DESCRIPTION

DC-CEL-001 stands for Distribution Center, Celanon, Facility 001. Distribution centers serve as the primary method by which Hegemonic Automaton markets its products to not just the immediate local area, but large swaths of space and nearby star systems. For this reason, Distribution Centers serve a variety of purposes.

First, Distribution Centers are private spaceports. Hegemonic Automaton is very peculiar with the transportation of its goods. When product is completed on Ord Cestus, HA ships the product to a designated distribution center. In this case, Celanon. When the product arrives, it is either marketed to the planet in general or stored, as it is due for delivery elsewhere. The only ships permitted to utilize the spaceport aspect of the Distribution Center are those associated with Hegemonic Automaton or Arecneau Trade. For product that arrives at the Distribution Center that is due elsewhere, it is then transported by Arceneau Trade to its new home.

In short, Hegemonic Automaton only delivers to Distribution Facilities. Arceneau Trade then picks up cargo from the Distribution Facilities for delivery to their intended location.

Secondly, Distribution Centers also serve as a warehouse. Many droids are often stored here until they are delivered. The storage facilities of Distribution Centers are kept under very stringent security measures, but not so stringent that they are impenetrable. There needs to be ease of movement between storage and shipment, after all.

Thirdly, Distribution Centers also function as shopping centers. These are the only walk-in stores that Hegemonic Automaton has and so they attract a lot of visitors from both the planet and nearby star systems who want to get a look at Hegemonic products first hand. Businesses that wish to have stores in Hegemonic distribution centers need only ask. Naturally, they will be charged rent.

In terms of defenses, distribution centers are slightly less defensible than Hegemonic Automaton’s factories. While the shield generator used is roughly the same, there are a lesser number of defense turrets and droids on duty. Further, some governments do not permit private facilities to mount anti-starfighter turrets (for some strange reason) and other locations may not have them.

Potentially, Distribution Centers can also be used as bomb shelters in times of great duress, though this has yet to be seen or tested.

HISTORY

MC-CE-001 was the first distribution center established by Cestus Cybernetics when it was founded by Hannibal Oryen and Zothustro Quill. Once the transition was made from Cestus Cybernetics to Hegemonic Automaton, the security systems and protocols were drastically redone to offer more protection against saboteurs and terrorists. They were also upgraded to also function as shopping centers, for even more ridiculous amounts of money.

DC-CEL-001 now serves as the model which all Hegemonic Automaton distribution centers adhere to, with the exceptions of security restrictions put in place by local and galactic governments.
