Custom alloys rivaling beskar

Question from a user is as follows:

While I'm still waiting for the company to be approved, I do want to make the 'Iridonian steel' regardless. What I wonder is could I make the material lets say Beskar grade with a long and detailed enough Dev thread? And I'm not talking 20 posts or so, but in the hundreds.

Recently learned about a crystal that could prevent the Cortosis effect made with a massive dev thread. I'm more than willing to put in the work to make Iridonians a threat in the galaxy again ^^
So... I suppose discuss. My initial reaction is no. I can provide supporting reasons if someone really wants to know.

I don't personally want to see a material anywhere near as easy to get or strong as phrik or beskar. For any member. Beskar especially, for a mando, is stupid easy to use. Phrik only slightly less so. If there was a precedent to let him make this, cool, we have to allow it. But i'd want a massive, quality dev thread and a good solid chunk of weaknesses and a lot of restrictions to use. Honestly? If beskar weren't cannon, would we approve it balance wise if someone submitted it? lol

That one crystal you were talking about had about 800 quality posts backing it. With that being said, blocking the cortosis effect does not need a special crystal. If you read canon, you will see that modifying your lightsaber in a special way will remove the 'shorting out'-strength of the material.

Anyway, if a guy comes in with an 800-post dev thread, quality, good posts and tells me he wants to create a metal like beskar? I would look at it, get 'im some reasonable weaknesses and then stamp it. Because ya gotta reward people for doing quality work.

Also, yes... We do have to take into account *who* uses it... And what their idea of 'quality' posting likely would be in a dev thread. And he wants this to make arms and armor for a company with. We don't need mass flooding of lightsaber proof/resistant weaponry. I love arms races, but i'd throw in the towel there.
