PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
How does your character act? How do they think? Do they have any deeply held beliefs or phobias?
Darth Engel is an oddity among Sith insofar as her behavior is concerned. She has no qualms about torture, lies, manipulation or anything else that a Sith is all too happy to resort to. She is by no means a stranger to violence of any sort. Though she ordinarily approaches problems in the same way that a Jedi Consular would, generally diplomatically and with some measure of reason. Those who meet with her in such discussions frequently find themselves surprised by her willingness to compromise to achieve her ultimate goals. She of course will not hesitate to betray those she makes deals with if it is of sufficient benefit to her, though she goes to great lengths to preserve her reputation as a reasonable woman who honors the deals she makes, so those she does betray are few, far between and ordinarily standing directly in her way, or are liable to become an issue for her in the future.
What her ultimate goal is she likes to keep to herself, not sharing more than needed with any subordinates or partners she may have at any given time. Her ultimate task is never revealed by her to anyone. She is a secretive, manipulative, conniving and wicked as any Sith. Though she values subtlety and temptation more than many Sith do.
In many ways, she is a Devil.
STRENGTHS
- Makashi: Her calmness and tendency to think and analyze has lead her to practice one of the most refined forms of lightsaber combat, which she has expanded upon with a few added techniques of her own and some borrowed methods from Soresu to perfect her form to be as lethal and efficient as possible, using numerous disarming and grappling techniques to control her opponent's weapon and leave an opening she can use to deliver a single, fatal strike.
- Silver Tongue: To be conniving and scheming is nothing new for a Sith. To be Convincing however, that is something that most darksiders struggle with, either being too overt, letting something slip, or making promises that their foe knows they won't keep, thereby making whatever words they speak utterly meaningless. Engel has carefully garnered a reputation as being reliable and trustworthy, practically unheard of for Sith. This, her calm exterior and willingness to meet in the middle has lent itself to her being able to convince others of her words more than most other Sith would.
WEAKNESSES
- Force Powers: Oddly enough, despite being force sensitive Engel is not capable of using more than some of the most basic of force powers. Not even the iconic Sith Lightning is at her disposal. This puts her at a significant disadvantage against any foe that can wield the force with even a modicum of competence.
- Black Heart: Though she is undeniably cruel as all Sith are, her heart is actually blackened in the physical sense by a venom, one that grows agitated when her emotions rise, leading to great pain, and if agitated enough weakens her physically, and even dulls her connection to the force. Prolonged conflicts, and any events that actually get her to become angry, afraid or otherwise connect with the tumultuous currents of the dark side in any profound way runs the risk of worsening her condition...
HISTORY
Darth Engel had once been a human girl born to a farming family on a backwater planet in the outer rim. Life had been hard but good for the first sixteen years of her life, she was normal, she worked the farm, ran errands, had friends. She grew up knowing only her village and the surrounding land, growing crops, harvesting them, processing them into useable material, handing them off to merchants to sell elsewhere so they could then pay their taxes and continue their lives. This all came to an end when pirate ships filled the sky and descended on her village to raid. They killed some, took others, and stripped the town of all valuables and tradeable goods, then they burned the rest, leaving only wrecks and bodies behind, carrying off with them those villagers that were young and healthy enough to sell. And that was where she found herself, in the slave markets on a planet she never learned the name of.
She was purchased by someone she never met, before or after her sale, and was put to work on a plantation in Sith Space. Here she labored for another two years, and midway through her nineteenth year of life she was discovered by a Dark Lord of the Sith who had come to collect unpaid taxes from the owner of the plantation she worked. This dark lord sensed her connection to the force, and put her to the test. Her owner had not paid his taxes, and this Dark Lord was in need of an apprentice. She was tasked with slaying him, if she succeeded she would be taken by the Sith to study the dark side. She accepted, her wretched existence in the plantations of these cruel people had broken her, and she took the mission without hesitation. Using her status as so low to be beneath notice, she made her way into her owner's rooms, and she cut open his throat so that he couldn't scream, and from there let her fury take control, mutilating him as he died and after until he was utterly unrecognizable. Then she snuck out of the main house, drenched head to toe in blood, and on the way back to the pens where she was supposed to be sleeping she was intercepted by her new Master.
She was taught the ways of the Sith, taught the ways of hatred, malice and cruelty. And she took to her studies eagerly, desperate to climb out of these pits of suffering she found herself trapped in. Not realizing until it was too late, that the dark side embodied suffering, and required it to become stronger. Broken as she was, she accepted this with time, and became a true Sith.
Her Master was a scholar, an archeologist and a scientist. One fond of finding ancient tombs, records and knowledge, and experimenting with it. One day he found a lesser known tomb, belonging to a forgotten Sith Lord who lived in the years following the Great Hyperspace War, when the Sith had been fragmented into several tribes and collectives throughout the stars in the Unknown Regions. Among the artifacts found was a suit of armor, one of sinister purpose. He forced Engel, his apprentice, to don the armor. Not telling her that on the inside of the chestplate was a long spike, that would penetrate her chest all the way to her heart, and when she saw this and attempted to resist her Master overpowered her and compelled her to don the armor. The spike pierced her chest, and pierced her heart, the armor then sealed around her, leaving no hinges or clasps behind that could remove the metal carapace that now imprisoned her.
Her fury immediately following this event was sufficient to grant her strength enough to betray her Master on the spot, and slay him where he stood, before he could explain what he had done or why. Leaving her to faint soon after, with no answers, and no way to get free. When she woke she was in agony, and it took her some time to discover that it was her fury that caused her pain. The spike in her chest hadn't killed her, but it had crippled her. Leaving her unable to touch the dark without experiencing debilitating torture, the source of which could only be the armor she was now trapped in. She walked out of that tomb a Sith Marauder, chained by no master, but nonetheless a slave still.
Now she searches the galaxy for a method by which to remove her cursed armor, and frequently returns to the tomb where she has gathered all of her Master's studies and writings, hoping to decipher a method to free herself.
