Dinner After A Brawl

Smiling I said "You're welcome Jae. As for what we're starting with, we'll be using practice swords and moving from one set to the other. As you might notice one of the training swords is longer than the other the reason for that is that you can often use two in tandem as a single unit. One to catch the blade of your opponent and either deflect it away and the other to attack, another option is to use them as a crossed block. For now though we'll start with the longsword and a hard-light plasma shield." Tossing the spare shield module I'd picked up to her I said "attach to a gauntlet and trigger it to get used to the feel and act of doing so. After that I'll hand you your blade and we'll begin."

Smiling I triggered my left forearm gauntlet and waited as the four emitter arms sprung from my gauntlet and projected a hard-light plasma shield in a warm yellow glow. Having done so I slid the hardwood training longsword into a belt on the left hip of my tactical pants. Then I picked up the second training longsword and waited for Jae to get used to her shield as I tossed the blade up and caught it blade end out. Extending the hilt towards her I waited for her to grab it so we could begin...

She nodded whilst he spoke and tried to absorb as much information as he was saying as she knew it would prove useful for future, especially if she were to continue working with blades which she had a feeling was a fairly big possibility. She caught the shield module in her hand before turning it around and inspecting it quickly. She attached it to a gauntlet and it rested on her forearm. Activating it she jumped back a little as the glowing plates sprung out out of the gauntlet, coming to life. She held her arm away from her as the yellow glow shone brightly, bringing it closer to her shortly afterwards. She moved her forearm around, practising in using it, though not 100% sure whether or not she was doing it correctly. She found it heavy though lightweight at the same time, fairly simple to use.

She looked forward as something caught the corner of her eye and saw that it was the hilt if her training sword. She smiled and grabbed the hilt of the sword, changing her grip multiple times though not drastically changing it, simply moving her finger higher or lower along the hilt trying to find a comfortable position. Suddenly a realisation hit her, "Wait, are we about to spar? Because I don't know the first thing about bladework!" She didn't know how this was going to turn out though she had to admit she was curious to find out.

Smiling at her realization and reaction to the blade she'd grabbed I said "Yep we sure are. More you sweat in training the less you bleed in combat. Don't worry so much Jae, we'll start off slow and then work our way up." With that I smoothly pulled the training blade from my left hip and bringing it up with the blade and crossguard in front of my face I twirled it down and out to my right bringing it back in a ready grip as I brought my shield out and in front of my body. I'd let her have the first move then I'd move in response, I had the feeling that she'd pick up on this fairly quickly and before long we'd be trying different variations of blades. I also had the feeling that she might like bladed staffs too. Something to think about, staff were known fro being excellent long-range, middle-range, and even short range weapons on top of being an effective shield.

@Jae Jordan

She nodded her head hesitantly unsure of where to start. She thought any move would be as good as another, considering her extremely limited training. She opted for a quick and simplistic strike. She tightened her grip around the hilt and stepped forward bringing the sword up before swinging it back downwards in the centre of Andorreth. For now she simply tried to stay aware of what was happening, she may not know how to properly battle in the midst of a sword fight but the least she could do was be aware of what was going on, keeping an eye on every move Andorreth made and making sure she figured out a way to 'stay alive'. She kept her shield close to her body, knowing it'd be useless if she didn't use it somewhat properly.

I didn't want put too much against Jae all at once. So I blocked her strike with my shield in a high block and darting forward I thrusted my blade into an inverted strike that would hopefully catch her attention. Giving Jae a wolfish grin I glanced at her footing and said "Not a bad first strike Jae! Now show me how you can dance!" I was curious to see how skilled Jae would get through sparring with and against me. After this I'd probably do a quick workout and then get showered up. After which I'd probably grab a tub of Ice-cream to share with Jae.

@Jae Jordan

Jae watched as Andorreths blade came from below her arm and straight forward towards her. Her eyes widened slightly and simply went with the movement of her body, out of instincts rather than thinking too much about it. She spun to the left and brought her arm with her, swinging it back around at neck level as she came out of the spin. She laughed lightly as Andorreth spoke, both on the edge yet still enjoying herself through their duel.

As Jae spun out of striking range I was more focused on her shield and as a result I almost got clipped by the tip of her blade. Darting my head back to avoid the blade I twitched my hand and as she slashed I met her blade with my own. Her footing was now more spaced out and it'd be a little bit easier to cause her to lose her footing. Smiling I said "I know it's hard to resist my roguish charm and good looks Jae, but I think you can get closer than that slash..."

