One of the elusive Nova sisters, Dahlia maintains something of a double life. By day, she’s known as Gemma Burton, a quiet and secretive woman. Her face is truly known to few, save for the wealthy men that she goes out around town with. But, she recently fell into quite a whirlwind romance with a very well-known corporation owner on Brentaal IV. At her insistence, he went to great lengths to conceal her identity and keep the news of their relationship quiet. They dated for only three months before quietly tying the knot. However, this love story ended in tragedy. The local news outlets reported that Royce Burton had committed suicide. In such a state of grief, Gemma was highly offended that the authorities had even suspected her. Needless to say, there was no proof against her -- and Burton’s new widow was left to grieve in peace.
By night, Dahlia is the owner and operator of several nightclubs. Dahlia’s Den is a popular haunt for members of the local crime industry. On the surface, it’s just another fancy club that is frequented by the rich and powerful. But out of sight of prying eyes, there’s a healthy spice trade operating out of the club. It’s also a scene for darker things… As a member of the Nova family, her mafia ties most certainly come into play here. Sometimes simply called “Madame D,” she offers loans to local business owners. Though she plays the part of a sympathetic woman, she is a ruthless loan shark. Those unable to repay their funds quickly find themselves in a world of trouble.
Dahlia cherishes her privacy, and is rarely seen without large glasses or a dark veil to cover her eyes. She trusts very few, and always makes sure to cast a glance over her shoulder. Worry and anxiety often take hold of her. Between her new inheritance, and her family ties -- she has a lot to be uneasy about. As of late, she has been quietly working to strengthen her hold on the Nova Empire and expanding her own network. With a good start in Silver Space, she continues to flit between her businesses and secret hideouts, working to cement her place in the crime world.
