DESCRIPTION
5'11, medium build. High and tight brown hair that grows upward into a messy pompadour. A scar runs down from the behind his left ear down across his neck to his right collar bone, a souvenir from an early scuffle on the job. His jacket - a long burgundy trenchcoat that cuts off above the knee. Underneath is a pale gray chambray popover shirt, mandarin-collared and unbuttoned. Tight navy pants are adorned with an old gun belt containing twin DL-18 pistols with a black matte finish. They sit tucked into black shiny officer boots. Within the left boot is a blunted vibrojack, holstered around the calf.

BIOGRAPHY
Dev is descended of opportunists. The Bexel family originally hailed from Corellia. Unable to attain capital within the heavily insulated and stratified economy of Corellia at the time, the Bexels settled on Cloud City in 785 ABY. His grandmother Nora Bexel founded the Bexel Mining Corporation shortly after. They were a small but scrappy outfit that specialized in - what else? - Tibanna gas mining. They had meager success at first, selling to non-government entities throughout the galaxy through less-than-legal means before going entirely legitimate. His father Vance worked his way up the Mining Guild and, for a brief spell, was the Baron Administrator of Cloud City -- and enemy of the Exex. Dev was all golly-gee and ain't this the life at the time, a portly teenager with designs to enter the political sphere himself. He enrolled in the Cloud City Police Force at 18 and worked his way up from gopher (go for this, go for that) to Senior Trooper by age 28. Dev was popular in Port Town. For all of his good police work, he had what some would call a high tolerance for the criminal element. It was a way of life in that area -- turning a blind eye to the minor drug trade and focusing on murder and sentient trafficking made him well-liked among the residents, who had previously felt persecuted in an empty war on narcotics. They understood that their business was limited, but lucrative within his lunchtable definition of the law. To Dev, he saw them as an asset to catch the larger fish. This did not stop them from acting out at times, but Dev had no problem making an example when the time called for it. He was a young guy with a badge, a gun, and a beat. Everything was coming up Bexel.
That is, until he witnessed the corruption within the ranks of his beloved City in the Clouds. A political rival of Vance's, Kulp Schueller, manipulated the board of the Mining Guild and seized power from Bexel Mining Co by way of phony ethics charges. It would later come to pass that Kulp was a First Order sympathizer. Selling the Bexels up the river allowed them majority support on the board of directors. This in turn sparked the chain of events that would make it easy for The First Order to seize control of the planet. The Exex was no help to Vance.
The dirty side of the carbonite coin cost his father the position and his family their dynasty as Vance was arrested and brought to court over a series of lies. The case was thrown out and his father released, but the charges stuck like tar on pavement. In the game of politics, that is all that matters. Bexel Mining Co was removed from the Mining Guild and filed for bankruptcy, and his family fled to Corellia. Dev did not.
Cloud City was home. He could not leave her, and yet he had no choice. So Dev spent several years exploring the galaxy and looking for a place comparable to the amber sunsets and open winds. Alas, he could not. So he returned to the city resolute in doing the very thing he was trained to do - protect the citizens. Once the dust settled and his favors were cashed in, Dev started The Bexel Group. It was a private investigative agency that served the bureaucrats who hoped to keep their issues out of the public eye. His income was primarily served this way, allowing pro bono work for cases pertaining to their more impoverished residents; the ones the First Order had forgotten about.

SKILLS
Dev is combat-ready, having trained at the Cloud City Police Academy at a very young age in order to build his resume. Dev joined up at the age of 18 and was trained in Echani combat, but excels at gunplay and starfighter navigation. The time he spent as a young police officer on the outskirts of Port Town hardened him to the criminal element. Said time also allowed for Dev to engage in numerous pursuits of perpetrators via his police swoop.
Dev either suffers from a hyperactive personality or is gifted with latent Force abilities. He'll tell you he always had a fine attention to detail, but that would be putting it mildly. Dev has a hyper-awareness that can, in the middle of a crowded room, from anywhere ranging between a single inch and 50 meters outward, focus itself on a single target. This also has its downsides, as Dev can become confused with too much stimulation.

PERSONALITY
He is brash around friends and quiet near strangers and generally has a sarcastic, dry sense of humor. He is known to exhibit a hot temper, especially when dealing with perceived threats. This is a fault he is continuously working to correct, especially given his propensity for diffusing confrontations through handshakes and humor -- a trait he learned from his grandmother Nora. However, his parents were very over-protective and emotional with their children, prone to fights and outbursts. As a result of his bi-polar upbringing, Dev is known to suffer bouts of anxiety and has taken to self-medicate by smoking the natural green marijuana leaves found throughout the galaxy. Dev is a middle child and exhibits classic middle child traits. He is easily forgotten and works quietly to let his work stand on its own merits and not on the backs of other sentients. Through his accomplishments, he has amassed a quiet confidence that can be misconstrued as an arrogance. When his father urged him to continue the family business and concentrate on politics in school, Dev took it upon himself to enroll in the police academy. This was unheard of in the last 500 years of his family line, as the Bexels transitioned to a more political position from their previous lives as soldiers, smugglers, failed Jedi, and pirates.
EQUIPMENT

- PA-1, known as "Pal", a weathered navy blue Prowler 7000 droid with bright salmon accents. Has his back -- and speaking of, backs itself up on Dev's central computer.
- Twin BlasTech DL-18s, black matte dallorian alloy-plated handles. An heirloom, gifted from his father upon graduating from the academy.
- Arakyd Helix-class Light Interceptor, Model B. Named Skystar's Honor. Another heirloom from a bygone era. Slowly being modified for modern use, but not by much.
- M-31 Airspeeder, burnt orange and heavily modified.