I was trying to antagonize her, but I wanted her to still want to come back and practice with me again. Besides, it wasn't like she wouldn't ever face an opponent other than me that'd run their mouth....

@Jae Jordan

She tried to push against his blade but quickly realised strength was not in her favour, as it rarely wasn't. She tried to think of ways to get her out of this position as she was quite stuck. She then quickly ducked and stopped pushing against his blade as Andorreths blade flew over her head from the release of tension. Not wasting a moment she jumped back up and extended her blade, striking forward. "I think you're a little full of yourself" she said whilst smirking, "Captain." Though he was not wrong with what he said in regards to his charm and looks. That she could agree on.

Due to the bladelock I couldn't exactly do much more against Jae at the moment. Then suddenly the release of tension as Jae ducked and stopped pushing against my blade. I had a split second to think Osik, then I pitched forward. Spinning the training blade to an inverted position as I rolled forward I spun back around and brought my shield up over my shoulder and head. As I'd rolled I'd spun the blade back into a forward position, now I had my shield in front of me and my blade ready as a thrusting weapon.

Hearing what Jae said I smiled and said "Well Jae they always have said pride comes before a fall. Good thing you're here learning then, keeps me humble." As I crab walked back towards the wall I kept my shield and blade ready. "Even with being the captain, I'd like to think that I'm the same as everyone else. Still a being with feelings, hopes, dreams and so on..." Even with being cornered I was still a force to be reckoned with. Behind my shield I simply kept eyes on Jae and I had to say she looked gorgeous. A fierceness had entered her eyes and I had to say I liked it...

@Jae Jordan

Jae kept a close eye on Andorreth as he moved about the space, coming to the conclusion that it was important to know where your opponent was at all times. She lost him a couple times and failed to think quick enough about what to do next, in case he attacked again, for she was unable to predict his next move. She had to admit she was enjoying blade work, at least what she'd been doing for the past few minutes or so, and despite evidently needing more training she felt some pride in the fact that she'd lasted this long in their duel. She just had to keep doing what she was doing, watching and reacting.

She noticed Andorreth swapping between an inverted position and a forward position with his blade quite frequently and smoothly throughout battle. She didn't dare try attempting it, knowing it'd throw her off course and possibly cost her the duel. She needed to stick to the limited knowledge she knew for the time being. Stepping forward she took another slash, diagonally this time, starting form the top left and bringing it down to the bottom right. She laughed lightly at him comment and smiled, "You're not the same as everyone else, you're different" She said along with a playful smile as she retreated back behind her shield, preparing for his next move.

I felt my heel hit the wall behind me and I knew I'd have to do something drastic to move my position in this duel. Looking at Jae I gave her a wolfish grin as her slash came down from shoulder to hip I let it fall against my shield. Then after her strike glanced off my shield I pushed my foot off the back wall and planting the tip of my blade against the floor I leapt in a somersault landing behind her. Twisting as I secured my sword grip I gently but firmly butted my shield against her back. The sudden change would likely make her stumble forward a bit and as it did I struck. A left inverted strike to her ribs then flicking my wrist into a left slash before jumping off my feet with a thrust towards her right shoulder as I brought my shield up to over my body.

As I hit the deck again I had a smile on my face. "I don't know about being that different Jae, other than picking a gorgeous pilot and a cunning cat on Nar Shadaa. I happen to be quite fond of my pilot though, could keep things interesting..."

@Jae Jordan

Jae had foolishly assumed victory despite the battle not being over yet as she got a little too confident on her abilities and started to drop her guard down, which was a mistake that may have cost her the match. All of a sudden, in one smooth movement that she couldn't keep track of, he flipped over her and pushed her forward with the use of his shield. She stumbled forward and almost lost balance completely if not for her quickly regaining her footing. She felt the strike to her ribs and immediately got mad at herself for not seeing it and blocking it. In a real fight she would've just gained a gash across her ribs.

She noticed Andorreth move in to push against her shoulder too late and failed to bring her shield up. With her footing already in awkward positioning the final thrust made her trip over her own footing and fall back, she hit the back of her head on the floor, though not hard enough to cause any severe damage. A headache at the worst. "..Ow." She muttered, she got back up on her feet, refusing to simply give up at her first defeat. She blushed a little at his comment regarding herself, "Are you now? Well I think your pilot is quite fond of you too." She said as she wore a playful smirk.

