OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: A book teaching an interesting canon ability and extrapolating from it.
  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: Sith stone ritual

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Media Name: Crafting from the Stone Ritual
  • Format: Holobook
  • Distribution: Rare (available in large or well-curated Sith libraries)
  • Length: Short
  • Description: The introduction of this straightforward, plainspoken holobook explains the history and use of the Sith stone ritual, which turns a target into stone and leaves their spirit trapped for eternity. The bulk of the book explains how to use the resulting stone as a crafting material, with a dominant focus on smelting the stone into usable metal.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Author: Azel Moran
  • Publisher: Self-published in a small batch.
  • Reception: Depends entirely on the Sith who read it. Considering it explains a niche, virtually unknown Sith ritual and then expands upon it, some alchemists and ritualists may respect Azel's work.

FORMAT INFORMATION
The holobook presents a mix of text, audio/visual recordings, and still images.

CONTENT INFORMATION
  • Introduction: How to perform the Sith stone ritual, and its history.
  • Part One: The chemical composition and physical characteristics of the resulting stone statue. Azel's finding that the spirit stays trapped even as the statue is broken into widely separated pieces. Azel's finding that reducing the statue to gravel/sand will annihilate the spirit into the Force, but otherwise the spirit feels 'present' in as many places as there are pieces. Speculation about the nature of consciousness and the uses of a being (however trapped) who exists in more than one place. Speculation that Force Light would annihilate the spirit without the need to completely destroy the statue. Notes on technical aspects of carving the stone.
  • Part Two: Smelting the stone and extracting relatively small amounts of useful base metals. Azel's finding that reducing the discarded slag to gravel/sand will trap the entire spirit in the resulting metal. Azel's finding that one stone body will typically produce enough metal for an alchemical dagger, amulet, etc., within which the helpless spirit remains trapped.
  • Part Three: Speculation on the possible results and uses of combining several such metal sources/souls. Speculation that a spirit could be 'freed' by turning its stone body's metal into components for a Sith construct or properly alchemized droid. Minor anecdote about a Leviathan of Corbos eating a statue and absorbing the soul into its blister traps.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Azel wrote the bulk of this book from his own research notes. A longtime client, a mysterious little alien called the Elder, had gifted him the Sith stone ritual and asked him to learn what could be learned. Once Azel finished the job, he turned his notes and recordings into a holobook format, with the Elder's blessing and assistance.
