This interest, turned near obsession now that the Dark Side has drawn him to seek more power, has been a constant pursuit and as such he has become a fairly reliable source of knowledge for his allies.

-Corrupted: Having been seduced by the Dark Side of the Force and now free to give in to his emotions and whims as he pleases, Darth Schol is now easily influenced by the corruption of the Dark and gives into his desires fairly easily.
-"I'm a scientist not a fighter!": Although Darth Schol is far from completely useless with his lightsaber and his Force abilities, that is not his area of expertise. Holding his own in combat is certainly something he can do, but he is a scientist and philosopher by heart and as such will often avoid outright conflicts that he doesn't believe he can win.
