Strengths:
  • Interceptor: The Devourers are at their core highly advanced interceptors. Based of the ancient TIE Advanced as well as many other Sith and Imperial Interceptors the ships are simplistically designed to have heightened speed and maneuverability. To aid in this their armament is minimized to a simple pair of twin laser cannons and two multipurpose warhead launchers, the same weapons that can be found on a TIE Advanced. This allows the ship to be fast and maneuverable, outpacing many other craft in the galaxy.
  • Cloak: Chief to The Devourer's design is the aspect of it's cloaking device. These ships are each fitted with numerous stealth technologies, including standard equipment that is generally found on less advanced stealth ships. To augment this however each Devourer is also equipped with a stygium cloak. These cloaking devices allow the Devourers to drop in and out of combat at will, though there is a pause between when the it can be activates and deactivated(2 posts). This ability gives the Interceptors a unique ability when striking at any target.
Weaknesses:
  • Interceptor: At their heart these ships are still interceptors. They are not somehow or magically stronger than any other vessel of it's class. Though they have a deflector shield their armoring is quite weak. A single well placed torpedo or streak of laser-fire is more than enough to destroy one of these ships in a single blow.
  • Engine Coupling: Perhaps the greatest issue with these ships is the reactor to engine coupling design. This system has a unique flaw in it that simply does not allow for full power transfer under certain parameters. These parameters are as follows; When the cloak is active the engines are only able to receive three fourths power, when lasers are firing the engines can only receive two thirds power.
Description:
The Devourer-Class Interceptor is an evolution of Interceptors such as the TIE Advanced and other ships of similar nature.

The vessel itself is fairly simple in design, created in the same design as many previous TIE fighters. There is a single ion engine, a large bulbous cockpit, and of course wings. Perhaps the more unique aspect of this Interceptor are it's X shaped wings, more reminiscent of the ancient X-Wings than TIE fighters. Besides this however the ships resemble many of the design aspects of their ancient cousins, the similarities of which are obvious when looking at the ship itself.

When closely inspected however the Devourer yield several more advanced designs.

Much like the famed TIE Phantom the Devourer's were designed to be stealth ships. Vessels that could, and would, utilize cloaking devices in order to move in and out of combat to confuse enemy ships. This design was created on purpose to allow pilots more control over where they engage on the battlefield, allowing them smoothly transition from scene to scene without interference.

Additionally the Devourer's were created with small upgrades to standard Interceptor Engines, allowing them a higher top-speed and slightly increased maneuverability. This allows the pilot more options in an engagement.

These Interceptors were designed for the simple reason of providing unexpected air superiority. Whereas most military organizations and governments require carriers or other delivery devices in order to get their fighters in and out of combat the Devourer's were designed to jump in on their own. They come into a system, near undetectable, swoop into the target area, and take control before anyone knew what hit them. Once the mission is completed the Devourer's simply disappear into the ethos of space.

In short, the Devourer's are hit and run ships, meant to create a gap for whatever need doing.
