PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Corin Vale is an unremarkable human male of average height and weight, blending into the background so thoroughly that it becomes noticeable in itself. The apparent effort to seem unnoteworthy and avoid attention seems intentional. Corin dresses very bland, lets his black hair hang loose and never lets his facial hair grow to a point that it would draw attention. His entire look is tailored to blend in.
In his dark eyes there's a tired determination, as though he's always one last hill from his destination or one last flight of stairs from finally resting. It's evident in the way he carries himself too, as Corin walks with a sense of duty, an eagerness to finish his task and move on to the next or, if at the end of the day, go back to his bunk and sleep.
Around those he trusts, the exhaustion softens almost immediately. He smiles easier, speaks more freely, and carries himself with a warmth otherwise absent from his demeanor. He seems to chase these moments of mirth, letting each emotion flow through him in an effort to cherish every fleeting second of positivity before cocooning himself back into his self-protective shell of manufactured anonymity.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Corin's holds true to the belief that the nail that sticks out gets hammered. In public or in the workplace, Corin tends to simply do his job to the best of his ability, but makes no effort to seek greater acclaim or glory in anything he does. If he takes a job, it's because it's the one that pays the most. If it gets him more work, that's fine. Corin isn't looking to shake hands or win awards, he simply wants to go home at the end of the day.
A belief that hard work is rewarded is one that Corin does not share. In his experience, hard work just gets you more work, and that's proved true time and time again. As he earned himself a reputation as an expert engineer and technician, Corin found himself on longer jobs on more dangerous ships during brutal conflicts. It's because of these situations, and the knowledge of those with mad powers, that Corin developed a type of camouflage. Wear the uniform, look mundane, escape notice. During work jobs, however, Corin takes his job incredibly seriously. The safety of his team is in part in his hands and the loss of a single life haunts him. He feels responsible for his crew, and is determined to see everyone home.
As a ship systems technician and engineer, Corin treasures the 'human' element of work. He doesn't like droids working on a ship he's working on, as he views their work as insufficient. You'd need four droids to do the work of one Engineer. An astro-mech can reroute power, open a door. Labor droids can replace parts, but an organic mechanic can do it all. That spark of creation is something Corin values.
Just do your job.
It's all anyone expects of you.
Do it well enough, and maybe everyone gets to go home.
STRENGTHS
Adaptive Problem Solving - Working on derelict ships as a glorified scrapper as well as serving as an active starship engineer have trained Corin to view problems from an outside angle. His analytical mind allows him to identify unconventional solutions others might overlook. This type of thinking serves him well in any prospective combat situation where direct conflict is suicidal, but being adaptive can keep you alive. Corin doesn't fight people, he fights the situation.
Pragmatic Loyalty - Corin may seem detached and uncaring, but he takes every assignment and crew he's on seriously. Once he commits to an idea or a person, he's committed 100%. He'd volunteer to save the life of someone on his crew that he'd never spoken to before, and would stay behind to seal a breach because someone has to do it.
WEAKNESSES
Poor Delegator - Corin believes the best hands are his own in any situation. If he can fix something, then he must fix something. This leads to him burning himself out trying to single handedly restore a ship to working order. He's accustomed to fixing mistakes left by careless workers or inadequate droids, which makes him controlling during technical operations. He often takes on too much personally because he believes others will do the job incorrectly.
Conflict Avoidance - Corin dislikes unnecessary confrontation and often chooses silence over argument, especially with superiors or strangers. While this helps him avoid attention, it can also allow problems to grow unchecked. He sometimes tolerates unfair treatment or dangerous conditions longer than he should simply because pushing back would make him visible.
HISTORY
Corin was born on Corellia forty-ish years ago to a family of mechanical engineers that worked for the Corellian Engineering Corporation, and it was in this environment that Corin got his passion for working on ships. From a young age he decided he did not want to stay on Corellia, determined to go out into the stars and explore the galaxy.
Corin went to a CEC Trade School and received the necessary certificates to begin working in the shipyards where he quickly rose to prominence as a resourceful and quick thinking engineer. His innovative and unconventional repair solutions earned him plenty of accolades, and it was not long before Corin was offered a chance to work as a member of Corellia's merchant marines making short haul trips to Corellia's trade partners.
Working in space, mending ship systems and seeing more of the galaxy was a good start for Corin in his twenties, but the routine quickly became boring to him. During this time, Corin began to slowly stagnate in his career. The certainty of his work became mundane, and Corin no longer felt stimulated.
Then, Corin joined the Kestrel Industrial Recovery Group, a Corporation that handled derelict and damaged ships in space, salvaging and repairing broken ships across the galaxy. This new environment challenged and excited Corin, as every new situation was different. Every new problem had a different solution, every new job was at a new location.
However the dangerous situations he found himself in eventually caught up to him and a dangerous and devastating accident occured.
Working on a ship in the far reaches of space, Corin volunteered to EVA outside the ship, allowing other workers to handle inside repairs. A junior engineer restored power to a damaged section before Corin finished sealing the exterior breach, venting half the deck into vacuum and costing the lives of several members of Corin's crew.
This terrible accident haunted Corin, and he slowly lost the passion he once had for the work. He treated every job as just that, a job. But one he was determined to see everyone come home from.
