Malador, Akel City

"You expect too much of me, Jedi." The Falleen answered. "I can't help you anymore than I already have." He continued. It was the truth. "And even if I did have more to share. I couldn't." Jonat Xiz warned as he subtly marked the camera watching him.

Ran didn't need to turn to know the camera was there. She could feel it, the ways in which electrical impulses traveled across the force. It was a sense she trained. To differentiate between low level and high level technology with less than a glance was a necessity in her line of study. So her ability to sense was kept sharp, even more so among those seedy denizens of the galaxy's criminal underworld.

"So it would seem." She said with only the faintest sense of annoyance in her voice. To know they were being watched did little to unnerve her, but it did manage to put a bee in her bonnet. Still she took her criminal contact's cue. "Thank you for your time, Jonat. I'll be off then." She announced her departure clearly for the camera's audio sensors and turned out of the cantina and onto the busy street. There she could get lost in the crowd and reflect on the information Jonat had shared with her.

She pulled a data recorder out of her utility belt and to her lips. "Jonat Xiz, the Falleen fixer, failed smuggler, and current head of the Xiz Family has informed me of a series of purchases made through the planet's black market. All purchases were of Jedi Artifacts, and all purchases were paid for by the richest family on world. The Vabris-Valns. They aren't the type to be negotiated with but I will try. They also aren't the type to be trifled with, but should the need arise I am ready for that too. Serys out."

As she put the recorder back into her utility belt, Ran knew its message would be transmitted to the network of allies she'd been creating to deal with this case of stolen Jedi history. What she didn't know was that the network had already been tapped for surveillance by another.

To call the city an urban environment would be an insult to urban environments. It reminded Ellion Corsair of the lower levels of Coruscant, seedy, dark, criminal, and dangerous. But even in hovels such as these, innocent life continued. Men and women worked, children went to school and played, and families went about their lives as always. Local establishments were cemented not by brick and mortar, but by longstanding tradition, as family businesses thrived amid the scum of the galaxy. Perhaps he had grown jaded in his years. Once, places like this were home to the former mercenary and smuggler. Those titles were in the past, though the descriptive moniker 'scoundrel' still held weight even after his earlier years.

He eased through crowds of people and speeder traffic along the streets of Akel City. The dark leather vest accented black trousers and his white button-up shirt. The gun belt around his waist held twin blasters thonged low on either thigh, while what looked like a large hydrospanner hung from the back of his belt. A large pistol peeked from a shoulder holster beneath his vest. A short sword was sheathed on the outside of both calves, tucked into his knee-high boots. Despite the wavy dark hair, stubble, and carefree smirk on his face, the armaments on his figure spoke against trifling with the man.

He slipped into one of the many booths on the duracrete sidewalks, his head ducking beneath the dark, drooping canvas to look at an obese twi'lek, a deathly gray pallor on his skin. "Derm, about that information."

The fat Twi'lek coughed out a laughing fit before spitting a stream of blackened phlegm to the ground. "The price has doubled, my friend. You aren't the only one looking for your prize." Eli smirked before picking up a large crystal bauble of indeterminate origin. As blue eyes gazed into the depths of the reflective surface, Eli weighed the price and the need to find what he was searching for quickly. With a sigh, his left hand delved into his vest and pulled out a punch he tossed to the fat man. "I'm in a hurry. And I expect the info to be exact. Because you know if it isn't, I'll be back. And neither of us wants that, right?"

The twi'lek caught the pouch and greedily began counting the credits. He nodded, his lekku flopping like dead serpents around his shoulders. "A free piece of knowledge for my good friend, and even better customer. Others are on the planet, in this very marketplace, searching for the same thing. Happy hunting, Corsair." Eli grunted and caught the datapad tossed by the sickly Twi'lek before walking out, the crystal trinket still in his grasp. A cry of outrage followed him from the booth as his eyes scanned the crowd, already wondering who it was that searched for the Jedi archival files and artifacts. Not just who they were, but what they were. Sith, Jedi, or another party. Regardless, he planned on getting to the tribe first.

He turned and began walking down the street, the crystal trinket slipping into one of the pouches of his pants. A large green woman exited one of the establishments ahead of him, her size drawing his attention as he gripped the datapad in one hand.
