Name: Dainn stag
Designation: Non-sentient
Homeworld: Ziost
Language: N/A
Average height of adults: 1.5-1.75 meters from ground to shoulders
Skin color: White
Hair color: White
Breathes: Type 1
Strengths:
  • Dexterous Hoof - Dainn stags are wiry, sinewy animals that evolved in the arid mountains of Ziost. Their natural habitat are rocky valleys, high cliffs and sharp crests, where they easily hop across deep chasms, from one outing to another. Their dexterity is akin to that of mouflon, albeit much more elegant and controlled. Long jumps are often assisted by the Force, in a primitive version of Force Jump when jumping sideways and across. Vertical jumps are limited due to cervine physionomy, where hind legs do not have sufficient muscle power to facilitate frog-like upward jumps. Nonetheless, Dainn can ascend up a slope by jumping sideways and across, covering minimal elevation bit by bit.
  • Full Speed Ahead - Lithe constitution allows Dainn to develop substantial speed when running, especially if ground is flat. Their movement resembles that of an antilope, with Force Speed enhancing their running potential further to escape most predators.
  • Antlers of Pride - Stags have hollow antlers that are hollow and relatively light, but also extremely sharp. During mating season, male Dainn clash antlers in battle over does, with mutual mutillation and death by impalement not uncommon. Use of antlers is not limited to mating season; Dainn use it whenever they feel threatened.
Weaknesses:
  • A Heavy Burden - Dainn cannot carry large riders, nor can they drag excessive loads. Adult stags can carry a rider of 145lbs at most. This also limits the amount of armor they can carry to minimum. Burdens larger than stated cause fatigue and quick loss of agility.
  • Wild and Wilder - These stags are wild animals, rather than domestic animals. In this sense, they are not as servile as other Primeval mounts. They can be tamed up to a point, but will never be completely loyal to the rider. One should be satisfied if taming results in a "manageable" animal. Bribery with treats works in one occassion, but not in the other. Taming requires Force technique Animal Control, level Intermediate.
  • Hollow Inside - Dainn have hollow bones, which makes them light, but also fragile to blunt trauma. A well directed blow to side of adult Dainn can shatter ribs, which is exceptionally painful as bone literally disintegrates into hundreds of tiny shards. Healing from such injuries is relatively slow and the animal should be best put down in such a case to avoid additional suffering.
Distinctions: These Force-sensitive creatures have majestic silvery antlers and a snowy white semi-long coat that easily blends in with their natural habitat. Beady black eyes and beak-like snouts give them a somewhat ominous look. Their use of Force Speed and Force Jump is purely instinctual; they cannot be trained to enhance their natural gift. Each animal has different prowess in these skills and selecting the right one to domesticate is not an easy feat.
Average Lifespan: 15 standard years
Races: N/A
Estimated Population: Two million across Ziost mountain ranges
Diet: Herbivores - Moss, shrubbery
Communication: N/A
Culture: Hierarchy established each year during mating season, through combat
Technology level: N/A
General behavior: Dainn spend most of their lives hopping from one mountaintop to another in search of food in the barren mountain landscapes of Ziost, in flocks of about a dozen animals at a time. They usually avoid settlements and generally flee when pursued by humans.
History: First mentions of Dainn date back to ancient Sith Empire, where these animals were hunted down for sport and exercise. Their antlers were considered a worthy trophy and hanged on walls of many palaces throughout the ancient Sith Empire. Domestication was only partial at best, where some animals made it off the planet to zoos and private menageries across the galaxy.
Notable Player-Characters: N/A
Intent: To create a mount for primarily for Primeval witches, to ride into battle or for sport
