OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create an interesting location for an RP I have planned, and to provide some more information about my character.

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Delirium Fortress Ruins
  • Classification: Ruins of a Sith Fortress
  • Location: Malachor
  • Affiliation: Abandoned (Originally the Sith)
  • Accessibility: The ruins are not difficult to find, as they are one of the few identifiable structures on the planet. Actually getting inside them is another story. The ruins are guarded by force illusions, which are designed to confuse and disorient potential intruders. Additionally, several doors leading to important rooms are locked and can only be unlocked by thinking a certain sequence of thoughts.
  • Description: The Delirium Fortress was once the imposing headquarters of Darth Cyphos. It has long since fallen into a state of disrepair, and abandonment. The ruins of the fortress cover approximately three acres worth of land area in the Southwestern region of Malachor, and is one of the few structures left standing there. The ruins are decayed due to a few thousand years worth of natural weathering and only a relatively small portion of the fortress is left standing. Most visitors describe the ruins as smelling similar to a very strong sea salt, despite being located nowhere near a saltwater ocean. The ruins are also noted to make many visitors feel confused, uncomfortable, and nervous.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Security Gate: The Security Gate was the main entrance of the fortress. It had two sentry guns mounted on the top walkway, but both of them are no longer functional, due to age. The gate itself is around nine meters tall and four meters wide, and most speeders can pass through it without much difficulty. It was originally painted red and grey, but the red paint has faded away, leaving just the grey metal and stone.
  • Watchtower: The watchtower was the highest point of the fortress, and from the top, a person could see for very long distances. The tower has more or less collapsed, and what is left of it has long since been looted by delinquents and robbers.
  • Hangar: The hangar once held a variety of Sith vehicles and equipment for repairing them. Since then, most of the vehicles have been stolen, and the ones that haven’t are not in any sort of condition for being used. The hangar is connected to the command center through an underground passageway in case the rulers of the fortress needed to escape quickly.
  • Security Housing: Security housing was a large part of the fortress which held the recharging stations for the security droids and living quarters for the organic guards. None of the recharging stations work anymore, so the droids are no longer a threat to anyone. The guard’s quarters are abandoned too, but that does not mean that there is nothing to fear in this section of the fortress. There are several force-illusions designed to confuse and intruders, such as doors appearing to be walls, walls appearing to be doors, and staircases that seem to lead to oblivion, but actually just lead to the next floor.
  • Armory: The armory is where most of the fortress’ weapons were kept. The armory is protected by a thought-locked door which can only be opened by thinking a highly specific series of thoughts. The series of thoughts is: “Mynocks”, “Tantalum”, “Quasar”, “Hailstone”, “Open”. Due to the thought-lock defeating most attempts to break it, the armory is one of the most well preserved rooms in the fortress. None of the weapons have been stolen, and a surprising amount of the weapons would need minimal repair to be made functional again.
  • Cafeteria: The cafeteria was where the guards and other organic staff members ate meals and generally socialized when not on-duty. Unsurprisingly, all the non-preserved food in the cafeteria has decomposed well past being even remotely close to being safely edible by most sentient species. However, there are a few well preserved meals such as the “extra-salted bantha jerky”, which could theoretically be eaten by those with strong stomachs.
  • Laboratory: The laboratory is where Darth Cyphos performed his experiments, most of which were not ethical in any definition of the word. The laboratory is one of the least well-preserved areas of the fortress, as most of the roof above it has collapsed, burying anything especially noteworthy. The only thing that survived is a datapad with a cracked screen and a dead battery. The computer chips inside the datapad could theoretically be removed and added to a new computer, however.
  • Trophy Room: The trophy room was where various spoils of war were kept and it was one of the most heavily-guarded areas of the fortress. All of the guard droids have since fallen into a state of disrepair, but is also protected by another thought-lock. The thoughts needed to unlock it are: “Engine”, “Alternating”, “Sour”, “Radiation”, “Mustafar”, “Open”. The room itself is circular, and contains several laserproof glass cases mounted on pedestals. The cases all contain trophies of some kind, including dark artifacts, stolen Jedi lightsabers, heads of hunted animals, or anything else a Sith might find valuable. Of course, most of these items have not withstood the test of time, and are now completely useless, other than as archeological curiosities.
  • Command Center: The command center was where Darth Cyphos met with his underlings to make plans, get progress reports, and (if necessary) make examples of those who failed him. Just like the rest of the fortress, it has fallen into disrepair. Plenty of unusable computer monitors line the walls, and various rusted objects are scattered across the main table. However, the room is still protected by a force illusion of a fearsome, hooded Sith Lord. The illusion is not capable of actually causing physical harm, but makes terrible screaming noises capable of scarring away those who are not prepared for it. The command center also has an underground passageway leading to the hangar.
  • Sith Shrine: The sith shrine is where Darth Cyphos stored his Sith lightsaber and practiced entering the dreams of others. This is the best preserved room in the fortress, (likely due to the concentration of dark energy there) and looks almost identical to how it looked when the fortress was abandoned. To access it however, there is a third thought-lock that needs to be unlocked. The series of thoughts this time are: “Dreams”, “Slumber”, “Pensive”, “Power”. The walls of the shrine are decorated with Penrose Triangles, which many species consider to be optical illusions. The shrine has six rectangular, stone tables arranged in the shape of a hexagon, with a seventh circular one in the middle. The six tables are covered with various tapestries depicting things like the founding of the Sith, the Sith triumphing over the Jedi, and the power of the Dark Side. The circular table in the center can be sat on to enter a meditative state, and if the person meditating has dark side potential, a panel in the floor will open, revealing Darth Cyphos’ lightsaber.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Delirium Fortress was built on the planet Malachor by early members of the Sith approximately 7750 years ago. It was the base of operations for the Sith Lord known as Darth Cyphos, who was infamous for experimenting with entering the dreams of other sentient beings. Eventually however, Cyphos was struck down in battle with a Jedi, killing his physical body and trapping his mind as an echo in the force. Afterwards, his followers retrieved his lightsaber and hid it within the Sith Shrine of the fortress. The fortress eventually was abandoned due to all of Darth Cyphos’ followers dying or losing interest, and after a few thousand years worth of crumbling and being looted by local delinquents, the once mighty Delirium Fortress was reduced to ruins. Darth Cyphos still exists as a force echo however, and can still enter the dreams of others. Perhaps some of his plans involve his old stronghold in some way?
