DESCRIPTION

Developed by Corellia StarDrive as a next-generation combat corvette, the CSD81 Hammerhead was never intended to play the role of a diplomatic courier. Measuring 150 meters in length, it embodies the hammerhead design philosophy of ramming power and forward-facing firepower, but with modernized systems that make it a formidable warship in its own right. Equipped with a Darkstar Particle Beam, quad laser cannons, turbolasers, and ion cannons, the Hammerhead boasts enough firepower to cripple ships larger than itself while shrugging off retaliatory strikes with its Laminasteel-Weave armor and layered deflector shields. Unlike earlier corvette models, the CSD81 was built for direct engagement and blockade running, capable of punching through enemy lines or locking down hyperspace lanes with its Phylon Q7 tractor beam. Its very high maneuverability allows it to keep pace with lighter escorts and reposition rapidly in battle, though its sublight speed remains average compared to more specialized blockade runners. With space for a modest troop detachment and a cargo hold suited for military supplies, the ship can operate independently for up to six months before resupply. Nicknamed the "Nexu" by its crews, the Hammerhead Corvette quickly earned a reputation as a brawler—compact, ferocious, and tenacious in a fight. While it lacks hangar capacity for starfighter support, its blend of heavy guns, advanced defensive systems, and advanced sensors make it a reliable and lethal addition to any fleet, capable of outlasting and outfighting many of its peers.
