Biographical Records

Early life:

[REDACTED]

Inquisition:

Extraordinarily few people have access to the Knight Inquisitor’s records due to the sensitive nature of his work. However, two things can be gleaned from it: a near relentless pursuit of his duties and a ruthless execution of them.

Since the inception of the Order of Her Shadow, Darth Temerant has experienced almost undaunted success. Assassination, sabotage, espionage, extraction, infiltration, suppression of insurgents, retrieval of information, false flag operations… The list goes on, and these are only the files with tangible records. There is seemingly no job the man won’t take.

It is no surprise, then, that the man was promoted to the rank of Knight Inquisitor. The fact remains that he does not seem to have a life outside of the Order of Her Shadow, and remains, to all practical effects, a ghost.

Psychological Evaluation

Direct evaluation of the Knight Inquisitor has proven extremely difficult and unreliable. The Knight Inquisitor is not only privy to the Inquisition’s interrogation and evaluation methods, but as is expected of a ranking member of the Order of Her Shadow, is extremely secretive and seems ill-inclined to allow others to establish a proper profile. Though this proves revealing in and of itself, most of our data regarding his mental acuity and stability is directly derived from third party reports issued by his personal task force, rather than the standardised tests.

Personality Analysis - Abridged:

Knight Inquisitor Temerant is often described by his subordinates as stoic yet gruff during the development of his functions. Cold and reserved, as is to be expected from a man of his inclinations, he is nevertheless reported to have something of a ‘mean streak’. Highly intelligent and observant, he seems to have a tendency to deconstruct anyone he meets, only to strike at them with words when he feels the need… If not more terminal methods.

Surgical is another word that has been used to describe the man - a fact that is supported by his record. The Knight Inquisitor seems to hold a predilection for discipline and efficiency, of which he is highly demanding not only in himself, but in others.

Despite his impressive resume, the Knight Inquisitor seems to have a preference for jobs that are physically demanding and in need of violence, rather than tact and subterfuge. Whilst this pairs with his combat capabilities, it may also prove an outlet to his rage, which he does well to maintain concealed under any kind of public scrutiny. Indeed, whilst reserved in social situations under his true persona, the Knight Inquisitor is a reportedly terrifying presence in the field.

Furthermore, to say he is secretive would be a gross understatement. There are no traces of any manner of life outside of his military records. He is presumed to have several personas he adopts, when in need of concealing his true nature and identity. It is unknown how many he has, or how far they depart from his own baseline personality - or if this has any significant effects on his psyche.

Curiously, the words honour and loyalty seem to pop up with certain regularity during reports. The Knight Inquisitor seems to be well respected and liked amongst the select few who have worked directly under him, with one Warrant Officer Cando Acalli, head of his main task force, describing him as ‘tough as a Rancor’s arse, but fair nonetheless’. Despite depictions of the Knight Inquisitor as a stark and gloomy figure, this seems to indicate a latent charisma, and a knack for leadership.

Suspected Weaknesses

Empathy towards Non-Force Users:

Despite his status as a living god, albeit a shadowy one, certain reports have suggested the Knight Inquisitor has gone out of his way to protect members of his task force, and even Imperium civilians. Whilst this could merely reflect an aversion to wastefulness when it comes to productive members of our society, it could also indicate an emotionally misguided sympathy towards lesser life forms, and a deviation from Sith doctrines.

However, reports of his ruthlessness and brutality when dealing with enemies of the Imperium far outweigh these concerns.

Physical and Psychological Trauma:

Though such a thing is to be expected from all Sith in some shape or another, and perhaps especially a member of the Order of Her Shadow, it is still worth noting.

Despite his excellent physical conditioning and test results, it is the doctors’ opinion that the man must suffer from habitual pain - not only legitimate, but also psychosomatic, with healed injuries likely flaring up for no apparent reason.

Furthermore, the Knight Inquisitor seems to harbour an inherent distrust for anyone and everyone that borders on paranoia, and though it is difficult to diagnose, it is undoubtable that his lifestyle puts an inordinate amount of stress on his psyche. Whatever scars his body displays, they must pale in comparison to those his mind harbours. Whether he will continue to shape that distress into power or succumb under it, only time will tell.

Appearance

As of the latest medical evaluation, Knight Inquisitor Temerant presents himself as a prime human specimen, despite the plethora of injuries sustained over the years.

He is at peak physical condition for a man of his age and size. Whilst undoubtedly muscular, this has not come at the cost of his athleticism, the man maintaining a balance between his well-built physique and a measure of agility.

