ADVANCED SYSTEMS

  • Powerful Tractor Beams
  • Plasma Cable Launcher

Strengths:
  • Powerful Tractor Beams: Able to pull, push, and tug vessels far larger than itself with its tractor beams
  • Quick: When not tugging freight or scrap the CT-34 Interstellar Tug's engines provide extreme levels of thrust and speed to make up for its lack of a hyperdrive.
Weaknesses:
  • Civilian Craft: It only had light blaster cannons to defend itself from stray debris
  • Poor Shielding: It also didn't take much to blow the ship out of the sky
Description: The CT-34 Interstellar Tug was a Corellian made tug ship for use in hauling freight, scrap, and damaged vessels to and from their required destination. Utilizing their powerful tractor beams and plasma cables they were able to pull damaged ships through hyperspace at blistering speeds thanks to its .3 hyperdrive. The vessel was essentially the bridge of their CR-series of blockade runners with engines strapped to the rear. Hidden along the front and rear of the ship were the vessel's powerful tractor beams which when used at full power could move and tow light large corvettes on its own. In groups the tugs could even move large capital ships like Star Destroyers. The CT-34 also sported a modest cargo hold which allowed the vessels to be used in a scrapping capacity or as transports. Because they were so cheap and easy to modify many small business freight companies used them to get their businesses off the ground. Because they lacked decent shields and weapons however they were dangerous to fly in unpatrolled space and made for a terrible fighter. Even in a pinch you were more likely to survive by powering down all systems and floating like debris than trying to blast your way out of a pirate raid.

The CT-34 was built on two cramped decks with the bottom deck holding the cargo hold and engineering while the upper deck held the bridge, modest crew quarters, and a galley. The ship took a crew of four to properly utilize the CT-34 to its fullest potential but a crew of one to two could get light jobs done or fly freight.
