  • Appearance: Measuring just over 2m in height, 8m in length, and weighing just shy of 1,500 lbs Derecho is a large creature with golden hued fur and brightly coloured eyes and wings that give him a striking appearance when they are fully unfurled. His fur conceals slate-grey plates that trace his lower body, some of which have been mangled or misaligned due to the grafting of Kyber (since removed) and mistreatment of Rharrk Zaltli.

  • Personality: First and foremost, since encountering Viari Banu the Windshear has been fiercely protective of him, warding away his former masters chains to protect Viari against his reach. The pair share an empathic bond, and Oyandone is rarely beyond Viari's reach, and should Viari's life feel threatened the Windshear lives up to his species status as an apex predator, acting fearlessly and aggressively lashing out against adversaries. Despite this relationship, Derecho isn't a tame creature and is rarely seen, preferring to keep his distance from civilisation and social constructs. When he is present, Derecho can be found roosting, curling up into a ball and seeking solitude in dark areas this activity has earned him an undue reputation for being lazy, by the few that have been introduced to him. Finally, due to his history, Derecho responds aggresively to Dark Side powers.
  • Training: Derecho is a proud creature, while he might respond to commands, it's by his own violition and not necessarily training. That said, he understands and accepts most reasonable requests.
  COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Combat Function: Derecho is a flight-capable predator, an ability he abuses in every possible situation he can. He strikes from the air, preferrably against targets disorintated or winded from his breath weapon. If he is threatened or feels Viari is endangered by another creature, he isn't hestitant to strike aiming for vitals where possible.
  • Force Abilities (Force User Companions Only): Force Wind (Breath Weapon) and Empathy (Viari)
  Strengths:
  • Windshear - Derecho possesses all the advantages and disadvantages his species confers (except as noted). With respects to strengths, this includes a breath weapon, natural armour, agility and heightened intellect.
  • Sentient Insights - Derecho's proximity to Viari, and other sentient creatures has given Derecho insights into general behaviours of sentients. This makes him tolerable to actions that might otherwise cause a hostile reaction from his peers.
  • Force Familiar - Derecho shares a bond with Viari Banu, the pair are able to perceive each others emotions at short-distances and are aware of each others presence within a 10km radius. Through this bond, Derecho can provide insights that otherwise wouldn't be availiable to Viari, including heightened senses and awareness. Equally Viari offers improved perspective and understanding of behaviours.
  Weaknesses:
  • Windshear - Derecho possesses all the advantages and disadvantages his species confers (except as noted). With respects to his weaknesses, this includes his breath weapon causing exhaustion, vulunerabilities in his armoured body, and to a lesser extent being fairly clumsy on the ground.
  • Juve - Derecho isn't an adult Windshear, and many of his natural weapons aren't fully developed yet making them far less dangerous than his adult equivalent.
  • Burning Scars - Derecho has a very turbelent history with the dark, having once had kyber forcibly grafted into his scales. These have since been removed, but have left more than physical scars. Derecho is highly aggressive towards any dark side user, whether it be an ally or not.
  • Protective - Derecho would willingly jump between a blaster and his companion.
  
  HISTORICAL INFORMATION
  Derecho's history is a mystery to Viari Banu, what is known is that Derecho was once in the possession of Rharrk Zaltli, who used Derecho as a blood hound. In their encounter, during this encounter Viari used a technique taught to him by his father - inspired by a encounter with a particularly dangerous specimen - which Derecho recognised, causing him to hestiate long enough for Viari to interact and offer to help Derecho, who promptly acted against his masters wishes and protected Viari against Rharrk Zaltli and his agents, helping Viari and Jairdain Ismet-Thio escape to her old 'home' on Oricon.
  
  Unknown to anyone except Rharrk Zaltli, Derecho is the hatchling of a particularly ferocious and venerable Windshear that has tormented the Rishi of the Auric Basin for decades, for a time it was theorised by some, included Pyeth Raffinki that some event must have triggered her undue aggression towards flying Rishi. This would later be proven, when Pyeth was attacked by Rharrk and his allies on Oricon sometime in 902 ABY, and Derecho used against him and allowing Pyeth to put the pieces together. Rharrk Zaltli had stolen Derecho's egg, which caused the mother to aggresively begin hunting and killing the Rishi people of the Auric Basin.
  
  Worse still, Rharrk had grafted kyber crystals into Derecho's body, allowing him to influence the Windshears emotions and exert greater control over him.
