//: FILE - CAREER RECORD //:
//: Detective Jorsten's service to the CAD predates Corporate Security itself. Born and raised in a moderate-income family in Bela Vistal, Corellia, he had a largely unremarkable childhood. His academic records indicate strong but not exemplary performance in school, along with consistent involvement in local community service and outdoorsman clubs. He went on to attend the University of Corellia, where he received an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice.

Though offered a position with the Corellian Security Force, Detective Jorsten turned down this opportunity. Born at the tail end of the 400-year darkness, he had seen Known Space beginning to open back up after centuries of isolation, and was eager to explore the galaxy beyond his homeworld. He accepted employment with Leonis Security Services as a private security contractor, providing corporate policing services throughout the Core Worlds and the Colonies.

This decision likely saved his life, as Corellia was destroyed in the Netherworld disaster the following year. Most of his relatives perished.

Detective Jorsten was employed with Leonis for fifteen years. He received several commendations for his service, but never rose particularly high in the ranks; internal files suggest that he never expressed interest in supervisory positions, and was not well-liked by his colleagues despite his reputation for reliability. At the age of 28 he married fellow Corellian refugee Carmiya Kayl. They were married for three years before Kayl filed for divorce. The separation was amicable.

In 855 ABY, Detective Jorsten was assigned to asset protection duties on Denon. Several local corporations were key clients of Leonis Security Services, and the group brought in increasing numbers of its contractors after the temporary collapse of the Galactic Alliance necessitated an increased private police presence. Leonis remained one of the most significant local security firms as the region transitioned to being governed by the Corporate Authorities of Denon.

In 859 ABY, the Direx Board collectively purchased Leonis and transformed it into the nucleus of its new Corporate Security arm. As a veteran contractor, Detective Jorsten was given a generous compensation package and brought on as a trainer for Capitol Security detectives. He served in this capacity for five years. Although he was frequently described as "abrasive" in students' evaluation forms, he produced cadets with above average case closure rates.

At the age of 40, Detective Jorsten remarried. His relationship with his second wife, a local corporate office receptionist named Lysa Grenko, was initially described as a positive, stabilizing force in his life. After two years of marriage, they welcomed a son, Reese. Though Detective Jorsten's evaluations improved during this period, his compensation package was determined to be excessive in a post-transition funding model, and he was reassigned later that year.

Given his strong investigative abilities and knowledge of CorpSec regulations, Detective Jorsten seemed an ideal fit for Internal Affairs. During the first two years of this assignment, his case closure rates were exemplary. As time went on, however, Detective Jorsten began displaying symptoms of burnout and depression. His annual psychiatric evaluation revealed persistent feelings of hopelessness and anhedonia, along with a developing substance abuse problem.

In Detective Jorsten's fourth year with Internal Affairs, Capitol Security was summoned to his apartment after a neighbor reported suspicions of a domestic dispute in progress. Responding officers reported that Detective Jorsten had punched several holes in the apartment wall in a bout of drunken rage. Following this incident, his wife filed for divorce. Detective Jorsten did not contest the divorce, and Grenko was awarded full custody of their son in the proceedings.

In light of his increasingly erratic behavior and concerning psychiatric evaluations, Detective Jorsten was removed from active duty in Internal Affairs. Although provided a pension and advised to retire, he submitted no fewer than seventeen petitions to return to duty in four months, each noting that he "[didn't] know what else to do with [himself]". On several occasions he caused a public disturbance, amassing several drunk and disorderly and disturbing the peace citations.

In light of his formerly exemplary record, and the potential for negative publicity for CorpSec if further incidents occurred, Detective Jorsten was reinstated as a Capitol Security detective but assigned to a low-priority precinct. He spent the next several years in the Twilight Belt of District 3 as a member of the Asset Recovery Task Force, tracking down criminals who illegally scavenged materials from defunct corporate property that might one day be legally salvaged.

Detective Jorsten expressed many times that he felt these duties were unsatisfying and unsuitable for a man of his talents. However, his transfer requests were repeatedly denied in light of ongoing concerns about his mental stability. This decision was only recently reversed in light of the District 7 train bombing, an act of terrorism that demanded an immediate and overwhelming CorpSec response. After the district lockdown and sweep, a number of veteran officers were transferred to District 7's Anti-Darkwire Task Force. Detective Jorsten was among these officers.

//: FILE - PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE //:
//: In the early years of his CorpSec career, Detective Jorsten was noted as a highly-effective officer. His keen investigative instincts, encyclopedic knowledge of CorpSec procedure and the local area, and dogged determination to pursue each case to the end resulted in an excellent case closure rate, well above average for both Capitol Security detectives and Internal Affairs agents. Unfortunately, his inability to distance himself from his cases took a psychological toll on him, particularly during his years of investigating officer misconduct.

Although he remains stubbornly dedicated to closing his cases, Detective Jorsten has proven to be worryingly unstable. His psychological reports note that he experiences intense and prolonged episodes of melancholy, occasionally punctuated by fits of destructive rage. A condition of his return to duty was that he abstain from alcohol, as the habit worsened his instability and has led to several embarrassing public episodes. Although he has complied with this condition, he has taken up smoking to an alarming degree, further compromising his already damaged health.

In the present climate, which demands all hands on deck due to the extreme threat presented by Darkwire terrorists and those who take advantage of the chaos they create, men like Detective Jorsten are necessary. A veteran security contractor long before there was a CorpSec, he has more experience than virtually any other active officer in Capitol Security, including his superiors. When the crisis has passed, however, his visible dysfunction will no longer be excusable, as it serves as a potential source of further embarrassment. He should be put out to pasture as soon as doing so proves expedient.
