Crossing the divide

Arla smiled, "yes I'm sure my gentle pushing you do to things was something you missed" She . Laughed as they walked along. "I'm already growing tired of war, it seems it is all we do. I want more. Different."

Arla shouldered the weapon. "I know you enjoy it. I just think we should be more, don't you Verz"

Verz laughed at Arla's little joke. He smiled at her, enjoying her company. When she said she was tired of war, Verz was a bit surprised.

"Don't you see Arl'ika? We have become more than just warriors. Our people have entered a new era, from the moment the Bear became Mand'alor the Rebuilder, we have become a force in the galaxy one more. Our ships and weapons are sold across the galaxy, the Sith Empire was crushed under our heel, and we have beaten back the forces of darkness time and time again."

Verz paused, remembering battles and wars and the clash of arms. The sounds of blasterfire and lightsabers, death screams and war cries. War was part of the Mandalorians' blood. It was how they shaped their fate.

"Yes Ver'ika I understand that, but perhaps it is because war doesn't make my blood boil. I can do battle but there has to be some reprieve some reminder that what we do is for a reason other than just to make war. Do you know what I mean?" It was important that they understand each other and their positions if they were still planning a future together they had to know each other's mind, so that support of one another was easy, simple, honest.

"I know Arl'ika. I understand. We all need a break from time to time. I suppose that I am feeling that more now than ever. I guess I have just invested so much in our wars, that it is all I know now. I've had a long career. It's tiring."

She nodded perhaps he did understand it wasn't that she wanted to forget war, or not participate in it, she only knew that she needed a break from it. It was a condition that took much of the energy and thoughts of any mandalorian.

But they had to have time to build to, perhaps that was why there were times she looked at buir's wife she was building things for the Vod, that's what Arla wanted to, to build something that would stand and help any one that needed it.

"Perhaps we can roast the shatual with our brothers and sisters later to celebrate life, what say you to that Ver'ika?"

"I say we should roast some shatual. It will be a good feast!"

Very looked down to Mirdala, who was currently sniffing around the various debris on the forest floor, looking for any scent trails. Verz patted the beast' s head.

"Go find them Mirdala! Oya!"

At its master's urging, the strill bounded forward, searching for their prey.

Arla watched Mirdala bound off she seemed happiest when running. "She's happier here on the ground than she ever was in space" Green eyes tracked Mirdala's movements Arla had never hunted with a strill before so this would be interesting.

There was a bit of silence between them but it was not the uncomfortable type, it was them being with their own thoughts.

Verz followed the sniffing still through the underbrush, feeling the silence between him and Arla. The two had fallen into a hunter's state of mind, listening to what the forest had to tell them. The birds sang in the warming morning, animals started their never ending quest for food, and Mirdala sniffed at some shatual droppings, trying to ascertain the direction the creature left in. Verz listened to the wind in the trees, carrying birdsong, warmth, and the scent of the forest.

Quiet, they were hunting. Words between them stopped as they began to stalk their prey. Mirdala seemed to be onto something as she moved through the forest, Arla only watched her.

Green eyes looked ahead, and around just in case there were wild creatures about and spooking them would spook the shatual. Arla took careful steps and halted.
