Description:
The Dark Herald armor is the replacement for Shorn's old and battered Hydra phrik armor, which has begun to deteriorate due to significant wear and tear. After forming an alliance of sorts with the Ladies of the Cauldron, Shorn gained access to the variety of beasts which are used in the gladiatorial games. He requisitioned the hide of a particularly large Akk Wolf after its unfortunate demise in the arena. The Akk Wolf's black scales have been fashioned into a scale armor which provides protection from a variety of weapons. The armor has been stylishly inlaid with a gold edging, somewhat uncharacteristic of Shorn, who prefers to deride nobility and opulence. Indeed, the helmet itself resembles a crown.
- Akk Wolf scales are resistant to lightsaber strikes, blasters, slugthrowers, and bladed melee weaponry. Extended contact or a series of strikes in an exact spot will pierce the armor.
- The overlapping scales afford significant protection over the arms, shoulders, back, chest and hips. Knee-length boots have also been fashioned from the beast's hide.
- The armor does not cover the gap between the hip plates and the knees, leaving the thighs exposed. Additionally, the hands and arm pits are exposed as well as the undersides of the arms.
- The helmet's faceplate is fashioned as a series of ribs, with transparisteel in between. This affords a view that would ordinarily be segmented and debilitating, but it has been complimented by a holographic system that interfaces each of the sections into a single whole which the user can view. In essence, this makes it more difficult for a stray shot or saber slash to break through the transparisteel and wound the face.
- The helmet itself is made from stygian-triprismatic polymer with terentatek skull and horn lining the inside. The terentatek horn and bone offers very minimal resistance to lightning and other Force powers. The only significant bonus is an increased resistance to telepathic attacks such as mind tricks, but not illusions.
- The akk-wolf scales of the armor are coated and bonded with Stygian-triprismatic polymer, which is a harder form of duraplast fashioned from stygium ore and once used by Shadowtroopers. The polymer enhances stealth effects, such as shrugging off sensors, as well as boosts sound dampeners and personal stealth fields.
