Private Crossing Paths Once Again

Location: Coruscant Temple

Kat had arrived several hours early to the training areas of the Jedi Temple, the early hours allowed her to get rid of any residual hangovers from the previous night while also working out, honing her skills in the Echani combat forms. Using an Echani staff that she had created herself instead of the Lightsaber, just to feel like she was back home, back before she joined the Jedi. Some days she trained with her Lightsaber but some days it was nice to reconnect with her old self even if it was just a moment. Repeating the movements, ensuring her body was being pushed hard and that she was developing the muscles and figure she had once had. While Kat was never the bulkiest person around, her muscles had always been well defined and she had been in great shape, more recently with her trips away and focusing only on healing, she had lost that definition.

Sweat dripping from her brow, Kat panted a little as she thought about whether she was ready to do this again. To push herself into war. She had been getting to know the people around New Jedi Order and there was a growing protectiveness inside her but she also feared what would happen to her. Perhaps that was the issue now, not necessarily losing herself to bloodlust and war but the fear that was controlling her over it. Chewing the inside of her cheek, Kat realised that she could stop the fear taking control of her life and that if she ever wanted to be a Jedi again, fear couldn't be holding the grip it had on her heart. It was a good revelation to have while she fought, while she worked till her muscles were sore and body exhausted. Panting, she walked over to the towel she had and wiped the sweat from her body.

Throwing an oversized knitted jumper that exposed one shoulder, Kat switched from her shorts to tight but comfortable jeans. Her training bag containing her collapsible staff, clothing and water bottle hung from her shoulder. It was getting to a more reasonable hour so Kat decided a good time to wander the halls and see if any Padawans were potentially hanging around and looking for lessons on healing, it was always a possibility and one way to spend time at the Temple. As she wander, she felt a presence she hadn't in a very long time, to the point she had almost forgotten what the presence would be like but it struck at fond memories like a familiar perfume would. Following the Force presence to the location, Kat wanted to almost be wrong but at the same time she wanted to be right.

"Allyson Locke. What has got you wandering here again?" Kat called out as she spotted Allyson, having not seen her friend in who knows how long.

Once again, Allyson found herself surrounded by the sacred walls of the Jedi Temple. It was almost as if she had never left; everything seemed the same - forever frozen in time. Yet, the world around her was very different. No more were the familiar faces of those she had fought with; they had moved on or died. Allyson was frozen in time. Standing in the long hallway, she looked down at her hands. They were worn and tired but still seemed to be the hands of a twenty-nine-year-old woman, despite her actual age. Time stood still for the Corellian, and she was suddenly becoming aware of it.

A cold chill worked down her back, and Allyson welcomed the shudder that pulled her from her thoughts. There wasn't a good enough reason to worry about what would happen. That wasn't the Allyson Locke way of thinking; no, she needed to remain flying by the seat of her pants. Hands slapped against her cheeks a few times, allowing the woman to return to her full senses. It was a good wake-up call to bring the Corellian back to reality.

Allyson wandered a bit more, fully realizing how much she had missed while on her escapade. Padawans had become Knights and Knights to Masters. Everyone was different, but it was a good thing. It meant the Order was growing, flourishing in the face of adversity. She felt it, and she knew the others did as well - darkness clawed at their doorstep, even after pushing back as much as they had.

It didn't take her long to find a small bench that seemed to have been dedicated to a fallen Jedi. Allyson sat down and pressed her palms into the wood, feeling the strength of the craftsmanship. Whoever this belonged to, she wondered if she had known them and hoped that where they ended up was better than here. A voice broke through the mild musing as Allyson opened her naked eye and stared at the Echani woman a few yards away. Smiling, Allyson stood and adjusted the worn leather jacket that hung off her slender frame.

"Hey, Kat," She waved and made her way to meet the woman halfway, "Yeah, it's been a while." The Corellian laughed as she rubbed the back of her neck out of embarrassment. "You know me, I've never been good about staying away or keeping in touch. How've you been?" It was apparent Kat was growing up. Age showed on her face (in a good way), and Allyson was once more painfully aware of her current state of being.

Forever, twenty-nine.

How did Allyson always look so unchanged? She was older than Kat by a number of years and while Kat looked great for her age, one gift from her mother's youthful attractiveness, they looked a lot closer in age than they actually were. It also never helped that when they spent years apart, Allyson always seemed to drop in, look amazing and catch Kat at the most awkward of times. Fresh from a hard work out, with her hair tied up but a little damp from sweat. Why couldn't she have sensed or bumped into Allyson last night when she headed out wearing the two piece dress that her sister insisted she try on. When she looked her absolute amazing and not some sweaty gym rat. It was the universe punishing her for saying that making the effort to look attractive all day, every day was a waste of time.

"Nope, not great at inviting friends to your wedding either from what I heard." The infamous heartbreaker Allyson Locke finally getting married was news that spread, especially since Kat kept tabs on the whole thing, she wanted Allyson to be happy and seemed Taiia was doing that. As devastating as that was for her to admit. "Me? Spent some time on Zeltron, hanging around here offering occasional classes on healing and whatnot. Going on a few dates..." Was she hung up on Allyson? Sure, was she going to let Allyson know that? Absolutely not, if she could help it. Though Kat knew Allyson was the best Jedi Shadow out there so if anyone could figure out the truth it would be her. Perhaps her tells changed, it had been a long time since they were close so maybe Kat had new tells that gave her the edge in deceiving now.

Looking around, Kat couldn't see Taiia around, "short visit before you go back to married life or you fleeing it?" Kat asked with a slight teasing tone, Kat always said she would kick Allyson's butt and drag her back to Taiia if she ever thought the Corellian was running away from the best relationship in her life. "How is Taiia doing?" Kat asked in a more genuine tone. Breathing in deeply as she tucked a strand of white hair behind her ear. Lately Kat been holding a casual, flirty attitude around many dates and encounters but every time she was around Allyson, it always seemed to default to nervous young crush energy again. No matter how much older she had gotten or how much time had passed.
