- Dawnbreaker: This weapon is imbued with force talismans that consecrate dark force energy. As such, it's much more effective against defeating alchemically devised weapons and armor. Wounds to a dark-sider from this weapon also by consequence may inhibit their ability to draw on the dark side of the force.
- Can-opener: The extreme leverage provided by the weapons length and mass mean that a full powered swing from someone as mountainous as its owner has tremendous cutting capacity.
- Versatile: Poleax' were known in the days of yore as the queen of battlefield weapons. Both the butt-end of the haft and the weapon-head known as a 'croix' field their own uses in a duel, with the butt of the haft being used for quick jabs, or entanglement of the enemy or their weapon. The croix was used in a variety of ways as well, most commonly for hooking an enemy's legs, or delivering crushing full-power strikes to kill an enemy even through full plate-mail. The dawnbreaker has been forged to fill a similar role in the battlefields of 864ABY.
- Battlefield Weapon - This lightax is far too large to be used to full effect in tight spaces. Many of the techniques one might utilize in a duel are impossible without adequate space.
- The Usual Suspects - Water, and Cortosis are the achilles heel to most saber weapons. This one is no exception.
- Not a Defensive Weapon - Due to the placement of the blades of this lightsaber, it is not a weapon suitable to deflecting blaster fire.
Over a decade ago, Rhook carried this Lightax into battle in the Great Galactic War in defense of the Galactic Alliance. The Dawnbreaker was a weapon of retribution against the Sith and a sign that the Jedi who carried it had forsaken all illusions of being a peaceful ambassador to the Galaxy. It was a weapon of war and made no appearances to be anything otherwise. Discarding any illusions of elegance and civility, it presents itself as a weapon of earnest, open warfare as many lightsabers of old did.
