The Cortosis Lacquer is just that. A coating of cortosis dust mixed into liquid form to be forged over existing items or painted on to them, granting a limited resistance to Lightsabers and granting it some ability to short out lightsabers, though less than actual cortosis. The lacquer is simple, being applied much like liquid latex. It is not resistant to anything but light lighsaber strikes, and doesn't provide what ever it is applied to resistance. The heat from the blade will still melt the metal, or burn the cloth it is applied to, and doesn't really provide protection in and of itself. It is applied mainly for the chance of shorting out lightsaber blades, as slim as that chance may be given the fact that the Lacquer is not pure Cortosis or as high surface area as normal cortosis blades.
Overall, this lacquer is used to add a small utility to existing things, normally of unique production, or extremely limited production, as the Cortosis is better used in larger amounts in other products, and the items in question are irreversibly altered once applied, the lacquer cannot be removed, or the salvaged off the blade, nor the blade salvaged.
