CORPORATION INFORMATION

Corporation Name: Deepstar Holdings

Headquarters: Merovar, Gan Moradir

Locations:

Deepstar Holdings maintains a distributed network of major corusca gem extraction stations rather than concentrating its operations within a single system.

Its principal facilities include:

  • Deepstar Yavin Station - Yavin Prime, Yavin system. One of Deepstar's oldest and most prestigious active extraction sites, maintaining operations around one of the galaxy's best-known historical sources of corusca gems.
  • Deepstar Vesper Station - Outer Rim Territories. A major extraction and processing complex positioned around a remote corusca-bearing gas giant.
  • Deepstar Calyx Station - Mid Rim. A mature production site specialising in sustained extraction and bulk gem processing.
  • Deepstar Ardent Station - Outer Rim Territories. A comparatively isolated facility supported by extensive local maintenance and supply infrastructure.
  • Deepstar Halcyon Station - Mid Rim. A large extraction station with significant grading, secure storage and outbound shipping capacity.
  • Deepstar Kestrel Station - Expansion Region. The youngest of the company's principal extraction complexes and a product of Deepstar's continuing search for commercially viable corusca deposits.

The precise locations of non-Yavin extraction sites are treated as commercially sensitive information. Deepstar also operates smaller prospecting facilities, logistical depots, secure warehouses and commercial offices throughout the network.

Corporate administration, financial management, auditing, major sales agreements and long-term strategic planning are coordinated from Merovar.

Operations:

  • Corusca gem diving and atmospheric extraction
  • Gem processing, grading and certification
  • Secure storage and transport
  • Wholesale corusca gem brokerage
  • Luxury gem supply
  • Industrial corusca crystal supply
  • Operation and maintenance of specialised gem-diving craft
  • Prospecting for commercially viable corusca deposits
  • Internal logistics and supply services

Parent Corporation: N/A

Subsidiaries: N/A at present. Deepstar Holdings directly owns and operates numerous specialised logistics, extraction, security and commercial divisions rather than maintaining them as separately incorporated subsidiaries.

DESCRIPTION

Deepstar Holdings is an old, privately owned corusca gem enterprise controlled by House Varellan of Gan Moradir. The company represents the principal source of the family's considerable private wealth and operates entirely separately from both the Crown Administration of Gan Moradir and the planetary treasury.

Deepstar began generations ago with a comparatively modest Varellan investment in an established corusca gem-diving operation. The investment proved exceptionally successful. Through a combination of profitable extraction, careful reinvestment, acquisitions and fortunate discoveries, the Varellans gradually accumulated controlling ownership before expanding the business beyond a single operation.

What began as gem diving eventually became a vertically integrated commercial network.

Modern Deepstar manages almost every stage between the recovery of a corusca gem and its eventual purchaser. The company owns specialised atmospheric diving craft, extraction infrastructure, processing facilities, secure storage, transport vessels and commercial brokerage operations. Gems recovered by Deepstar can be extracted, assessed, graded, secured, transported and sold without requiring the company to surrender a significant portion of its value to outside intermediaries.

Despite its size and wealth, Deepstar does not claim exclusive control over the galactic corusca trade. Other mining ventures, independent divers and commercial operations remain active throughout the galaxy. Deepstar's strength lies instead in longevity, vertical integration and the ability to maintain reliable production across several independent extraction sites.

DISTRIBUTED OPERATIONS

Deepstar's principal stations are deliberately constructed as independent, functioning industrial complexes.

Each major installation possesses its own atmospheric diving craft, maintenance facilities, processing and grading equipment, secure gem storage, crew accommodation, medical facilities, administration, security and shipping infrastructure. A station can continue operating without routine support from another Deepstar extraction facility.

The structure protects the wider company from the political instability that periodically reshapes the galaxy.

The destruction, capture or isolation of one station does not prevent another from operating. If a system falls under hostile control, trade routes are severed or a station is otherwise lost, Deepstar writes down the affected assets and reorganises production around the remaining network.

Such losses are still expensive. A major station represents considerable infrastructure, specialised personnel, equipment and extraction capacity. Its loss may temporarily reduce company output, disrupt contracts or require substantial expenditure establishing replacement capacity elsewhere.

It does not, however, represent an existential threat to Deepstar Holdings.

