Crystal Dreams

Temple Ruusan
Forge

Every good Jedi Temple had a workshop-turned-forge that you could work on things in. For example, you could take the time out to finely craft your lightsaber hilt and crystals, making your weapon into the deadliest and most personal expression of self possible. You could make new gear, like camera droids. You could even forge new armour, which very few Jedi opted to do. Zane Watts was very few Jedi.

...

Okay, that made way more sense in my head. Of course he's very few Jedi. He's just one. Duh.

So, we have Zane Watts, clone extraordinaire, Jedi Knight and protector of the Galaxy. At this point in time, Zane was very happily standing around with his new, pristine-white armour sitting on the table, robe folded neatly on top of it. Unsurprisingly, it was a re-creation of his existing armour as part of Jedi Strike Ops; he liked the way it looked and had every intention of keeping it that way. However, he'd made some modifications to it in order to make it better for him as a Jedi Knight to deploy into battle carrying some big guns while keeping his mobility. Basically he was going to make himself more badass, as usual. He'd spent the better part of a week building his new kit, testing the plates, shaping it to his body, what have you; he'd worked long and hard on his new armour, and it showed.

However, it was a little strangely incomplete. Sitting in the back of the wrist plates were two massive holes. In Zane's hand were two raw lightsaber crystals and sitting on the bench were all the tools needed in order to implant said crystals into medallions and put them into the armour. Here was the problem: the Sith had access to amulets, which amplified their power, which were essentially tuned crystals. The Jedi, in theory, could do the same thing, right? Right. So, if a Jedi Knight could tune the power of the Force and replicate the effect, they could make something identical to Sith Amulets and get on the whole idea of making shiny toys to counteract the Sith.

The only downside to this: Zane sucked at the Force. He'd need a little help.

Suppose you had a planet, just any planet, and it did not harbour a nexus of the Force. On any such planet, the ginger master had a depth and breadth of connection and sensory perception in the Force that was possibly unparalleled, in aspects such as distance, detail, and so on, right out to sheer power. Now consider that this aforementioned master was on a world possessing what has long been considered the most powerful Force nexus in the galaxy. Lastly, add to your considerations that this one master has been 'at it' for a very long time. Extrapolate further.

You get the idea.

But Nytrau was only a healer as most would believe, and by Force-given gift it was fact to a certain extent that he was content to perpetuate. In truth, the man was not only a healer, but preventer, protector, and devoted adherent to the Light. There was more he could do than he let on in his manner and comportment. So what was he doing here, on Ruusan?

Why, he was milling about. Poking around. How long had it been since he last set foot on this world? Too, too long. The temple of the Jedi that sat on this world was new to his eyes, and therefore worth giving a looksee... and after a time on this highly observant, exploratory looksee, he found himself at the Forge. Now, if it had been a great deal of time since he had been on Ruusan, it had been even longer since he had last entered a Jedi forge. Yet here he was, and so was someone else.

It was unlike Jedi such as Ilias Nytrau to believe in chance and luck. No, it was certain he was here for a Force- ordained reason, as far as his beliefs would have it. So what did he do? Well, it was quite simple, really - he softy cleared his throat, and smiled in the direction of [member="Zane Watts"], hands folded together behind him.

By the time Ilias had actually showed up, Zane was still stumped with the crystals in his hand. The second he heard someone else arrive by clearing their throat, the Colonel turned around to see someone arrive - certainly powerful in the Force, if the warm feeling flowing through the room was any indication of control. This should be good.

"Hey," Zane said, turning round and greeting the Jedi Master with a smile. "Don't mind me, I'm just stuck with this crazy problem. I'm Zane Watts."

And for those who did know Ben, which was probably every Master because we all know they have a secret cabal, he looked identical to the man who now had a beard, except slightly younger and beardless. A shame, because having a beard is great, but this isn't bizarro world.

Zane tossed one of the unformed crystals up into the air and then paused - as the blue crystal landed in his hand once more, he realised something. This guy was probably good enough to help him. "Actually, you might know something about this. Do you know anything about Force amulets? The kind that amplify power?"
