OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: Coretroopers
  • Affiliation:
  • Classification:
    • Infantry
    • Shock Troops
  • Description: The collapse of the Galactic Alliance produced millions of refugees across the galaxy, many of which who decided to flee the expanding Galactic Empire rather than live under a brutally oppressive regime. Though most of these refugees were civilians, some Alliance soldiers also decided to make the difficult decision to leave their homeworlds and venture forth into lesser known regions. They traveled in all directions, with a good amount of them finding refugee on Mahporeem. Safe from the fighting in the Core Worlds and burning with a desire for revenge, these former Alliance soldiers have decided to fight under the banner of the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant so that they might be given the chance to strike back at the Empire and liberate their now occupied homeworlds.
COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Unit Size: Medium, despite the distance between the Core Worlds and Mahporeem, a sizable number of Alliance soldiers have managed to make their way into Imperial Remnant space. This may be by design since Mahporeem is relatively far away from the active fighting in the Core Worlds, meaning that it is fairly safe from being attacked by the Empire.
  • Unit Availability: Uncommon, Coretroopers are drawn entirely from those fleeing the expansion of the Galactic Empire, meaning that their numbers tend to fluctuate on a near daily basis.
  • Unit Experience: Trained, though individual unit experience tends to vary greatly from soldier to soldier. Many Coretroopers only received cursory training before being thrown against the Galactic Empire, though the Imperial Remnant is working to remedy any training deficiencies.
  • Equipment: Coretroopers tend to receive "hand me down" gear from the Imperial Remnant, as Mahporeem has historically struggled with producing adequate numbers of contemporary era weapons and equipment for the soldiers under its command. Even with Imperial Confederation assistance, Coretroopers often had to make do with antiquated or obsolete designs, or with whatever they might have brought with them as they fled the expansion of the Empire.
  • Combat Function: Being recruited from those fleeing the Galactic Empire's persecution, Coretroopers are deployed exclusively against the Empire and her allies, as any other enemy that Coretroopers might otherwise face would not illicit the same level of response that fighting the Empire does. Though the Imperial Remnant shares the same common enemy with Coretroopers, their coexistence is more due to practical considerations than ideological agreements, and the so called working relationship that Coretroopers have with the Imperial Remnant is tenuous at best. As such, forcing Coretroopers to fight non-Empire enemies would most likely result in mass desertions and possible rebellion against the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant. In exchange for getting the chance to fight the Empire however, Coretroopers have been witnessed displaying an almost fanatical hatred of their enemy, and will often go to great lengths to ensure that the Empire is defeated no matter the costs, even if said costs end up being the Coretrooper's very own life. It should be noted that Coretroopers have special permission to use the Rebel Crest on their armor, something that would normally illicit a great deal of prison time for anyone else utilizing the symbol.
  • Force Abilities (Force User Units Only): N/A
Strengths:
  • Fanatical: Having witnessed the destruction of the largest democratic faction in all the galaxy, Coretroopers are often fanatically opposed to the Galactic Empire, to the point that many are willing to sacrifice themselves if it means the eventual defeat of their hated foes
  • Manpower: Their is no shortage of those who wish to see the destruction of the Galactic Empire, meaning that Mahporeem's pool of Coretroopers is unlikely to run out in the near future.
Weaknesses:
  • Fanatical: The fact that the Galactic Empire destroyed the Galactic Alliance means that those serving as Coretroopers will NOT fight any other enemies of the Imperial Remnant, since most Coretroopers have no quarrel with other factions within the greater galaxy.
  • Supply chain issues: The massive influx of new troops has made the supply chain issues affecting the Imperial Remnant even more pronounced, meaning that Coretroopers are often equipped with inferior weapons and equipment.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Though it may have been inevitable, the speed in which the Galactic Alliance fell apart shocked the entire galaxy. The Galactic Empire quickly moved in to fill the power vacuum left behind by the destruction of the Alliance, creating a refugee crisis not seen in centuries. Those fleeing the Empire quickly went in all directions, hoping to put as much distance between them and the Empire as possible.

Some of those who ended up fleeing found themselves on Mahporeem, which had assisted Alliance forces on numerous occasions in their failed fight against the forces of the Empire. Safe from the fighting in the Core Worlds and burning with a desire for revenge, the former Alliance soldiers who had made their way to Mahporeem decided to fight under the banner of the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant, as long as that meant they had a chance to strike back against the forces of the Galactic Empire.

This was exactly what Mahporeem allowed them to do, since the Imperial Remnant itself has suffered from chronic manpower shortages for decades. Those who decided to fight were given whatever weapons and equipment that the Imperial Remnant had on hand and sent to fight the Empire and her allies, with the intent to stop the spread of the Empire's influence once and for all.

Coretroopers look quite similar to Junktroopers save for the fact that they are permitted to use the Rebel Crest on their armor, something that would normally illicit long prison terms for anyone else attempting to use the symbol. Coretroopers are also generally segregated from Imperial units and are allowed to be lead by former Alliance Officers, though even these unusual divisions are subject to Imperial orders at the end of the day. Many Coretroopers believe this bargain to be worth it, as they now have been given a second chance to strike back against the Empire. Should they someday defeat the Empire however, what happens next remains to be seen.
