The Sith sent on the Mission to Fondor eventually returned to the One Sith's nearest base. By then, they might have heard of the fact that Darth Apparatus had been captured or killed.
When they entered the base, they were met by a similar looking figure - one obviously not Darth Apparatus though.
"The mission was a success," claimed the Dark Apprentice in a modified voice, "The Protectorate will now frantically search for their new enemy in confusion, and that copy of the past is dead."
Peering through his mask, the Dark Apprentice identified himself with, "Now the One Sith shall take hold of the future. As the Dark Lord's Apprentice, I welcome you back. Now, he'll want to speak to you all..."

The Dark Lord's Apprentice never carried a weapon. He avoided close combat as a result. It could have been assumed that his skills in such were subpar - yet he even went as far as to stay unarmed. His body also seemed to be awkward to move in. The physicality of the Dark Apprentice was extremely underwhelming.
Instead, the Dark Apprentice maintained an extreme proficiency in the dark side of the Force. Trained by the Dark Lord of the One Sith, the Dark Apprentice could use telekinesis to manipulate physical objects with ease as well as cast Force Lightning.
BIOGRAPHY:
After the death of "Darth Apparatus" on Fondor, the Dark Apprentice revealed himself to the Sith that returned from the mission. All demands of his proof as the Dark Lord's true apprentice were met with a purple-pink stream of Force Lightning and a demand to simply accept it as reality. He then took those Sith to the Dark Lord himself for their rewards - as well as their next mission.
As the Voice of Sector I, the Dark Apprentice was in charge of the One Sith's activities in the Republic and Omega Protectorate. Using the pawn he had posing as "Darth Apparatus," the Dark Apprentice managed to get One Sith agents infiltrating both governments.
At the turn of 837 ABY, the Dark Apprentice began preparing Sector I for the emergeance of the One Sith.
