Description:
The Dark-Net Relay despite having a rather ominous name and maybe even foreboding appearance was in fact a very simple, standard, and common piece of technology with only one simple twist.
A Dark-Net Relay Buoy is in fact the exact same thing as a Holo-Net relay Buoy. It functions on the same principal, with the same technology, and works under the same circumstances. There is virtually no difference between a Dark-Net Relay Buoy and it's Holo-Net counterpart save for two key factors.
These two factors are quite simple. The first, unlike Holo-Net Relay's, Dark-Net Relay's are a secret. Their existence, their function, and their location are a highly prioritized secret within both Vanir Technologies, and The Primeval. To facilitate this the Dark-net Relay Buoy's are painted a matte black and covered with a anti-sensor coating. This means that when not in use the Darkn-Net Relay Buoy is difficult, if not impossible, to detect floating aimlessly in space.
The second key difference between the Dark-Net Relay's and the Holo-Net relay's is its access points. Though the Holo-Net is publicly accessible through many devices and key communicators, the Dark-Net Relay system is not. Though the Holo-Net is ordinarily nearly impossible to slice into, its access points, like communicators and relay stations are it's vulnerabilities. Without these, the Dark-Net is significantly more secure, making communications harder to trace, spy on, and crack.
Of course this also means that in order to utilize the Dark-Net the Primeval needs specialized equipment, an expensive drawback.
The Dark-Net Relay, much like its Holo-Net counterpart is also incredibly expensive to produce and is no small product. Though the Buoy's themselves are relatively simple to produce, placing them and laying them in the correct spots in space is incredibly arduous, difficult, and time consuming.
