OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Intent: To create a light but efficient material used to create extremely light armor
  • Restricted Missions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Name: Duraweave
  • Manufacturer: APEX Technologies
  • Homeworld (optional): N/A

  • Production: Mass-Produced.
  • Affiliation: Closed Market
  • Modularity: N/A
  • Material: Duraweave is a complex systematic weaving of tiny strands of heavily processed durasteel that are roughly as thick as thread fibers, which is complemented by a series of small generators and batteries that energize the steel causing it to have shield-like properties, although this 'shield' can only last a few shots before the actual durasteel starts taking the damage directly.
PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: synthetic alloy weave
  • Weight: Light
  • Resistances:
    Blasters: High
  • Kinetic: Average

  • Lightsabers: Very Low

  • Radiation: Average

  • Fire: Very Low

  • Ion: Low

[*]
Color: None

SPECIAL FEATURES

Micro-Generators: Systematically placed microgenerators cause there to be a 'shield' like effect on the strands of durasteel. However, these generators are rather small, and can easily shut down after only a few hits. Needing several seconds to 'recharge'. And these generators will eventually run out of power causing the armor to need to be recharged every three or so days of use.

Strengths:

  • Dura-Durability: Each individual strand of durasteel is quite durable, as the name implies, but weaved together increases their durability and even if a few strands should be destroyed there's so many of them that it takes a lot. Also, the strands help distribute the impact along the surface instead of the place where the impact is.
  • Micro-Generators: As previously stated, the microgenerators add onto the durability of the armor by quite a lot.

Weaknesses:

  • Lightsaber Butter: due to not having actual mass and just being a thin layer of threads, lightsabers can cut through the material quite easily.
  • Rechargeable: The armor must be recharged frequently, 3 days of inactive use, and every few hours if it takes a constant beating.
  • Clearly Visible: The Generators cause the material to have a faint distorting effect as if the object is constantly blurry.

DESCRIPTION

It was official, Brae had privatized a small portion of the military-industrial complex of the Chiss Ascendancy. She would not let her scientists and engineers linger, no, they were to invent something that would set APEX Technologies apart from the rest of the corporations of the galaxy, using Chiss ingenuity. So she put them to work with a general concept, a lightweight material possibly capable of being disguised as clothing.

She was not disappointed.

Several months later they brought her the first prototype in the form of a red glittering dress. At first she was skeptical, but when the.. 'test subject' survived three direct blaster shots, close range, from a pistol, and then two more a few minutes later from a rifle, she was colored impressed. Not to mention it survived stabbing, radiation (while the shields are active), and various forms of minor wear-and-tear Really where it lacked was lightsabers, which she saw as only a rare threat, and blunt force trauma which could possibly damage the organs, but few use such brutal means of warfare today.

Upon completion, she was proud of what her subordinates and ulitmately she had accomplished. With only a few minor mostly forgetable problems, the new Csilla Class Duraweave was complete, and she could see it becoming a trademark of her new company.

Hello, I'll be judging your submission today. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

This affiliation falls under Closed-Market.

Taking in the fact that this material is composed of woven threads of metal and miniature generators, I'm going to need this to be raised to Light.

Please add Radiation to the list of Resistances with a proper resistance level, also go into further detail on "other forms of torture."

The fixes have been made, but by "other means of torture" I meant wear-and-tear, ripping, etc. I'll edit it to reflect that.
