Created Species: Why not use them?

[member="Lord Eclipsion"] If and when I create races, it is to use them as PCs or NPCs.

[member="Gilamar Skirata"] I'm pretty sure there is a Garrus in the Underground.

[member="Ghorumgash Khazund-Veranum"] I was thinking of doing a Space Dwarf species, now I won't. What is the name of this species?

A) why do we not see more players using those species?

The species a player chooses is up to them. It is as simple as that. Star Wars is rampant with species. There is something like 20,000,000 sentient species in the SW galaxy according to Wookieepedia. But most people play Humans or commonly seen species from the movies, comics or novels. It's a very simple answer, people be who they want to role-play. If that is a human who looks like Ryan Gosling, so be it.

Albeit, I myself chose this custom species for this character. I thought it was nice.

I tend to agree with [member="Jinelu D'ysedri"]. Star Wars is already an incredibly diverse universe. A good amount of the lore created for it (whether you consider it canon or not at this point) is largely unexplored. Species, vessels, planets, tech, there's so much there to be explored I have a difficult time reconciling the use of anything foreign to the universe.

At the same time, folks express creativity in a lot of different ways. And if you're here roleplaying anything, my guess is you have some creativity to spare. If someone's method requires them to make their own stamp on the galaxy with Factory/Codex creation, that's awesome. Just from a personal perspective, I tend towards established Star Wars lore.

It feels good to create and add expand onto the starwars universe. Im a De'Nochsax a massive reptile species and ive seen 1 other writer who has used the same species. It feels good to see your creation being used differently.

But as to why people dont use created species? idk really it makes for interesting interactions i think and i wish more people did pick a created race rather than pick some humanoid.
