Lee sunk his head as Allyson addressed him directly. It was reverence and a tinge of guilt, but no regrets. He knew what he had done, but he had no regrets. His head began to bob up and down at Allyson’s command to keep the next one alive for questioning, and still he had no regrets. His gods had been in danger and he did what any Kiaran man or woman would have done in his seat. The burden of the man’s life was not something that gods should have carried on their own, it was for the people like him, the ones who would have the controversy cleared off their name as time came to pass.
It was a bit of a Messiah complex, but the revered were above him. That much he knew.
“Yes, your reverence.” The men all bowed their head in unison towards Allyson at her command. “It shall be done.”
They let the Corellian lead them out of the room and out of the dungeon. They all separated for the night, guards got called in to keep the castle on high alert for the next few weeks. All that remained in the dungeon was the blood stains and the memories, and as Kaili got better she would make up to Allyson for the struggle her usage of the drug had brought on.
News would reach them that the man was a known madman and exile to the Peacekeepers of Kiara, the local force tradition. He was one of the higher ups in a cult bent on letting nature reclaim all of the planet, the equivalent of a doomsday cult on this planet. And while their members were hard to track, the leader of the Kiaran people swore to the two women that he would find them all and have them brought before them for questioning and a chance at retribution.
But until then there were other matters to attend for both Kaili and Allyson.
In the end, perhaps things would work out for the better.
