DESCRIPTION

The CZ-840 Combat Shotgun is the latest in Czerka Arms' line of modern slugthrowers. Designed with close quarters combat in mind, the CZ-840 is constructed as a double-barreled, semi-automatic rifle with the capability to pierce through flesh, bone, and even light armor. In particular, the high-powered rifle boasts the ability to pierce through a 1/6" thick plate of durasteel whilst fired within its optimal range. However, this piercing power drastically decreases the further away the shooter moves from the optimal range; ultimately resulting in the ability to seriously dent a 1/8" thick durasteel plate upon reaching its maximum range.

The strengths of the CZ-840 Combat Shotgun indeed lie in its piercing ability and its semi-automatic firing. In fact, the rifle can fire as fast as the shooter can pull the trigger! However, it is not without its drawbacks. To begin, the magazine size of the rifle is eight; but in actuality the shooter will only be able to get a total of four trigger pulls before reloading is necessary. This is due to the fact that the weapon features a double barreled designed and therefore eats through two slugs with each trigger shot. Of course, this means that the shooter may potentially fire two types of slugs simultaneously; thereby epitomizing the versatility of the weapon. However, it also causes the shooter to reload constantly. In a battlefield dominated by energy-based weaponry, pausing fire in order to reload whilst the enemy's blasters can continue the assault is the main risk associated with the CZ-840. The secondary risk is simply getting within close enough range of an enemy for the shotgun's true piercing abilities to be effectively utilized. (Of course, this depends on the overall skill of the individual wielding the shotgun.)

However, drawbacks aside, the CZ-840 Combat Shotgun has another strength. When pitted against opponents wielding lightsabers, the spread of each slug's pellets make it next to impossible to deflect if fired within the optimal range. However, masters of the lightsaber may be able to defend themselves quite well against the pellets. As a whole, however, the CZ-840 Combat Shotgun is poised to be an impressive addition to any combatant's arsenal.

[member="Tyri Lsu"] - I'm not wild about a shotgun that can punch through starfighter armor at ten metres. Gimme some links on piercing power of 12-gauge, or cut the numbers plz.

The numbers have been cut and the description updated. It can punch through a 1/6" plate of durasteel at optimal range and can dent a 1/8" thick plate at maximum range. I hope that's acceptable. :)
