Faction Ad Darkwire

What is Darkwire?
Darkwire is the often unseen criminal side of the Star Wars galaxy. When corporations want competition to be interrupted and cannot be solved by legal means it is Darkwire that steps in. Criminals hired by corporations to disrupt competitors. Mod-junkies, fixers, slicers, enforcers, smugglers, bounty hunters. Whatever is needed to push the agenda of whichever CEO is currently paying the highest. More than a faction it is a story, delving into the conflicts that arise between those who straddle the line between the corporate world and the underworld. It caters to those who like to write cyberpunk-esque characters, corporate characters or your good ol' crime lords.

The Shadowrunners

The Shadowrunners are members of the Darkwire network. Alone they are powerful chess pieces in the greater machinations of the galactic corporate circles, together they are a force to be reckoned with. They consist of hand-selected experts such as bounty hunters, otherwise known as heavies in the Darkwire network. They do the heavy lifting that other Shadowrunners cannot, guns blazing they tear a path through the streets of Denon. The Darkwire slicers and cryptographers can crack the most complicated encryption, shattering security walls. Within the realms of cyberspace they reign supreme. There are those who walk between the two, mod-junkies, the cybernetically enhanced who delve in both combat and slicing. Those of the Darkwire network are elite criminals. When conflicts arise in market competition that cannot be solved by legal or diplomatic means Corporate big-wigs, wealthy individuals, and even organized crime syndicates seek out the Darkwire network, paying the Shadowrunners to perform their dirty work.

The Corporate Authorities

Years ago when Etti IV was subjugated by the Sith Empire migrating figures from the former Corporate Sector Authority sought out worlds more profitable than what they would endure under Sith rule. Denon was such a world, nestled between the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Silver Jedi Order. Corporate heads bribed their way into governance. By the year 858ABY the Corporate Authorities of Denon had been established. They dominated the planet with an iron fist, fueling their greed through nearby industrial and tourist worlds. Plying trade from Coruscant and Nar Shaddaa in the neutral corridor that snakes between the two major factions. Although the Corporate Authorities have viciously cracked down on the underworld through their security force, CorpSec, they ironically rely on this same underworld to maintain and further their own power and agenda. So the suits of the world use Darkwire to fight their proxy wars, hiring Shadowrunners to control and take out competition.

The Gangs

Although Denon is not as glamorous as Coruscant or down-trodden as Nar Shaddaa, it suffers the same issue any ecumenopolis faced; crime. The gangs of the underworld of Denon are plentiful. Smugglers running from Nar Shaddaa into the Deep Core worlds oft taken refuge on Denon to refuel or resupply, contact clients and establish networks. Bounty Hunters tracking down targets from the lowly dealer to the wealthiest merchant. While Darkwire holds a powerful position with the corrupt authorities on the planet, the gangs of Denon continue to smuggle spice, slaves and tech. Street warfare is commonplace in the lowest levels of the world where cartels and syndicates fight over territories. These gangsters sometimes affiliate themselves with Shadowrunners, working with Darkwire to achieve the goals of the Corporate Authorities or hiring out Shadowrunners from Darkwire to achieve their gangs own personal interest.
