PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Calm, collected and cunning, Vodrux is antithetical towards the common stereotype of a Sith lord being driven solely by their emotions, ruled by anger and hate alone. A charming man, with a great force of personality and geniality, this outer veneer nevertheless conceals a calculating and ruthless mind that will stop at nothing to achieve its ambitions. Fancying himself to be a new generation of, and the avant garde in the reformation of Sith ideology, Vodrux espouses a branch of Sith philosophy blended with external influences that the more orthodox members of the order would rightfully deem to be heretical in nature. He has gathered about himself a following, who name themselves the Scorpion Order, and they collectively spread this intoxicating new ideology through proselytization and violence.

Whereas the orthodox Sith preach the enforcement of rule by the strong over the weak, Vodrux promotes the usurpation of power by the weak, who in turn become strong themselves. Whereas the traditional Sith stand by their belief in the power of the Dark Side, wantonly channeled through powerful emotions, the Scorpion Order believes in treating the Dark Side of the Force as a useful, but hazardous resources to be drawn upon with restraint and care. Where the conformist Sith eschew love and treat their powerbase as cattle and cannon fodder, Darth Vodrux inspires an idolatrous form of devotion and loyalty amongst his band of fanatics, all the better to have them willingly sacrifice themselves without coercion for the advancement of his goals. The Scorpion Order and their dark master do not shy away from calling upon the Light Side of the Force when it can be useful, and pragmatic mercy is not unknown to them, when the one being spared is of value in the furthering of their machinations.

STRENGTHS

  • Mastery of the Dark Side of the Force, with some rudimentary knowledge of the Light Side
  • A savant statesman, skilled in oratory and administration of various processes, organizations and systems
  • Skilled lightsaber duelist, with a Mastery of Soresu

WEAKNESSES

  • Megalomaniacal, and can be manipulated by those who flatter his delusions of grandeur, while also being distracted by those who draw his ire.
  • Parochial, and rarely takes an interest in the grander scheme of things beyond his personal, and provincial concerns.
  • Ignorant about the operation of most non-Force-based technologies beyond the surface level, and prefers to delegate such "lesser tasks" to his subordinates. This includes the operation of vehicles and starships, the firing of blasters, and any interactions with droids, databases and computers beyond the basics.

HISTORY

Born a slave into the service of a Sith Lord whose name he has since never spoken, the man who would become Darth Vodrux spent the first sixteen years of his life under unimaginably harsh conditions. He was torn away from the shielding touch of his parents' arms on his sixth nameday, and he was put to work alongside the other younglings in his master's estate, tending to his fields and his industries so that he could maintain his lifestyle and his powerbase. As he grew older, he was shifted into steadily more laborious roles from the planting and harvesting of crops, to mining, to salvaging scrap, to working in the assembly lines of the Sith Empire's foundries and manufactorums. His back was covered in old wounds and gashes from the electro-whips of the Sith Overseers, and his face sported many a healing bruise for blows endured. The conditions were unbearable. An eighteen hour work-day in such conditions, only to be brought back to their holding pens and served hardtack and rancid nerf meat. The dinner stews were greasy with stinking lard, and yet, the young man lapped it up each night like a starving animal. And so his life continued until one day, something snapped. An overseer swung the electro-whip one time too many. The unfortunate soul elicited an abuse one word, too many. In a fit of blind fury, the man who would become Sith turned upon the Overseer, like a rabid hound biting the hand of its master, and he lashed out with the Force, causing the man to explode in a showering miasma of gore.

The display of power drew the attention of his master, who recruited the slave as a prospective apprentice. For the next eleven years of his life, the newly christened Lord Vodrux, learned how to read and write, learned how to conduct himself properly, and learned about the mysteries of the Force from his master. He proved himself to be a quick study, and he drank deep from the font of esoteric knowledge, growing skilled with blade and with mind. Soon, the time came when with the blessing of his Master, he gathered the materials necessary to craft his own Lightsaber, and it was at that time that he began to work as his Master's enforcer. In numerous shadowy missions, he hunted down his Master's enemies, advanced his Master's goals in the shadows and improved his Master's standing within the Sith Empire. And he despised and resented every moment of it. Every new piece of Force Knowledge acquired was a reminder of the fact that he was still a slave to his Master's will. Every crumb tossed his way by his handler was a gleeful rebuke of the indentured nature of his servitude. Lord though he may be, a supplicant he had remained, and he yearned for the opportunity to break free. And so, he began to plot. A plot, that would see his Master slain, his chains broken, and his flight from Sith Space and into a career of walordism.
