"Through victory, my chains are broken."
— The Sith Code
— The Sith Code
OVERVIEW:
A Sith Lord of ancient days, with much knowledge but little power remaining. Still, be wary of him for what he lacks in power he makes up in cleverness. It always seems as though he is seeking something, and be even more wary if he thinks you can help him to achieve a goal.
PERSONALITY:
Grimm is known to be highly intelligent and manipulative, though he can appear to be kind and gentle on first impressions. In his aged state, he has trouble maintaining this facade and will break down if he becomes frustrated or impatient with people. He is known to offer gifts, and impart knowledge though he is also well known to keep the most useful knowledge to himself, always baiting but never fully divulging his stores of knowledge. He is a collector of holocrons and knowledge as well, though he also possesses an eidetic memory, so has no actual use for them besides single-viewing.After getting to know Grimm, people will often speak of his temper. If someone is decided to be useless to him, he is often prone to ignoring them and becoming apathetic to their presence. He does not view people as anything more than tools, but he considers the female of most species to be superior to their male counterparts.
STRENGTHS:
He has great and ancient knowledge which he rarely shares, and increasingly covets. His eyes are advanced old technology, and are capable of seeing multiple bandwidths of light and radiation. His power, though weak, can be amplified by drawing from the Soul Gem he carries. He carries a lightsaber staff made from Impervium, an ancient stone used in walls and fortifications created to defend against Force-Users. Once he was able to fight at a distance with this weapon, and was considered one of the greatest duelists in the ancient world, but he has since become crippled and old and now mostly only uses the weapon as a walking stick.
WEAKNESSES:
He is old, ancient, and decrepit. He is extraordinarily fragile. Wracked by fits of coughing that are all but debilitating. He has been rendered unable to transfer his soul, as he was defeated during the last attempt by the Jedi Katarine Ryiah. He can barely stand without his pike, which he uses as a staff. He is weakened in the Force as well by his condition, and must feed on the essences of long defeated foes.
BACKGROUND:
Darth Grimm was born before the First Great Schism, and was one of the fifty Jedi seduced by the Bendu teachings of Xendor. He specialized in Rune-Crafting and Alchemy, though he almost never engages in those skills any longer. Grimm was one of the first Dark Jedi to set foot on the Sith Homeworld and be worshipped as a god. He was a great geneticist and scientist who helped to create some of the worst terrors and first Sithspawn in the known galaxy, including the Massassi. Knowing that he was not as powerful as Xendor, but also that he was more clever, Grimm seeded many species with his own genetic material, and bound his immortal soul to a Soul Stone, so that he would have unlimited chances to rise again.
Before the First Sith-Jedi War, Grimm was murdered by a fellow Sith but his legacy lived on through his holocron, which was housed in his tomb on Korriban, and his preparations for a future where he would return to life to again perfect the Galaxy.
The first known instance of him being revived was in 60 BBY when a near identical genetic child was born to a family in the Mid-Rim. He was sent to the Jedi Temple and showed to have an aptitude for technology as well as the Force. Due to Grimm's own manipulations, the boy became obsessed with improving Galactic technology and built advanced droids, and a very powerful droid factory (who's whereabouts are still unknown to all but the ancient Jedi who defeated him and destroyed the factory). Though successful in possessing the young man, Grimm was forced into stasis and remained so until Galactic turmoil awakened him again.
Unfortunately for him, the body weakened and aged in stasis and when he emerged, Grimm was a husk of his former strength. Only his strength in the Force keeps him alive, but while he retains a great amount of his original strength, it is used almost entirely to keep his body from dying. A single interruption of his power would lead to his instant death. His strength is waning though and as it does, Grimm comes closer and closer to death.
POSESSIONS:
Although he appears to have little - no ship nor holdings, no wealth to speak of - he carries an ancient lightsaber pike, made from Impervium, a material that is highly resistant to lightsabers, and covered with ancient Sith Runes, alluding to it's powerful use in rituals, sorceries, and perhaps some tricks in battle that no one would likely see from him in his current state. If he were to fight with it, it tends to cause fear in those who face it. A general uneasiness and a general sense of 'wrong.'
It is capable of creating fissures in the Force, and may have been able - long ago, perhaps alone or in conjunction with other Sith relics - been able to tear doorways in reality, perhaps into the World Between Worlds or darker planes of existence. Whatever this power was, it seems to have lost it.
His secondary possession is a Sith Soul-Gem (or Soul Stone), which either glows dimly or bright red, depending upon the strength in the Force of the entities trapped within. He uses this to fuel his power, and can gain boosts in stamina, making him capable of fighting powerful foes for short temporary bursts, cast spells far beyond what he should be capable, or in one case, reviving broken Sith Holocrons and Temples.
Through it he can also communicate with Force Ghosts nearby, though this requires that they be willing to do so, since there is a danger that he can trap them inside.
