PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Born on Ryloth in one of their poorer Human neighborhoods, Daniel developed a reserved caution and inate paranoia when interacting with anyone he didn't know. Believes in a vague concept of a higher power but not in the way of the Force users or those with religious convictions. Believes in providing a better life for his family and served in the Diarchy Army to grant himself and his family citizenship after he earned enough credits to move them all to Bastion. Traces lineage to an old line of Stormtroopers, hence the desire to return "home"

STRENGTHS

Leaf on The Wind: Grade A Pilot, can shoot a gundark in a meter wide area as they pull a sharp turn outta a canyon.
Robotic Eye/Arm: Faster reaction time than many humanoids, strong grip
Highwayman: His early days have left him handy with blaster pistols and carbines common in street battles.

WEAKNESSES

Metal Head, Robotic Eye, Robotic Arm: The plate on his head and Robotic eye make him vunerable to electric shocks. Even a mundane one can cause temporary blindness or render him unconcious or potentially damage the artificial gray matter keeping him upright.
Brash, arrogant at times, reckless: He has lost body parts for a reason, and will likely continue to do so.

HISTORY

Born in Lessu City, Ryloth to a shopowner, Daniel spent the entirety of his youth in the city's slums. They lived in an "ethnic" neighborhood, comprised almost entirely of first to third generation human immigrants, most displaced from a variety of systems during the turbulent decades that faced the galaxy during Daniel's upbringing. The hogpodge of human culture created in Daniel a strong sense of wanderlust, hearing tales of far off systems and planets he could only see on the holonet. The Washburnes were poor, as all their neighbors, and scrapped by best they could, his father, Scrugg running the shop with his mother Kreia. They sold various goods, anything they could get their hands on really, and had to defend their money with plasma on more than one occasion. Much like the planet the neighborhood was harsh. From his youth he resolved to move himself and as many members of his family, extended and all, as far away from the deadly world as possible. To him, the nature of the world itself was reflected in the denizens.

The day before his sixteenth birthday, his father fell ill and his son had to take his role. For a few months they managed like that, but his father's disease began to effect his organs, some leftover of his years running in the high radiation belts that scrappers combed in the outer rim. Eventually the doctors available to them couldn't help and Daniel was left with a choice, allow his father to die and remain in poverty, scrapping by till the same happened to him, or break out. Daniel took the second option. He organized a heist of an armored speeder with two of the other neighborhood kids and made off with the money, at the cost of both his compatriots and two security guards. Daniel had gotten away with a bolt to the shoulder, barely killing the guard as his buddies fell. He stole a speeder and got away with the loot. The money was enough to get a better doctor, but also enough to draw a manhunt from the local pd. They tracked him down and hauled him in around the same time his father was beginning his new treatment. The police did something he never expected, offered him a job. They were corrupt, working under some shadowy figure connected with the Black Sun, who had saw the recording of both the robbery and his subsequent escape and decided to offer him a job as a wheelman. The offer came with more credits he'd ever seen in his life and he took it immediately. Almost overnight his life changed. He moved him and his family into a nicer area, a higher up the mountain apartment with primo medical care for his dad. Daniel drove and shot for the next four years. Ignoring the parts of the job that made him less of himself, the parts that gave him nightmares, best he could. Focusing on his family. But there was always the nagging voice. He lost his eye in a robbery, a blaster bolt from a twilek pirate ripping thru his socket, stopping just short of his brain, plastering itself on his skull. Getting hit by blasters became a bi annual occurence, and his body bore the cost.

"This is wrong." It would whisper from the fringes of his mind. He would silence it. Even when people died. Even after a gamorean axe took off his arm.

This went on until his twentieth birthday, when he became eligible for a spacer's license. His employer sponsered him, paid the fee for his license and immediately set him up to smuggler with an old junker. Daniel preferred smuggling. He had alot of silence in the black and was finally able to leave his old home for stints, and had even paid for his folks to move to Bastion. The Confederacy and Mandos were moving around during that time. He went thru more than a few tense scans under their watchful gazes into and out of their space.

One day, four years later, after he'd paid off his debt and for the entire Washburne clan to move to Bastion, Daniel paid his former employer a large sum of credits and left his service unscathed. Evidently he paid enough. Then he met his family on world and joined the Diarcy Army to earn his citizenship and cement his family on Bastion, his record excluded him from the Starfighter Corp. There, he began to entertain the values the Diarcy Stood for. Benevolent governance being a totally foreign concept to someone that came from where he had.

The next six years of Daniel's service were relatively uneventful, patrols, a few skirmishes, and the open sky. This lull in his life allowed him to focus on the peaceful things he'd decided to surround himself with. For the first time in his life he wasn't just surviving. These years created a loyalty to the Diarcy that could only be described as patriotism, something Daniel hadn't felt before. Dan dove in, fully embracing his new life. Then, as everything was going perfectly, Dan got selected for the SDAT. Dan, who'd never even considered such service considering his past was floored and of course accepted, quickly proving his competency to his fellow agents while training himself to their standards. Haggardly, he earned his place.