Corporate reserves, distributed extraction and independent station infrastructure allow the company to absorb isolated losses and recover through financial reorganisation, altered shipping contracts and increased production elsewhere. Particularly valuable facilities may later be reclaimed or replaced if circumstances permit.

This policy has allowed Deepstar to survive repeated periods of galactic war and political upheaval without tying the survival of the company to any single territory.

STATION OPERATIONS

Deepstar extraction stations function more closely to isolated industrial communities than simple mining platforms.

Corusca diving is dangerous and highly specialised work. Extraction crews operate specially designed craft capable of entering the violent atmospheric conditions surrounding corusca-bearing gas giants, recovering gems before returning them to their station for processing.

Recovered material is catalogued immediately. Gems are inspected, graded and secured locally before being entered into the wider Deepstar inventory. Industrial-grade material, gem fragments and corusca dust are retained alongside higher-value stones rather than discarded, allowing the company to derive commercial value from a considerable portion of each successful recovery.

Larger gems and exceptional specimens are handled under considerably stricter security before transportation to specialised buyers, auction houses, industrial clients or Deepstar commercial facilities.

AUDIT & BONUS SYSTEM

One of Deepstar's longest-standing internal practices is its station-wide reconciliation bonus.

At regular intervals, every major station undergoes a complete audit of recovered gems, processed material, reported losses, secure inventory and outgoing shipments. When the station's records reconcile within accepted operational tolerances, every eligible employee assigned to that facility receives a significant financial bonus.

The system gives the workforce a collective interest in accurate inventory control.

An employee who steals from Deepstar does not merely risk personal disciplinary action or prosecution. Undiscovered theft can jeopardise the bonus of every worker at the station. Employees therefore have a strong financial incentive to report missing inventory, suspicious conduct, damaged equipment and accounting irregularities before comparatively small discrepancies become serious losses.

Deepstar's management is equally bound by the system.

Targets are not retrospectively altered to avoid payment, nor are minor legitimate operational losses used as an excuse to withhold bonuses. House Varellan has maintained the practice for generations on the understanding that the system only functions while workers believe successful reconciliation will actually be rewarded.

The considerable cost of these bonuses is accepted as part of normal business expenditure. Deepstar considers a well-paid workforce with a personal interest in protecting company inventory substantially cheaper than widespread theft, excessive surveillance and constant employee turnover.

OWNERSHIP & MANAGEMENT

Deepstar Holdings remains privately owned by House Varellan.

Ownership does not mean that members of the ruling family personally manage daily extraction schedules, shipping manifests or station operations. The company employs a professional executive administration, station directors, accountants, engineers, extraction specialists and commercial managers responsible for routine business.

House Varellan maintains strategic oversight through its ownership and appoints senior corporate leadership, but generally permits experienced executives to manage the company without constant family interference.

The current head of House Varellan, Sovereign Prince Arcelon Varellan, is therefore the ultimate controlling owner of Deepstar Holdings without serving as its day-to-day chief executive.

Deepstar's finances remain legally and institutionally separate from those of Gan Moradir.

Company revenue belongs to the private Varellan estate and its corporate holdings. The Crown Administration maintains its own treasury, revenue streams and financial reserves. House Varellan may choose to spend private Deepstar-derived wealth on public works or charitable projects, but such expenditure is treated as private funding rather than planetary revenue.

RATIONALE

Deepstar Holdings predates Arcelon Varellan's reign by generations.

An ancestor of House Varellan invested part of the family's growing fortune into a corusca gem-diving operation during an earlier period of Gan Moradir's development. The venture proved far more profitable than originally expected, and continued reinvestment gradually increased the family's ownership in the operation.

Over successive generations, the Varellans acquired the remaining interests and expanded beyond the original station. New extraction sites were established or purchased, while processing, logistics, security and brokerage functions were increasingly brought inside the company.

The resulting enterprise became Deepstar Holdings.

Its extraordinary profitability contributed heavily to House Varellan's rise in private wealth and allowed successive generations to invest considerable family resources into Gan Moradir without relying entirely upon the planetary treasury.

Arcelon inherited controlling ownership of Deepstar Holdings alongside his position as head of House Varellan following the death of his father, Olasen Varellan. He retains the family's established model of strategic ownership and professional management rather than attempting to personally administer the company.