She tightened her grip on the hilt and kept her shield close to her chest. She took a few quick steps towards him and saw Andorreth raise his blade preparing to slash her, she rolled forward, ducking under his blade and once back on her feet, her back slightly towards him, she brought her blade around, slashing in the middle of his back.

Smiling as she got back to her feet after I landed the blow and forced her to the floor I admired her persistance. "Yeah, well y'know my pilot is just smoking I mean she really is quite a looker. So I mean it's not exactly like I can fully resist her feminine wiles." As I'd been speaking I'd seen her footing change to go into a roll and sure enough she didn't disappoint my assumption. She ducked clear of my blade as she did and I knew she'd go for a back strike.

As she moved to strike I simply inverted my blade to catch hers and going to a knee I spun with a hook kick that'd hopefully catch her leg and put her back on the ground. For good measure I shielded myself as I spun with the hook kick. I felt the other training blade in the sheathe on my back and readied myself for a roll of my own. I was getting tired of the shield I'd been using, I was a more to the point type duelist.

I didn't like dragging things out as it tired both people out and left more chances for mistakes on my end. I was going to need to just completely overwhelm Jae and I'd need to so soon because she was actually quite a bit better than she thought for never having touched a blade before.

@Jae Jordan

She couldn't help but laugh and blush a little more at his comments. "Really! What a coincidence that is, in fact my captain is quite stunning himself, just can't take your eyes of him." She looked down at him for a moment before looking back at his eyes, smiling. Having her strike blocked she made sure not to make the same mistake she did last time, keep an eye on his next move. And soon enough he made it, getting down on his knee she knew he was about to spin and trip her up once again. Her eyes darted from him to his leg and back to herself once again. Instincts took over completely and she was watching herself not entirely sure what she was doing or how it was going to turn out. She jumped at the last minute and avoided his leg sweep, taking a few steps backward she looked down at herself and then forward again, her eyes wide and full of amazement. "Woah.. that was so cool." She whispered to herself.

In her moment of victory she almost didn't realise his next slash towards her, she rapidly brought her shield up, protecting her from the attack though pushing her back slightly from the force of it. She needed to work on not getting distracted over every minor victory, otherwise that was going to prove to be a massive problem out in the field.

[member="Andorreth Vikar"]

As she said that was really cool I went into motion. The hook-kick was more of a distraction and as I inverted my blade again I deactivated the shield I held and went into a roll drawing the blade on my back at the same time with a dual slash with both blades to her calves. As I came out of the roll and to a standing position I gave an inverted strike to the left side of her ribs and a quick two strikes one to her leg with the longsword and one to the shoulder. I'd need to keep her unbalanced with quick, unpredicatable strikes and block with both blades. They'd be both offense and defense for me, not to mention Jae still had her shield up which was good on her end she needed to iron out the attack and defense pattern for sword and shield anyways before she'd want to try dual blades.

Smiling I flicked my head to the side moving my jet black hair out of my eyes. "Seems like your captain is a pretty chill guy. Not to mention lucky, having the attention of a beautiful woman to boot." As I was talking I looked at her footing, she was clearly learning some of my moves and how to anticipate them which was excellent. Though I still had more experience with blades so I figured I'd win the duel especially if I mixed in acrobatics...

@Jae Jordan

Once his shield deactivated Jae immediately got a little nervous, unsure of where Andorreth was going with this and what his next move was going to be. Seeing him draw another blade her shoulders dropped and she sighed, "Great." She muttered under her breath, now she had another thing to worry about, but, things weren't always going to go her way in battle so this was for the better. The sooner she learnt to adjust to the new changes that were inevitably going to appear during a duel, the better. She felt the strike along her calves though managed to quickly move past it and turned, having her shield block his strike towards her ribs. She felt another hit to her legs and saw the one coming straight for her shoulder. She instantaneously ducked, more out of 'trying to stay alive' than strategically working out a way to dodge his attack. Either way, she managed to avoid the hit.

She stumbled back a bit, her footing was going to be her downfall if things kept going like this. She just had enough skill and general knowledge to stay in the fight with him moving slowly, now that he was taking things to the next step she was finding it difficult to keep up. "Oh yeh he's super chill, not to mention a great kisser." She ended with a smirk before moving in forward and raising her blade slightly as she was about to strike at his ribs, though at the very last second she didn't strike him and in fact ducked under his arm so that she was behind him once again, once there she pushed him forward, using the shield to aid her. She wasn't physically strong to begin with and she had no idea whether he'd even move an inch, but she tried anyway, hoping the motion of the whole move gave her a little edge.

