DESCRIPTION
As the war against the Sith Empire rages and with the callous reprisal of the Eternal Empire at Byss, Coruscant found itself in an interesting position. While it was true that they could rely on the Defence Forces of the Galactic Alliance to protect the very world the government calls home, there were concerns regarding their deployment. Thus, the Galactic City Authority, the governing body of Coruscant and a council of Planetary Administrators, began the monumental effort of resurrecting the Coruscant Guard. The Guard would act as the planet’s own defence force, and would solely recruit from the masses of patriotic locals. While this brief historical overview offers little insight into how the organization operates, those details would be doubtlessly become apparent at another time.

Every new endeavour should begin with some snazzy threads, so, the City Authority believed that their friends in the Republic Engineering Corporation could help them out in that regard. Thus, the CorGuard Regular’s Battle Dress was born. Intended to act in ceremonial and combat scenarios for both the surface and space branches, the armoured uniform was capable of being outfitted to meet the needs of many species but retained a similar design aesthetic across the countless iterations. This meant that every Soldier within the CorGuard would be protected in the line of duty against every conceivable threat they would face whilst defending the trillions of lifeforms that called their planet home. Naturally, that protection could only be further enhanced through the addition of external equipment that wasn’t included with the uniform, but the Planetary Administrators believed that would be a problem for another day.

When it came to the design of the Battle Dress itself, the Galactic City Authority blended several factors into its structural composition. Firstly, they wanted a suit of armour that wasn’t in use by the Galactic Alliance and their Defence Forces, as they would operate independently from their Federal Counterparts. Secondly, they wanted the armour to have ties to the rich history that Coruscant offered, and elected to reinvigorate the Ancient Republic’s scarlet and gold aesthetic. And finally, they wanted the CorGuard’s battle dress to be both fashionable and functional - as there would’ve been little point in favouring one aspect over the other. Not only did they have to perform well on the urban battlefields of Coruscant, but they had to look good too.

No one would support the idea of faceless automatons and stormtroopers stalking their streets when friendly faces cloaked in scarlet and gold would do.

The armour was composed of several layers, with the first being that which encapsulated the entirety of one’s being. As the armourweave bodyglove and the additional thermal gel packets formed the foundations, the second layer was formed of various insulating materials and micronized armourplast plates - something akin to the ancient scale mail(s) of a long lost period in Galactic History. The final layer was less fascinating, in terms of the materials that went into its design, as the woven threads were nothing more than a fabric overlay to shroud the previous layers from sight. When combined together, the three layers of composite materials would offer an unparalleled measure of protection, when alone - those layers could do little to safeguard the lives of those wearing the Battle Dress.

With the partially armoured bodyglove composing a majority of the outfit, there was potential for additional items to be added to enhance the armoured fabric’s potential. The sloped helmet that came with the set featured a retractable and polarized visor that would assist the Soldier in their duties, and work to shield their eyes from intense flares of illumination. There were also a set of retractable comms systems built into the helmet as well, which could be deployed during combat scenarios. These devices would also assist the Guardsman in resisting the deadly nature of sonic attacks by dampening their transmission. Naturally, the powerful the device, the more likely it was for the safeguard to fail. From there, the Battle Dress was outfitted with reinforced gauntlets and greaves, allowing them to turn aside potentially fatal blows in melee combat - and keep more portions of their body safe from bodily harm.

... but the Planetary Administrators believed that would be a problem for another day.

Looks like a bit of Politics 101 slipped into your submission.

Approved.

Sorry, looks like I was being an idiot - the Model field is currently empty, likewise with the Heavy variant. Please fill it and I'll re-approve it right away. For the record, the Image Credit link leads to a somewhat different image, but it's still clearly the same series by the same artist so it's not a huge deal.