Nevertheless, he has sustained a substantial amount of injury throughout his career, which no doubt causes chronic pain issues. A considerable amount of his skin is covered in scar tissue, often overlapping over one another, making it hard to discern the true extent of the trauma suffered. Burns, blaster shots, lightsaber injuries and even claw and bite marks have all been identified during examination.

Even during examination, the Knight Inquisitor refuses to unmask himself fully, making it hard to discern what he truly looks like. However, analysis suggests he boasts a relatively straight nose, and a strong jawline beneath his masks and rebreathers.

He wears his hair long, though neatly combed backwards and tied into a small knot, with a fade on the side and back of his scalp. A scar that seems to be born upon his left cheek, and which makes its way between his brow to the right side of his forehead seems to be his most prominently identifiable feature. He has also been seen sporting small, dark rings that hug to the upper and lower sides of his ears' helixes, as well as a drop earring on his left lobule, seemingly emulating a blade.

Known Skills

- Combat Expert:

The Knight Inquisitor is to be considered a consummate student of the blade. The few reports by force users that exist on the matter classify him as a master of the Niman style.

However, unlike most practitioners of the form, the Knight Inquisitor does not seem to view it as a style of moderation, but rather, as a mould through which to develop his own style, further pushed by his use of force abilities to force his body well beyond human limitations.

Dayra Navaris had the following to say regarding his fighting style.

“He is not obsessed… He is devoted. I have never met another Sith so consumed by a pursuit of martial excellence. It is almost as if he’s afraid of being anything less than perfect. And it is terrifying.

He studies all styles. He practices all styles. And then he… He lets them bleed into his Niman. But there's nothing moderate about how he fights. It is hard to describe. He is erratically precise, and almost graceful, for how brutal he is in his execution. It’s like… Like watching a storm.

I asked him about it once. About why he fought the way he did. He gave me a long, hard glare, and for a moment, I thought he would dismiss me or… grunt, the way he did when something displeased him. He then told me that adherence to the forms was too restrictive, and only Form VI allowed him to explore and develop his potential and capabilities as a combatant. I’m not sure if he was purposefully deflecting, or simply misinterpreted the true meaning of my query.”

Inquisitor Navaris went on to explain that although he is quasi-religious about lightsaber combat, he does not refrain from other means of tackling his opponents, integrating not only his force powers, but technology such as blasters and grenades, throwing knives and hand-to-hand combat into his fighting style.

- Trained Operative:

The Knight Inquisitor’s record indicates not only extensive training in all manner of covert operations, but also extensive experience in carrying them out. This includes extensive knowledge of tactics and experience in their application. Read [REDACTED] for a more exhaustive assessment.

- Interrogation Expert:

[REDACTED]

- Expert Pilot:

The Knight Inquisitor has exhibited an ability to conduct an extensive array of vehicles, and has a significant number of confirmed kills piloting starships of varying categories.

- Engineer:

The Knight Inquisitor exhibits a knowledge and interest in mechanical and robotic systems that goes beyond the basics, and is reported to keep personal workshops in his ships.

- Survivalist:

The Knight Inquisitor has proven over the course of several operations a knack for thriving in extreme and hostile environments.

KNOWN ROUTINES

The following is an excerpt from a report by one Inquisitor Dayra Navaris, who was handpicked for a task force directly under the Knight Inquisitor’s command during Mission TZ-103. Due to the prolonged nature of the mission, and as a fellow force user who was often allowed to participate in his training sessions, she was capable of observing the Knight Inquisitor’s habits, as well as collecting information on his combat capabilities, as per her private assignment.

06:00: Wakes up.

06:00-06:30: Takes care of caloric intake, hydration, hygiene and revising the day’s matters.

06:30-07:15: Undergoes intense physical conditioning whilst simultaneously exercising force control. His regime mainly includes exercises which foment practical strength and agility, all whilst attempting to refine his motor skills with the force under stress. From personal conversations, I have learned that he also uses this time to ponder not only on the technique of the day’s form, but also in the philosophies behind them (at least, the ones he applies).

07:15-07:25: Short break to recover, hydrate and further condition his mental state through a series of breathing and visualization techniques.

07:25-09:00: Knight Inquisitor Temerant seems to follow a rotation, during which he trains and studies a different lightsaber form every day. During this time, he proceeds to train the chosen form of the day exclusively, from Shii-Cho’s relatively simple execution, to Ataru’s acrobatic offence and so on. The sixth day seems to be dedicated to the overall improvement of his main fighting style. I was never allowed to partake or observe his training during the seventh day, though following his pattern, it is safe to assume he practices the seventh form during this time.

