DESCRIPTION


Davon Karr forged his Beskar'kandar over seventy years ago in 778 ABY. In those days Beskar mines had only recently started to be worked again, following the dark times when the Galaxy was held in the grip of the Gulag Plague. It features a number of components common with Mandalorian armour, but is a full plate suit designed to protect the wearer in brutal close combat. Davon's suit is typically dark forest green, with deep red colour down the arms. It looks like it has seen better days.

The underlay is comprised of armorweave, a flexible fabric that also provides a degree of protection from energy weapons. This is also vital for protecting the wearer when an energy weapon has heated some of the external plates to dangerous temperatures. An energy sink at the waist helps to soak up blaster energy absorbed by the plate armour and tries to keep the wearer from being cooked in their suit. The plates provide exceptional coverage, whilst still permitting freedom of movement. Davon can wield a sword, manoeuvrer around the battlefield and assume every possible firing position whilst in his armour. One significant gap is the back of the neck. This is not protected by plates as Davon needs to be able to fire his rifle whilst in a prone position.

The suit is hermetically sealed containing a small hour long oxygen supply, a thermal regulator to allow Davon to remain comfortable in desert or arctic temperatures. It has limitations on its abilities, unable to protect against fire and cryoban weapons, but can stave off minor burns or frost bite and allow the warrior to survive in the vacuum of space for a limited time. Other than the inside of joints, the armor contains a layer of thermal gel to add resistance to blaster weapons. Davon has recently added a thin layer of Kinetic Impact Gel behind the chest plate. This provides additional protection from a strike from a kinetic energy weapon to the chest. A significant KE strike is likely to kill the wearer from concussion, so just protecting the chest seemed a sensible compromise.


Davon hunted a wild terentatek with a fixed gun and a Sith acolyte as bait. The acolyte didnt get devoured, but was left deaf by the cabin firing in a small cave. The liner provides Davon with a reasonable level of protection against Force powers.

The soles of the boots are magno-grip, allowing Davon to lock onto metallic surfaces, which can be incredibly useful in the right situation. The knees are covered by shock pads, similar to those seen on shock gloves. A solid strike from these can stun most humanoids.

The helmet is fairly standard, very similar to the Arbiter Combat Helmet or Hyperion Combat Helmet, with a sensor range of about one hundred meters. The visor is photoabsorbant allowing solar energy that hits the visor to recharge the internal batteries, allowing the helmet to be used almost indefinitely without having to replace the battery. The Helmet has a copper faraday cage to protect the delicate internal systems it houses. The aesthetics of the helmet are easily changed and altered to the wearer's desires.

A range of sensor systems feed information to the wearer. Each of the scanners provides an augmented reality display that alerts Davon to potential threats. Even when visibility is poor, the suit has a series of complex algorithms that combine sensory data from the electromagnetic, life form, and acoustic scanners. Even an unseen and shielded threat can be roughly detected by the acoustic target detection suite if they fire a weapon.

The armor contains two power packs. This soft, rectangular cells sit comfortably above either hip inside the suit. Access panels allow Davon to swap these out for fresh cells to avoid recharging those currently connected. These provide the suit with a plethora of power for its systems, roughly equal to thirty power cells. The armor has places for shoulder mounted flash lights and helmet mounted lights for dark environments. The armor has a tactical combat harness with a variety of tools and equipment options, as well as pouches and holsters for weapons.

Underneath the beskar plates sites a ferrocarbon strength augmentation frame. This suit is incredibly heavy and Davon likes to carry a variety of weapons into battle. Whilst he's still a heap of muscle, at his age he doesn't have the stamina he once had. This power armour is as much to keep him walking long distances with his kit as anything else. Davon, his gear and his armour are simply too heavy to use a jetpack safely. The frame allows him to hold his rifle up in a standing position almost indefinitely and aids in steadying his aim. Davon can use a sniper rifle from standing with exceptional accuracy with the stability added by the frame. The power armour roughly triples his already considerable strength and he has been known to run through walls when required. One downside is that putting the entire armour on takes roughly twenty minutes. Fortunately the suit has an inbuilt waste recycling unit for logistical reasons.

The firmware that controls the suit's systems is a highly locked down, custom code that has been used by the Mandalorians for a long time. It has a small attack surface, which makes it exceptionally difficult to crack into. Several separate routines monitor all incoming and outgoing for signs of malicious activity. If an attack is detected, to data transmitting systems will shut down, leaving the user with audio comms only. A dedicated chip is used to hold crypto material. One of these keys is combined with Davon's voice signature and a passphrase to activate the suit's systems. These chips are exceptionally difficult to tamper and compromise. If all else fails an audio command will shut down the suit's firmware and reboot a smaller, lighter system with no external comms. This means that if the suit is compromised by a slicer, Davon can reboot and still use his power armour. On the downside the augmented reality HUD and sensor information will no longer be available to him.

Finally the field disruptor allows him to compromise personal shields. This cannot be activated at the same time as the wrist mounted shield on the armour. Normally Davon uses the shield to approach an enemy when there isn't suitable terrain to close in cover. Then the field disruptor can deal with personal shielding, allowing him to strike with his beskad.
