SPECIAL FEATURES

The Cusaeris armour possesses a passive sensor dampening. This reduces an individual's sensor signature, concealing a passive soldier in the field who is not engaged in combat, using active sensors, or making heavy use of gear from most standard sensors found on enemy troops. This is accomplished through a mixture of sensor blocking and sound dampening technology.

This is less of a boon in active combat, because energy bursts from weapons, use of comlinks, sensors and so on represent mitigating factors. It also does not permit large groups to advance without being spotted. The suit changes its colour from its 'palarade colours' to a colour shifting camouflage pattern that changes to match the terrain in a camouflage pattern. Moreover, the Cusaeris has a Biorestorative Underlay. This, along with injection ports on the arm and leg, a Bio-Support Dispenser and a small field kit increases the chances of a soldier to survive in combat.

The suit has an Arbiter Combat Helmet and commonly incorporates an Individual Field Disruptor. Several Eldorai groups are nomadic and thus it is likely that their elite soldiers will have to carry out boarding actions, so this feature is quite standard for them. Aside from these features, the armor possesses technology comparable to similar models produced by other governments and corporations in the galaxy. Its features are up to galactic standard and codes in terms of software, uses, and durability.

Strengths:
  • The armour is designed for troops that are a cut or two above common grunts. Aside from being endowed with a variety of support systems and allowing the incorporation of helpful gadgets, the suit provides solid protection against blasters, sonics and kinetic attacks without encumbering the wearer.
  • It is very resistant to environmental hazards and elemental attacks.
  • The suit possesses terrain-matching camouflage patterns and sensor/sound dampening materials.
Weaknesses:
  • Low resistance to ionic and EMP attacks. It can resist indirect hits, but strong blasts are an issue.
  • Joints between the armour plates in the armpits, neck, groin, legs and shoulder are weaker and thus more vulnerable to attack. This makes them good spots to target, especially with a lightsabre in melee combat. The neck is the most protected zone due to a gorget.
  • Only resists glancing blows from lightsabres. An attacker has to put strength into the swing instead of making lazy sweeps, but direct heavy impact will cut through it with ease.
  • Its minor stealth capabilities possess limitations. Active combat, use of comlinks, sensors and auspex arrays will mitigate them. This armour is not meant for infiltrators and spies. It helps soldiers avoid being detected while actively hiding.
DESCRIPTION

The Cusaeris Mk3 armour is an improvement upon older Eldorai designs. The Space Elves have come a long way since the days when they were forced out of isolation and found themselves confronted by Galaxy fulll of humans and aliens who possessed far more advanced technology. The Cusaeris armour had been the standard battle suit for the Eldorai Matriarchy's Angelii for centuries.

Similar to Stormtrooper it provided an all-encompassing suit which protected the wearer against a variety of attacks. However, the suit was hopelessly outclassed on the modern battlefield. It was extremely strong against the traditional weapons of the Eldorai, namely stasers (low-powered blaster/slugthrower hybrids), melee weapons, slugthrowers and shrapnel. But it fared poorly against blasters, modern projectile weapons and lightsabres. This recognition of inferiority fuelled development and progress.

The Cusaeris Mk3 armour is a result of this. It combines Duranium armour plating with an armour weave body glove. A variety of support systems are combined in this armour, allowing the wearer to utilise it in any combat environment. Being hermetically sealed allows it to survive decompression, and due to featuring a temperature regulator it can be worn in virtually any climate. The suit includes a thin layer of thermal gel mixed with foam sealant.

This endows the suit with some additional protection against blaster and slugthrower fire. It also enables holes torn in the suit to automatically reseal, as along as they are not too big. Power armour liner provides some enhanced resistance to kinetic and energy weapons, along with heat, cold, corrosives and toxins.

The suit is designed to be very resistant to the elements. This is pertinent because it is designed with elementalists in mind. Eldorai tend to focus on a specific element, so a high resistance in this area serves to protect them from the other one. With the fragmentation of the Eldorai species, combat between the myriad factions is unfortunately not an uncommon occurence. The suit has earthing rods to dissipate electrical discharge, and is interior coated with heat retardant material and interior cooling to resist anything but the most extreme temperatures (over 1000 degrees). The suit also allows heating to resist extreme cold. Elf ears are quite sensitive, so the helmet is reinforced against sonic attacks. The suit only provides protection against glancing blows from lightsabres.

Electromagnetic sole plates make movement in zero or light gravity situations easier. As is standard, the suit contains a body glove and can be sealed to provide an airtight shell for the wearer, along with a limited supply of emergency oxygen. Several features common to armour are provided as attachments. This is pertinent because the armour foregoes extensive resistance against ion and EMP. Gauntlets can be retracted if this is necessary for the wearer to use elemental powers. This is not always needed, but sometimes.

Jet or jump packs can be mounted on backplate. Oxygen tanks and energy shields can be added, changed and replaced. Likewise, there are shoulder and wrist mounts for weapons. Wrist weapons can be added and replaced as desired by the wearer. The suit features a thin layer of thermal gel mixed with foam sealant, providing additional protection from blaster and slugthrower weapons and allowing holes torn in the suit to automatically reseal, assuming they are not overly large. This is not as effective as a sealant patch but it is better than nothing, and is automatic. The boots can be magnetised to allow space walk and make it more difficult to toss the wearer through use of Telekinesis.