09:00-11:00: The Knight Inquisitor attends to any pressing business. If there’s none, which is rarely the case, he’ll usually be in his workshop tinkering away. After prolonged observation, I deduced that in doing so he enters a state of moving meditation. When asked about it (repeatedly, the man is slow to trust or share) he eventually revealed to me that he visualizes combat scenarios in his head during this time. He also uses the time to take care of his second caloric intake.

11:00-12:00: Focuses solely on training his dominion over the force.

12:00-13:00: Studies new force techniques or, in their absence, trains whichever power he personally feels he needs better control of.

13:00-15:00: Usually leisure time, barring urgent matters. Most often reads or plays bouts of dejarik. He seems fond of the game, and has praised it for its benefits in the development of strategic thinking. He also takes care of his third caloric intake during this time (also known as lunch).

15:00-18:00: Intense training period during which he polishes his Niman, focusing on incorporating/adapting the day’s form into it. This includes eliminating what he considers flaws in his own technique, creating or improving on transitions and sequences, introducing elements such as force powers and a second lightsaber, etc, etc.

18:00-02:00: Usually free time to rest and do as he pleases, although he always makes a point to dedicate some time to meditation after his training, both to reflect on what he has achieved throughout the day and to strengthen his connection to the force. Otherwise, he attempts to occupy his time with productive tasks, be they menial or consequential to his plans.

Observed Use and Evaluation of Forces Abilities

A summarized compilation of force abilities observed by Inquisitor Navaris. Likely incomplete or inaccurate. For a more exhaustive read, refer to file [REDACTED].

The following are listed by category, ranking as follows: Apprentice, Adept, Practitioner, Expert and Master.

- Force Jump: Expert

The Knight Inquisitor seems to be extremely adept at environmental traversal, and makes use of this ability with regularity.

- Force Push: Expert

As a gifted telekinetic and a Master of Niman, many of his combat techniques involve precise, concentrated force pushes aimed at specific points in his enemies’ bodies or upon the environment. He is capable of pushing a considerable amount of enemies in one go, and can use this power as a wave (often by pounding the ground).

- Force Pull: Expert

The above applies.

- Force Speed: Expert

Darth Temerant is capable of inhuman feats of speed for relatively short periods of time. This ability, however, takes a great toll, and has been reported to exhaust him and leave him incapable of great force feats for short periods of time if abused.

- Force Body: Suspected Expert

The Knight Inquisitor has displayed feats of superhuman endurance, likely as a result of using this particular force power.

- Battlemind: Suspected Master

Almost impossible to confirm, use of this ability would nevertheless line up with his suite of skills, and would explain reports of his martial prowess to some extent.

- Tutaminis: Adept

The Knight Inquisitor has been observed to withstand and even absorb the brunt of force powers used offensively against him if he sees them coming, but as a rule of thumb, seems to prefer dodging them, likely because this ability requires a great deal of concentration. The Knight Inquisitor is also potentially capable of withstanding a lightning bolt with his lightsaber (although it is unclear if this is an example of Tutaminis).

- Telekinesis: Expert

One of his main areas of study, as stated above, Darth Temerant often combines his physical training with heavy lifting of objects through the force, meticulous control over smaller objects and even a combination of the two. The Knight Inquisitor is also able to force choke and even force crush enemies (or parts of them) with a considerable amount of control. He has also exhibited uses of telekinesis when building droids and other machinery that require a very fine amount of motor control.

- Breath Control: Suspected Practitioner

Though the Knight Inquisitor is known to use rebreathers with regularity, both for practical reasons as well as concealment of his features, he is suspected to be capable of using this power to considerable effect, given his prolonged exposure to environments without breathable air. This lines up with his known penchant for survivalism.

Force Bellow: Practitioner

The Knight Inquisitor has exhibited use of this power, especially in the heat of battle. As a quirk, he tends to use it directly on his enemies’ ears, often deafening them or literally liquifying their brains.

As a downside, use of this ability seems to have a considerable toll on his throat and vocal chords, which exhibit some residual damage from past trauma. As such, it is capable of rendering him mute for hours at a time.

Detoxify Poison: Suspected Expert

Entering the realm of speculation, the Knight Inquisitor makes -habitual- requests for all manner of poisons, drugs and toxins from our scientists and even Sith Alchemists. Although such is to be expected from a man in his position, these go far beyond what even one such as he might require in the line of duty.

