SPECIAL FEATURES
- Alchemy & Ritual Runes: Across the rough shata leather cuirass are numerous runes, each etched in Tuk'ata blood and infused with Force focusing and channeling properties. There is no enhancement or increase to Excidium's Force reserve by wearing this armor.
- Focusing & Channeling Runes: The runes serve to act as a method of ritual 'shorthand', allowing Darth Excidium to concentrate and channel his dark arts by touching select runes in specific order, utilizing a form of memory recall, to manifest the power required in a fraction of the time it would normally take to meditate and activate. However, the process isn't without negatives...
- Lessened Potency: The result of using this ritualistic shorthand is that the dark arts and alchemy performed is less potent than standard applications. This is due to there being a fraction of the channeling and meditation time involved performing a ritual (example below).
- Minimal Armor: The cuirass only really serves purpose for the intent of ritual assistance. Armor value of the item is simply leather, and while it may offer some very low-to-low protection from blaster weapons or blades or blunt force attacks, the damage avoidance would be almost negligible.
Darth Excidium has dedicated his life to the understanding and pursuit of Sith alchemy and the dark arts. So much so that his other attributes have suffered. His combat prowess is lacking, his physicality is weakened, and his only real strength lies in his specific discipline and Force use. After many years of honing his skills in the dark arts, Excidium has reached a point where he has put entire tomes and scrolls to perfect memory (see: Strength - eidetic memory) and has mastered many powers in the field of study. As a result, his capacity for using rituals and dark arts is higher than most, and he has sought to develop a method to create a quickened process, for times of duress or danger.
By using the runes on the cuirass he is intimately familiar with, Darth Excidium can force his mind to leap to the ritual or powers conclusion, through a rapid form of memory recall and energy channeling. The results, while taking a fraction of the time to cast or materialize, are a lessened power use that lacks the potency of sustained build up and concentration. One such example is, normally, Darth Excidium is capable of controlling up to a dozen illusions or Sith Phantasms at once, which requires a high degree of concentration; but utilizing the runic shorthand, instead of summoning a dozen wraiths, the cost of such a rapid result is more along the lines of two or three appearing instead. Another example would be if Excidium wished to enhance his physical strength, and by using the runic shorthand, the effect would be a mild increase in physicality for a very short period (10-15 mins), rather than gaining a burst of fearsome power for a longer period (a few hours). A final example could be if Excidium had to create a poison in a quick timeframe, and instead of concocting a potentially fatal mixture, it would instead be a weaker dark side infused potion that caused severe discomfort.
Ultimately, the trade-off for being able to quicken the ritual or dark art buildup is the lessened potency of the result.
Note: The cuirass does not affect Darth Excidium's usual methods of alchemy or rituals, and only works when combined with the form of memory recall and runic shorthand for that specific purpose.
