Public Denon - A new home

Thousands of Trandoshan refugees flooded Denon's ports seemingly overnight. Whenever asked where they had come from they'd answer the scorekeeper mildly. Which was enough for the clerks, they simply needed something for the paperwork.

It soon became apparent however that these Trandoshans had been apart of some cult. Whenever asked why Denon they'd answer "He has guided us here" which was written off as alien superstition. But as the Trandoshans trickled through so too did other nefarious items.

All of this somehow went on unbeknownst to those in power. It was as if they had the magic to make someone forget they had ever even seen them.

Whole pockets of survey teams would simply forget hours of their days. Most of the lizard folk had been guided to the designated refugee camp, but already in the lower levels, their were whispers, whispers that a new gang had come onto the scenes.

Workers who had once run the city started to disappear.

Power was restored to a few warehouses and new guest moved in. What all the people who went missing had in common was that they disappeared around a sewage center. The warehouses appeared simple spice dens operated by wannabe slum dog millionaires. But the workers within seemed off as if in a trance...

Most assumed it was simply the spice... But others whispered slavers had made a nesting ground in Denon.

What's cruious as well was that strange cloud formations could be seen over one of Denon's moons. Disspersing as soon as seen... Some say they saw something within the clouds. A great levithan serpent... But most wrote it off as simple storms.

Sirens wailed throughout the night, a fleet of CorpSec speeders racing across the night sky. Boots on the ground were rough-handling residents of the Seven Corners. "Someone's stirred the nest," Hacks breathed into a commlink, addressing Darkwire shadowrunners currently online, "Go to ground." She signaled the emergency code, going to ground mean't for shadowrunners to cut all communications with others in the Darkwire network and flee to safehouses. It was often used during a CorpSec shakedown trying to oust Darkwire from Denon.

The cybernetic mod-junkie slipped the commlink to the ground and stomped it, destroying the device. She glanced over her shoulder and made eye contact with a detective that knew her, a strange feeling crept over her, he grimaced then he looked away. What the, she thought. She should be running for her life lest she end up back in a cell. Something was different, CorpSec weren't hunting Darkwire. They were hunting someone else, or maybe. . . something else.

Hacks tugged at her collar and kept moving. She thought about the exchange, it didn't feel right. Then again something didn't feel right recently. Not since those refugees. People had gone missing, one of them were well known in Seven Corners. People usually went missing around here but not the type of person who had actually gone missing. No, something was going down and she didn't quite know what.

She walked towards sewers that leaked with industrial waste. A shortcut back to a Darkwire safehouse. Her hand slipped down her waist and patted the blasters holstered at her hips. For the first time in a long time she didn't feel safe on Denon. She glanced back out at the night sky, the Corporate Authorities of Denon were ablaze with activities. She turned her head and entered the sewer.

The sewers were rank with the smell of chit and other garbage. The fetid stench almost unbearable. Womp rats and other bottom feeders scurried through the trash, searching for their next meal. It was easy to get lost in a place like this...

Beady eyes peered out from the darkness of the shadows, glowing a dim feral animosity.

"Crossk, we've got another wayward soul lost in the sewers..." The being hissed.

Not so far from here a spice dealer known as Crossk had gathered up a crowd of junkies and was herding them deeper into the sewage network. The addicts, helpless, worried of nothing save their next fix.

Crossk heard the transmission and headed into a maintenance room. He dispensed the drugs and attempted to sound reassuring but his voice came out a menacing growl. He watched the junkies shove the needles within their veins and a devilish grin crept across his face as they did so...

Immediately they seemed to fall asleep.

"Get up," Crossk ordered and they all did as he bid. "Follow me,"

He walked back into the sewage grate seemingly being tailed by a crowd of zombies...

Hacks Hacks

As darkness enveloped Hacks her glasses transitioned to a thermal view. Her pace began to pick up, sewerage waste splashing underfoot as she broke into a light jog. Although her path ahead was still hard to scrutinize she could make out well enough the way she needed to go, it wasn't her first time down here. She was uncomfortably familiar with using sewer passages to get where she needed discreetly, to the great distress of Sam Rodarch Sam Rodarch . Grates overhead allowed light to trickle down and she could see the red and blue flashing of CorpSec speeders. The sirens continuing to wail into the night. There was dense activity of the Corporate dog soldiers around Seven Corners tonight.

In the distance she saw the orange glow of several warm bodies following something cooler. Reptilian? she wondered. Either way she wasn't interested in finding out. Her hands brushed the compact blasters at her hips, comforting herself to know they were still at reach. She ducked into the closest passage and began to move faster, her mechanical stride bounding her through the sewers at an unnatural pace. Her mind raced as her neural networks, connected by cranial cybernetics, began to access local unsecured networks. She was tracing her location while underground, attempting to find anything that could be of value to her.