It is suspected that the man microdoses himself with several toxins in order to build immunity to them, and train his ability to flush his system from nocive elements. This likely has other benefits, such as being able to imbibe large quantities of alcohol whilst keeping a clear head, as well as resisting interrogation techniques reliant on the use of mind altering drugs.

Tapas: Suspected Master

The Knight Inquisitor is known to have undertaken missions in planets that boasted extremely harsh environmental conditions for regular humanoids - not least of all his time in Kerest (refer to mission code XX-327).

Whilst unconfirmed, it is likely that Darth Temerant is an expert practitioner.

Force Concealment: Master

For all his combat prowess, this is perhaps the Knight Inquisitor’s most astounding and formidable ability.

It is unclear how he learned how to control this technique to such a level, but the Knight Inquisitor seems, to all effects, capable of completely concealing his presence in the force. As far as Inquisitor Navaris’ reports are concerned, this seems to be as natural to him as breathing, his concealment remaining even in his sleep. It is unclear what manner of conditioning he underwent to acquire such a level of refinement, but even under considerable scrutiny, the Inquisitor was incapable of detecting the man’s presence in the force.

It is unclear whether his lack of outward signs of dark side corruption are somehow tied to this ability.

Alter Environment - Practitioner

Darth Temerant spends a lot of his time meditating on the force, and particularly the dark side.He has been seen using this technique to great theatrical effect, often to reinforce intimidation tactics, or to give himself and his teams a tactical advantage in the field.

Beast Control - Suspected Expert

The Knight Inquisitor has been known to use this ability, though little is known about the extent of his abilities. He seems to have a predilection for pack animals, curiously enough: predators, in particular.

Force Barrier - Apprentice

Darth Temerant is capable of withstanding quite a bit of damage in points of impact if he is prepared, but not indefinitely. Due to the concentration requirements, it seems to hinder his ability to fight freely whilst in use.

Force Lightning - Expert

A staple in any Sith’s arsenal, the Knight Inquisitor is capable of using force lightning to deadly effect. He can also use this power in the form of chain lightning, affecting several enemies at once. The more enemies he chains, however, the more likely it is to incapacitate rather than kill.

Force Persuasion - Adept

The Knight Inquisitor has been seen using this ability to exploit people’s fear. He is also capable of basic ‘mind tricks’ on those that are weak willed, though he does not seem to overly abuse this technique.

Sith Sorcery

The Knight Inquisitor is not known to dabble in the sorcerous arts.

Sith Alchemy

The Knight Inquisitor has not exhibited personal interest in this area of study.

Agent’s Note: Shortly after handing in her report, Inquisitor Dayra Navaris disappeared without a trace. Knight Inquisitor Temerant has denied any knowledge regarding this matter when questioned about it. With no tangible leads to follow, the case of her disappearance grew cold, and is currently archived.

RP Hooks!:

  • “Always two there are, no more no less. A master and an apprentice.”

Remained vague about a possible master to give someone the opportunity to jump in. I have a couple set in stone specifics about his training and upbringing in my headcanon, but nothing that can’t be discussed. Still, they would have to be a rather high ranking member of the Tsis’Kaar, if not the Inquisition.

Alternatively (or even simultaneously, so my quote is kinda ruined) I’d also be willing to take on an apprentice! I’m an experienced writer and I enjoy writing mentor roles.

  • To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!

Temerant sometimes makes use of a task force, or works with individual agents and soldiers. If you wish to get up to some black ops shenanigans, or maybe even just hunting some enemies of the Imperium, hit me up! Alternatively, if you wish to be hunted by the Inquisitor, that can also be arranged. ^^

  • “Oh, what a tangled web we weave.”

As an Inquisitor of a certain rank, Temerant has informants and contacts all over the known galaxy. Though many of these are handled by underlings, most of whom don’t even know who is pulling their strings, he has personally built connections of his own, usually under one of his personas. This allows for a wide range of interactions with characters from all sorts, so feel free to give me a shout and we’ll figure something out!

  • “You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die.”

Temerant is an avid duelist. Be you a Jedi or a Sith looking for an epic clash, I’m game. Hell, even if your character is not force sensitive, all conflict is welcome. ^^

* Note: This bio is still a work in progress in some aspects. I will try and fill it out as RP progresses and I have some more tangible answers for things like 'assets and associates'. I also tried to make it nicer looking, but was defeated by my own ignorance (and I have discovered, tabs are the bane of my existence). Maybe in the future.
