Private Desk Jobs...

Relationship Status: It's Complicated
WEARING: xxx
TAG: Ylla Caeli'runa

Gerwald sat in the office of the Lord Commander, situated on Naboo. Usually he had seen the office from the side of the side of the desk which put his back to the door, but now Gerwald saw the room from an entirely new view. It was a quiet space compared to what he was used to. The lupine looked down at the reports which littered his desk. Each datapad seemed like it contained one catastrophe after the other. If only that were the case. Gerwald knew hoe to deal with a crisis. These reports, they were intelligence reports filled with all the secrets Gerwald needed to know. He needed a break from them.
The comm chimed. Eyes dropped to the desk and realized he had an appointment of some kind.
Great. Not only was being the Lord Commander a desk job, it was one meeting after the next. Gerwald was determined to change that. The leadership of the Knights Obsidian needed to be on the field more than they were in meetings. The Lupine was determined to see that those who filled the higher echelons of the order would be active in the work which was ahead of them. The intelligence reports were frightening. It seemed there was always some kind of iron in the fire, always something to be involved in. When Voph had said Gerwald was not ready, it had not been a lie.
"Send them in," Gerwald said over the comm to his assistant.
He stood from the desk, his attire a lot more casual than what any other Lord Commander would have worn before. Gerwald was a lot less formal than most of those who found themselves in this level of office. At least the job came with wet bar. Moving to the cabinet, a bottle of scotch was taken from the shelf with two glasses. Gerwald was not sure if the person he was meeting was a heavy drinker or at all. Two glasses were poured regardless.
As the door was opened, Gerwald turned and offered the glass.
"Drink?"

Their journey had been quite the long one.

They’d traveled through space, and even through a blue tunnel - a place that the explorers of their kind said was called hyperspace - for what felt like ages. They found that, if you stare long enough at the tunnel, it begins to hurt the eyes and make you quite dizzy. Staring into the void of space with only stars about for most of the way was also very boring. But, vertigo aside, the sites never ceased to amaze the young monarch. Despite this little revelation, Ylla spent most of their time on board the Aidoneus studying, researching, and planning. It seemed to be quite important to do when venturing into the heart of another nation. Certainly much better than sitting around the whole voyage.

Hours and days slipped by without much notice until the door to their quarters opened once to reveal a soldier, who stepped inside and stood straight, bowing her head. Keisari, we’re approaching Naboo and we’ve been cleared. We should be landing shortly.”

Ylla smiled and nodded. “Thank you. I’ll be out momentarily.” Just as they finished speaking and the soldier left, they left their stomach twist as the ship descended towards the surface. The descent was their least favorite part of flight. But, that, thankfully, meant they wouldn’t catch the orbital view, so they snapped their cape on and left for the exit ramp, leaving their helm on their bed until they returned. Best to go without it for this occasion.

Unsurprisingly, they were duly welcomed and Ylla, an advisor named Kadri Virelli, and their two guards were escorted promptly into the building and up a lift. This Lord Commander had an assistant, a person that spoke to her employer and told them to wait, causing Kadri to raise an eyebrow slightly and lean over to whisper to them. Eru þeir vitlausir?[Are they mad?] The question caused them to barely stifle a laugh, snickering softly.

Þetta er ekki Velorum, vinur. Þeir vita það líklega ekki. [This is not Velorum, friend. They likely do not know.] Either way, the wait wasn’t long at all so there wasn’t any gain in making a scene over the matter. They gave a smile and posted the guards outside, the Council insisted that some kind of detail accompany the monarch if only for their security. Traversing the Galaxy was still a new venture to their people, so they understood that it was best to er on the side of caution.

The door to the office opened and the man that sat there was… rather casual. Rather pale too. But, then again, the Galaxy was full of creatures and beings that were unfamiliar to the Vané. He appeared to be one of them.

They gave a nod at the drink, at least they were hospitable. And here goes nothing. “Yes, thank you.” Ylla approached the desk and took the glass, finding a seat for themselves and sipping the drink that had been offered. The taste was… odd. It tasted like they swallowed a mouthful of smoke. They slowly swallowed, trying to keep their face neutral so that they wouldn’t appear to be insulting their host. But, they did set the glass back on the table for the time being. At some point before this was over, that glass would need to empty itself.

But, their eyes quickly found the large man in front of them again and a genuine smile touched their face. “Thank you for inviting me here, Lord Commander. I am Ylla Caeli’runa of Velorum. It's been quite the journey here,” Was that redundant to tell him? Surely, he wouldn’t have invited someone to their capital if he didn’t know, at least, who they were. Unfortunately, words couldn’t be unsaid. They could only hope that the introduction wasn’t an awkward one.
