DESCRIPTION

The CZ-832 Templar Shield was the brainchild of the CEO of Czerka Arms: Tyri Lsu. Born a member of the Echani race, it was elementary for him to devise an armament inspired by the dueling shields wielded by his own people. The end result was a lightweight, durable shield that could be worn on the forearm of an individual as an excellent means of personal defense. The Templar Shield is composed entirely of armorplast: a ceramic cousin of the widely-utilized durasteel famed for its defensive capabilities against blaster bolts. On the underbelly of the shield, just above the straps, is a small generator and power cell that coats its surface with a deflector shield of green hue. This was inspired by the energy shields utilized by the famous Gen'Dai who fought alongside the original CIS centuries prior to the present.

On its own, the Templar Shield can shrug off blaster bolts and slugs alike with relative ease, but does not offer good coverage against concussive forces or explosions. Furthermore, due to its small size, the shield must constantly be raised and moved about in order to offer its holder protection against enemy fire; and therefore its effectiveness relies heavily upon the skill of the one wielding it. The incorporation of a deflector shield allows the Templar Shield to contend with the blade of a lightsaber for a very brief span of time, for continued contact (approximately fourteen strikes) with the high-powered blade of plasma will short out the shield and cause it to enter a period of recharging that lasts three minutes. Armorplast is, of course, not lightsaber resistant in the slightest; so in the event of shield droppage the entire shield is vulnerable to being rent through by a saber. This, once more, makes the effectiveness of the shield entirely dependent upon the one wielding it; and the skill of the opponent.

However, despite its shortcomings, the CZ-832 Templar Shield is an excellent form of defense for the duelists of the Templar Order. Its size is such that it does not get in the way of one wielding a lightsaber in the same hand; but it is noted that the difference in weight upon the forearm will make utilizing Jar'Kai exceedingly more difficult. This aside, it does not hamper power blows or the traditional forms of lightsaber combat, as it was specifically designed to be an augmentation to the duelist's arsenal and not a liability. On another note entirely, the shield's edges are sharpened and have the ability to rend through flesh and fabrics, but would be halted by traditional armor with ease.

  • Your shield is seven inches long -- your image doesn't fit at all. Do be a dear and photoshop the arm out or find another pic plz.
  • You mention that your shield can withstand brief impacts with a sabre. Is there an upper limit to how many brief impacts it can withstand?
  • Does your shield's edge have the capacity to cut? If so, how well?
  • I'm sorry, but eleven pounds of dead weight on one of your sword arms is like swinging an extra four swords. It will be a serious impediment to Jar'Kai, with that weight.

  • Image has been edited
  • 14 Strikes. Based the number on the duel of Obi-Wan and Durge. (Literally watched the video, counted Obi-Wan's saber strikes, and divided in half)
  • Yes. It can cut through fabrics, skin, and bodygloves; but not armor itself by any stretch.
  • And tweaked accordingly.

This looks good, but can you move the image citation from the bottom right corner into the OOC section? It's a cosmetic and minor issue, but I'd like the citation to be located somewhere that's easily seen.
