Ebon’s eyes wandered around the small cockpit he shared with himself. His thoughts passed by the events of the past few weeks, from finding more agents to serve him, to the missing blades he sought to replace. Next to him now lay a rather plain, vindictive reminder of his failure on Korriban, a simple dueling blade with a rare Qixoni crystal powering it. For once, Ebon wasn’t meditating, and the sight of the blade radiated small tides of anger in the Sith himself. Slowly, he turned his attention to the bleak and star stained space in front of him, each spot of light muddled in long streaks around his ship.

Hyperspace was a bore, and if it were combat he sought he would be meditating, but he knew just as well that there would be nothing but animals on the overgrown planet he searched for and there for no reason to prepare himself. The planet was Malrev IV in the Outer Rim, the sight of an ancient battle between the Sith and Jedi of old during the fourth schism. In it’s depths, Ebon sought the highly valued and exceedingly rare Kaiburr shards used in only the most powerful of lightsabers, and word of a derelict capital ship offered Ebon a chance at his prize.

It was this crystal that laid the foundation for his soon to be blade, and with it he would lay a path to dominance amongst any duelist in the galaxy. The thought teased him, tickled the ego that Ebon had, and played with the confidence he sought as a Sith. Balagoth would reward him, he knew, for his power and dedication… in time, he knew it to be true.

Already, Ebon carefully practiced with the lightsaber holocron he had received from his journey to Korriban, and with it he expanded greatly his knowledge of Shii-Cho. Not to mention, his countless duels and open combat with numerous other lightsaber users with far less skill than his own, easily dominating various padawans and bounty hunters in his war torn wake. Soon, the Mandalorians would know his power, and they too shall fear the name Ebon, in time.

Ebon’s mind quickly came back to the issue at hand as the ship came out of hyperspace. The once long and vivid streaks of light from the stars melded into the now fully encompassing view of the green and wicked planet he had been searching for.

Malrev IV, lost in the depths of the Outer Rim, sat as the destination Ebon sought, and with a simple mention of voice commands, his fighter ship closed in on the planets serene and natural climate. It’s green, overgrown landscapes and mountainous hills betrayed the darkness of it’s past, and yet it drew Ebon in as a beautiful horizon did so many times before. One of the truest forms of beauty he could appreciate, the Sith’s eyes cascaded over the free forming landmarks and gracious ravines like a child with a refinement for higher arts.

Still, as the ship shot over the land with blinding speeds, Ebon grew bored. It wasn’t the landscape he was interested in, it was the ship lost to time miles from him. Eventually, his own ship offered a small alarm to notify him of his arrival, and in unison it descended to land, either of its long wings twisting upwards to form a triangle around it’s durasteel frame.

Ebon quietly exited the ship, small pressure locks releasing in various pitches before the ship fell silent and cold. It was curious how these ships worked, able to cross entire galaxies only to calm themselves at the press of a button, and no matter how much Ebon truly flew the star ships, they would always interest him deeply.

In Front of him, the grand field he stood in became clear in magnitude. On either side of the sunken valley sat high and rocky outcroppings, mountains painting the horizon in a jagged and vivid display of nature’s true power. In its internal depths lay a rich and vibrant forest, long overtaking the massive star destroyer that now lay decaying in its beautiful vegetation. The star destroyer it self was sunken partially into the earth, and only the far back lay still visible.

The only entrance Ebon could see was the shattered and mangled opening tore into the vessel’s hull by the raging force of it’s crash. Ancient blaster marks streaked across the ship's exterior, and the Zabrak knew this graveyard was the result of violence untold for millennia. He offered a soft groan in a faint display of empathy, and quickly moved towards the dark opening before him.

As shadows overtook him, and the light abandoned the neglected ship's interior, Ebon entered into the massive belly of the beast, faint hanging wires nearly grazing his head as if little signs of disobedience in his wake. The hallways he entered were long, shattered by not only the battle they were witnesses too, but by time’s unstoppable punishment. Bodies riddled the floor, victims to decay and now only skeletons or clothes, various types of armor and broken blasters lying near them, obvious sentiments of their once exciting military lives.

The ship itself groaned as he explored, crossing dead bodies in small steps and vaulting over the occasional fallen support. Ebon knew not where to begin his search, but knowing the Kaiburr to likely be with the Jedi commander that once took reign of this ship, he thought it as good a place to begin as any to start in the bridge.

Difficulties soon rose in getting there however, as numerous corridors lay broken and collapsed from the fragmentation of its descent into the earth that now became it’s tomb. Still, Ebon found one he knew he could get past with focus, and as his mind used the power instilled in him by Sargon, the telekinetic waves lifted and threw the blockage clear of his path. Now open, he began his journey into the ship's depths once more.

Finally coming to the bridge, Ebon wretched open it’s double doors in a gracious display of raw power, and with it came dust and stale air that lay forever stirring in the room’s hold. Ebon coughed meekly, the massive Sith refusing to descend into a fit despite the irritation he held in his throat, and as the room began to clear he could fully see the damage that was done.

Scattered around lay the numerous bodies of tens of soldiers and officers, each twisted, some mangled, and various forced against the front of the bridge, no doubt from the force of the impact. Still, despite the various casualties, his eyes wandered to the seemingly calm and faintly alive corpse of the Jedi commander, his robes still in marvelous condition for their age, and his skin still on his corpse if not pruned and greyed from time.

The sight took Ebon by surprise, curious as to just how he was able to remain undigested by the harsh nature of this planet's ecosystem, yet despite this Ebon knew he was dead. His own soft footfalls echo’ed through the durasteel interior of the ship, and as quickly as he entered, he went straight to the lightsaber still clipped the long deceased Jedi’s waist.

It unhinged perfectly, and Ebon seemed to wait for a moment, as if expecting the man to awaken, to strike out at him for stealing the lightsaber, yet nothing came. Ebon sighed heavily, disappointed in his momentary fear of the motionless man, and quietly tried to ignite the saber itself.

The blade failed it’s action, no matter how much percussive maintenance or coercion Ebon tried, and faintly he gave up in the idea of turning the blade on. Slowly, using the force, Ebon took the hilt and disassembled it in a beautiful display of control, only to reveal the Kaiburr shard that lay in it’s depths.

Whatever lead Ebon had that this would be here, was right, and a gracious smile adorned his face as he reached out to pocket the finely cut gem. This would do perfectly for what he had in store for it, and in time it too would appreciate Ebon in the same way he had appreciated it.

Ebon’s movements slowly began their trek back to his ship, his mind once more wandering to the location of not only the other gems, but his soon to be battles against the mandalorians. He considered their tactics, their stance, and even their morale. War was his ally, war was his truth, and even in times of beautiful nature, it was all that was on the Sith’s mind.
War was his life.
