Character Deyrr Nakazz

Deyrr Nakazz

Deyrr Nakazz was a male Duros street rat and scoundrel who operated on the fringes of the galactic underworld. Raised in the industrial warrens of the forgotten lower levels of the ecumenopolis planet, Nakazz eked out a living through theft, gambling, and small-time cons. With few possessions beyond the clothes on his back and no formal ties to any major syndicate, he drifted between gangs and backroom sabacc games, trying to build a reputation for cunning, nerve, and ambition. Though lacking a ship or a steady crew, Nakazz dreamed of one day escaping the gutters and carving out a name for himself among the hyperspace lanes of the Outer Rim.

Biography
Early Life

"You don't get to choose the gutter you're born in. But you sure as hell get to choose who you steal from on the way out."
— Deyrr Nakazz, overheard during a sabacc game in Level 1313
Deyrr Nakazz was born in the lower levels of Coruscant, however no records exist of his exact date of birth of the precise district into which he was born, owing to the lacklustre adminstrative capacity of the slums of the galactic deep core. Like many Duros that found themselves on the city-world, his familt was part of a long-forgotten migrant community displaced by war and left to languish in the shadows of the so-called galactic capital. Nakazz was orhapned at a young age (whether by gang violence of abandonment he has yet to learn) and quickly fell in with local street crews, learning to steal, bluff and suvruve amid the smog-choked alleys of the undercity.

By his adolescence he was a familar face around service tunnels, in the backrooms of cantinas and at illegal sabacc dens, running errands for petty gangsters in exchange for food, shelter, and credits. He never stayed with one crew for to long, often by necessity rather than choice, developing a reputation for slick hands and a survivors toungue. With no education, and no prospects, crime was less of a choice and more a condition of his life, one Nakazz accepted early, and without apology.

Criminal Career
"I'm not a thug. I'm an opportunist with a talent for poor timing."
— Deyrr Nakazz, during questioning by Coruscant Security Forces
Nakazz's criminal record began early in his life, and saw no pause throughout the rest of it. By the age of tweleve standard years, he had already been implicated in a string of petty thefts, mostly snatched cred-cards and stolen tech from workers in the area. But as he grew older, his crimes became bolder and more brazen. Soon he was pickpocket offworlders, slicing low-grade security systems, and running quick cons on desperate newcomers to the lower levels.

His work was rarely violent, but all to often it was reckless. Nakazz preferred manipulation and a quick score over muscle and the long-con. He thrived on environments where fast talk and a quick exit mattered more than firepower. He served as a courier and a look-out for various minor gangs, including the Shivs, the Gutterlight Boys, and briefly the Chelin Syndicate, though his tendancy to freelance and skirt loyalties often meant he was never trusted fully as an insider. Often, he would leverage gang rivalries to his advantage, playing crews off against each other for protection or opportunity.

During one notable hustle, Nakazz helped orchestrate a rigged sabacc tournament that bilked a mid-level enforcer from the Black Sun out of several thousand credits. Though the scheme succeeded, the fallout forced Nakazz to go underground for several months, laying low in the industrial shadows of Level 1313.

Despite occasional brushes with CorSec and the Republic's lower-tier enforcement arms, Nakazz never faced serious jail time—thanks in part to his slippery nature and in part to the bureaucratic apathy surrounding crimes committed in the lower levels. Still, by his mid-twenties, he had outgrown the small-time rackets and began seeking a way offworld, eyeing the smuggler routes and spice corridors of the Outer Rim as his path to something larger than survival.

Personality and Traits
Deyrr Nakazz was known for his fast mouth, quicker hands, and an almost pathological refusal to quit. Street-smart and silver-tongued, he relied more on wit and nerve than brute strength, often talking his way into (and out of) trouble. He had a gambler's instinct for risk, favouring bold plays even when the odds were stacked against him (a habit that earned him both grudging respect and more than a few broken bones).

Nakazz viewed the world through a cynic's lens, shaped by years of betrayal, poverty, and scraping for survival. He rarely trusted anyone fully, though he could feign camaraderie with disarming ease. Despite his guarded nature, he wasn't without a code, he loathed slavers, despised cruelty without purpose, and preferred cleverness over violence when solving problems.

Though he lacked formal education, Nakazz was observant, adaptable, and shrewd, with a keen memory for people, routes, and leverage points. He nurtured a deep longing for freedom, not just from Coruscant's gutters, but from any system that demanded obedience. It was this hunger, more than greed, that drove his smuggler's ambition.