[member="Andorreth Vikar"]

Smiling at her saying that the captain was a great kisser I smirked. She dodged a few hits but I wasn't done yet, I'd always felt being unpredictable was a boon in combat. I moved with the strike just moving enough to avoid the strike and then there was the shield pushing against me. I moved with her though and as she went for a hard shield shove I simply dropped my shoulders and body down allowing her weight to work against her. As she moved past me I planted the blades I held blade down in front of me and slingshotted myself forward following her path.

Instead of striking at her with the blades I simply came up behind her and whispered "Good to know he's a great kisser. Bet he has a hard time keeping his hands off you." With that I quickly kissed her neck along her jawline and darted back out of her immediate range. A thin sheen of sweat covered my torso and I waited a brief second before doing an underhand flourish bringing both blades into a normal position. Then I inverted the short blade and began moving slowly keeping her on edge, I'd finish this duel in the next five minutes. The point of the kiss was two-fold, first to show her how close I could get. Second to add tension, more than there already was. I was planning on grabbing a shower after a brief workout and with all the tension in here odds of that shower getting interesting were a bit higher than normal.

@Jae Jordan

Her shield move failed her as she stumbled forward from her weight and the force she applied to the move only to have it thrown against her. She gasped a little as it was slightly unexpected. Nevertheless, She regained her footing once again and quickly turned around so as to not miss the next move that was surely about to be thrown at her. She watched as he worked with his blades and slingshotted towards her direction. Knowing that there was nothing that she could do at this point given her limited training, or at least nothing that she could think of doing, she brought her shield up, hiding behind it and shutting her eyes instinctively, awaiting the impact that should have come.

Although instead of a hit that should have knocked her back onto the ground she heard his voice, from behind her. She jumped slightly and turned her head a little to look at him. She couldn't help the shivers he sent down her back from his voice as well as the kiss. She turned around once he left, unsure of whether she turned to attempt at striking him or if she simply wanted more than what he'd given her. The kiss had certainly knocked her frame of mind and she was pretty sure that was physically evident. If that was his goal then he'd succeeded. Though the fact that he had so effortlessly gotten behind her.. and that close, only further proved how skilled Andorreth was with blades and how he was not a force to be reckoned with when he was in his prime.

She cleared her throat and tried to refocus her mind back onto the duel, readjusting her grip on the hilt she moved around the space carefully, though not sure what her next move was going to be. Andorreth had obviously tilted the scales in his favour. Not that they were ever very in her favour to begin with.

[member="Andorreth Vikar"]

Smiling as I saw my kiss have the expected result of sowing doubt at my getting that close I darted into a shin slide under the reach of her shield and gave a quick thrust with the short blade towards her abdomen. She'd done an incredible job of keeping me away from her with the shield though. As the hit landed I withdrew the blade and pulling my blade back I tried for a sweep of her legs with both blades. If the strikes landed on her legs hopefully it'd have her body weight fall into my arms. That was the plan anyways, anything could happen though but at this point I wanted to be done with blades.

The idea of working out on the salmon also appealed to me for no other reason than showing off to Jae. After that shower, then mint chip ice cream. What happened after that was really anyone's guess I was a big fan of making things up as I went along.

@Jae Jordan

Her brain wasn't functioning at the required level to react properly to his moves so when he slid on his shins and went for her abdomen, the strike landed without fail, Jae on the other hand failing to do anything about it. She took one step back from the sudden impact to brace herself so she wouldn't fall over again. She winced slightly and lowered her blade as she held her abdomen after the blow. Starting to breathe heavily now she brought her foot back up and attempted another strike, though she saw Andorreth move in for another sweep of her legs and Jae wasn't quick enough to respond and react appropriately. Tripping her completely she let out a short shriek and awaited impact with the ground. Although instead she landed rather softly, at least, not onto the cold hard ground.

She looked up and noticed she'd fallen straight into his arms. Now catching her breath she smiled as her head fell back, quite exhausted though she wouldn't admit it. Looking back up at him she smiled, "Ok, you win." She said laughing lightly. Her eyes fell down to his lips for a short while before coming back up to his eyes. She couldn't resist any longer, she leaned up slightly and placed one hand around the back of his neck before she placed her lips on his. She pulled away after a few moments and smiled, "You cheated though." She commented playfully, in regards to his kiss mid-battle, not that she had any problem with it.
