically joining the Confederacy would bolster our trade, and open us up to new routes and lines. However; I will say I most likely won't run for the position of Viceroy, I have duties as the protector and sovereign of Koldut. Likewise though, my Adviser Karina; who.. isn't here as of now would do greatly as a Viceroy; she has experience in both economics and diplomacy as she served as my fathers adviser before me." Of course she spoke highly of Karina as.. she was an excellent adviser and deserved a position like this.

"But to finish up; for one, we most likely won't need the Confederate Defense forces to work in our sector as our fleet will do for our position. Of course; its not big or anything.. but, we're an outer rim world in the middle of nowhere. I doubt any powerful forces will specifically target us. Therefore, our fleet will do for the time. Now, to finish; the force order you spoke of interested me.. As someone who has been interested by the force and its beauties and ways, I want to take on a teacher; someone who can show me the ways of the force and how to control it.. and if your order can do so then I'm interested. And thus fore she finished speaking, she straightened her dress as she looked to Voph waiting for a response to her rambling.

Voph bowed his head momentarily as Maria referenced the death of her father. "You have my sympathies, Your Majesty. I am sure your father was a noble man, and one well worth his position." Voph lifted a dismissive hand as he continued. "I, however, place no more importance to a lightsaber than a favored tool. Though a lightsaber may be more agreeable, nothing shall ever compare to the loss of a loved one." Voph's head canted slightly, as he listened to what the young monarch had to say about joining the Confederacy. He understood her desire to refrain from holding the Viceroyalty position. He himself only took it out of obligation to his people, and bringing peace to an otherwise chaotic planet. But now that the dust had settled, and Vylmira was prospering once again, he had gladly relented the position. And, to an extend, found himself looking forward to a day when his duty as High Councilor was finished as well.

"A fine choice, in the Knights Obsidian. A noble order, if, perhaps, unsure of itself. But all in due time. There are a number of individuals I could think would be suited and recommended to train you. From Knights, to Masters, and even some of my fellow Obsidian Lords." And yet no reference was made to himself. While he certainly maintained the air of acceptance, it was clear that he was, for whatever reason, blatantly avoiding the subject of overseeing a personal training himself. "What separates the Obsidian from the other disciplines in the galaxy is that we do not limit ourselves to a single narrow view, but rather open our eyes to all possibilities. As such, four schools have been established. The Lotus, following the teachings of the Jedi, and finding peace with the so-called Light of the Force. The Thorn, following more closely the teachings of the Sith, and drawing power from the Force, and immersing one's self in the Dark. The Mandragora, following the teachings of Dathomir, and the Nightsisters that reside within. Ritualistic and mysterious, they see the Force as a magic to be invoked, rather than a power to be called upon."

Voph paused to allow the girl time to digest this information. He, of course, had already spoken of his own school, and the function it served. "If training is what you seek, the Obsidian can provide. They have given shelter to me when I was lost. Without their guidance I would be just another tool of war, a relic of a bygone era. A suitable master among the Obsidian is not a question, but rather a certainty. It is merely a question of which one you will chose, or which one will claim you as an apprentice."

Of course Maria listened in with interest to Voph; She wanted to learn about the Obsidian knights, and what they had to offer. It was a moment of self want; she wanted to learn more about the force and how to use it.. however; she knew she was too busy to leave the planet, and had too much responsibility to give interest to something like joining the Obsidian knights. Nonetheless, she began to think as Voph finished speaking; of course what was going through her mind were thoughts of the confederacy and what it meant for her people, but she felt confident that she was making the best choice.

Likewise, Maria looked up to voph as she instructed one of her advisers to move the saber to where the old saber was held. "Well, the idea of joining the Obsidian knights is appealing, and.. learning of all sides of the force, and expanding my knowledge of that world is exciting.. as Queen of Koldut, I have a responsibility to my people and to the planet as a whole.. therefore, I.. can't accept an offer to the obsidian knights unless someone who can teach me can remain here.. or visit from time to time." She spoke with a sad tone, looking down to the ground below as she thought of this choice.

"Nonetheless, we will happily join the confederacy, Koldut's people and economy will do well under the protection of us Confederacy as a whole. Therefore how will we go about the signing process of Koldut joining? Will there be a call for some sort of ceremony? And when shall I put into action the employment of a viceroy to my world? She simply listed a few questions before thinking a little more about her choice.

Voph smiled gently to Maria, as a Father might to a child. "In time you will learn to balance such things, young one. I once thought as you did. That my leadership was all consuming. But, take my advice, the more active your advisers are, the more time you will have to seek your own goals. A planet that revolves around a single person, no matter how powerful, is doomed to fall."

Voph turned his head as the attendant came to remove the lightsaber from the table, and then continued. "The Confederacy will be in touch about the finer details. I would prepare my calendar, were I you, as there will be a number of visits in the coming days. As for your Viceroy, the position is elected. Though if you have individuals you would like to nominate, I advise preparing them now. I am glad you have chosen to join us, Your Majesty. I look forward to seeing how we might help your planet rise to greatness."

Now, she listened into the advice of Voph; he spoke exactly to something she was feeling at the moment. She was stressed and believed personally that she would be stuck in this job for the time being.. however, Voph brought up a great point in that "a planet that revolves around one person, will fall" of course paraphrased, but the message was, important to her and she nodded in acceptance as Voph spoke. Nonetheless, as he began finishing up and he began going over the terms with the confederacy she smiled knowing that the meeting between the two went.. well.

Moreover she looked to voph; "Well, in that case I will prepare the planet for an election process; Along with that, I want to say thank you for coming.. your words have changed my view on a few things, and I now look forward to the future and what it has to offer to me and this world as a whole.. One day I'll invest my time to what I want to do, as you have inspired some.. optimism in me" She laughed a bit before looking him straight in eyes. "Till then though, I'll bide my time.. Thank you for coming here sir.. what you've offered to my people won't be forgotten, and I can't wait for the next time we meet." With a smile she rose from her desk chair as she bowed in respect to Voph.
