Converting to a Warriors Faith (Mandos)

Location: Mandalore, Outside Keldabe

Twas a new start for Vassara. Finally she was putting down roots. In a strange new way she felt very good about it. After a recent trip to Mandalore she had decided this was her place. Something here called to her in ways other places did not. For once not even deep space could sway her to travel no more.

She stood in a green grassy field, on her newly purchased farm. It was only a few small acres of rich land, a small house with a workshop on the side. Something she could use to tinker and make toys with. The sun was high it was mid day, a cool breeze carried the smell of the fields freshly cut grass into her nostrils.

She was stepping out of the ring of the Jedi world. Retreating from the endless grind against the Sith that seemed to go nowhere. Recently she had enlisted in the standing fores of Mandalore. The Red Legion. It was a start until she could break into the culture some more. But that required trust and trust came with time.

She sat on her porch, in a wooden rocking chair. A cup of stimcaf in her hand. She was expecting visitors today. Fellow travelors, perhaps a few of the Mando'ade would come by as well....

Kiber had seen someone rather unusual on Mandalore recently and she did not look like anyone he had ever seen before. He decided to find out more about her, so asked around and found out that she was Vassara Raxis. It was a quiet and relaxing day for the bounty hunter; no one needed killing, so he decided to pay her a visit and welcome her to his homeworld. Preparing his Joben T-85 Speeder, Kiber followed most of the directions to a farm on the outskirts. Arriving in quick time, he saw someone sitting on the porch.

"That must be her," Kiber said quietly, as he walked up the path and unlocked the front gate, closing it behind him. He stood at the foot of the stairs and introduced himself.

"Hello Miss Raxis. My name is Kiber Thaxton," he replied, taking in his surroundings; he had not been on a farm for several years now.

Kiber. Yes this was the one she had faced off against not so long ago. She remmbered his look, the armor, the way he even moved. For a second she had half a mind to jump up and charge him. He had stolen her map!

Still it was all good fun and the adventure turned out to be worth it. For now she was content just to meet another soul. She was no more in the spotlight of the Jedi and laid down her Warden duties for a while. This was as great atime as any to make friends.

Vassara smiled, pulling up the secondd rocking chair and waving him over.

"Welcome to my new house Mr.Thraxton. Glad you could stop by. Would you like a drink?"

As soon as he heard her voice, Kiber remembered - it was she who gave him the feeling of uneasiness while on the abandoned ship. He sat down in the chair next to her and politely accepted the drink. It was unusual wearing civilian clothes, but the weather was too hot for armour.

"I would love a drink. I am rather thirsty to tell the truth," he replied, looking out across her farmland.

"And I am glad I stopped by as well. What brings you to Mandalore, if I may ask?" Kiber had always been the curious type.

Vassara emerged from the door way with two beers, one in each hand and handed the younger man one. It was a local brew, right from the breweries in the city. Normally a Jedi was not supposed to drink, but hey she was a warrior now. As she sat back down in the creaky old chair she felt the wind rustle her hair, and sting her eyes a bit. A storm was moving in from somewhere, she could fell it.

She turned after taking a massive swig, regarding Kiber with her piercing blue eyes.

"I got caught up in a recent battle here. I was impressed by Mandalorian culture and so decided this would be my home, my final resting place. For the first time in a while I feel like I belong. I can be a warrior here and stop having to worry about everyone else."

She took another sip, still rocking in her chair. She could see passers-by on the road going dutifully about their business, hauling gods to the market in old carts.

"I enlisted in the Red Legion. Figured I'd serve there for a while until I am able to prvoe my merit and get picked up into a clan. You?"

Ashtah, Or Blight, as she was sometimes known walked along the path outside Keldabe. It had been years since she had been in Mandalorian space, and it felt good to be back. She had spent years gone, pursuing her dreams, travelling the stars, and almost forgetting what it was to be Mandalorian. But she was back now. And meant to stay. She saw a house in the distance, a farm by the looks of it. She wondered if it was run by a Fett, or if one of the other clans had decided to try their hand at farming. She decided to head toward it, see if she could take a little break from her walk. She was dressed in her armor, Beskar'gam, with her custom made pistols at her side, and her favorite carbine on her back.

They said equipment was good but humans were better. An old warriors Maxim. Vassara could spot the young woman across her fields the second she entered. Those hawkish eyes locked with hers in the distance. The sun was gleaming off the young womans Beskar'Gam, giving her a slightly shiny aura. There seemed to be no shortage of visitors today.

"Oya, come on up, Ner'Vod!" She roared across the fields.

Giving Kiber a pat on the shoulder she rose and retreated to the kitchen. Her black boots stirred up some dust in small clouds as she walked across the rough hewn floorboards. She'd needed to clean this place and soon. A few moments later she emerged, another tankard of beer in her hand, and a passive smile upon her devilish features.

(Young? I'm older than you!)

"Thats what I had planned!" Blight called back as she approached the housing, offering a friendly wave and a smile. She leaned against the house wall and accepted the tankard with a smile, clapping Vassara on the shoulder "My thanks. Ashtah. Ashtah Ordo, and you are?"

Ashtah extended her hand out in greeting, before looking over at the other Mandalorian, Nodding in greeting at him before she took a long sip of her beer, smiling contentedly, shoulder her carbine off she placed it on teh floor leaning agianst the wall

"Do you see this tattoo on the back of my hand? It is how you identify my clan," Kiber said, pointing to the crossed beskad and kal tattoo.

"Clan Thaxton is one of the most highly respected clans in the homeworld. It actually came about due to the merging of two clans; Thax and Ton, which is where my surname comes from. My mother - " Kiber stopped halfway, feeling himself choke up with emotion at the memories of his deceased mother, who had been killed while on a, unknown to her at the time, prearranged bounty hunt against her sworn enemy.

"My mother was the first leader of Clan Ton and one of the finest bounty hunters in the galaxy. She married our father, who was the leader of Clan Thax at the time and brought the two together," Kiber said proudly, remembering the happy times he shared with his mother.

"But enough about the past. So how are you finding life in the Legion? Nearly all of my childhood friends are Legionnaires and I have to be honest, a little bit jealous of the fame and glory that comes with being a bounty hunter," he said with a chuckle.

"Welcome Ashta, I'm Vassara Raxis, used to be a wandering Jedi, but now I'm settling down, taking my talents in another direction."

She took another sip of her beer, casting her eyes between Kiber and Ashta as they bantered. When he asked how life in the Legion was she laughed out loud. Another grin broke her face.

"Nothing to be jelous of. It's the Red Legion, where all the outsiders get put to prove their merit. I should be jealous of you, a full blown Mando'ad. That's where I want to be someday. Raise a clan, make Rally Master, and leave legacy."

She turned to Ashtah. The sun was beggining to set even farther, casting a dim shadow across the fields, and a cool breeze upon the air.

"What are your plans Ashta?"

"Raising your own clan? Well, if it comes to pass that it occurs and you want a full-blooded Mando on your side, I will gladly offer my services to you," he said with a smile.

Kiber turned to Blight and eyed her carbine closely; he often took a carbine out on some of his bounty hunts as a last resort if things became too hot to handle and he needed more firepower.

"I'm glad to see another Mando has made their way back home. And you've been travelling around like me?," he said to Blight, curious as to where she had been in the galaxy.

Blight turned and nodded at him "Yeah I've been gone too long from the home lands, It's time I came back" She offered a tight lipped smile, gazing out over the fields of mandalore that sorrounded them, It was good to be home she decided. She remembered when she had left, so many years ago, wide eyed and adventorous wanting to explore the galaxy and make a name for her self...She had been someone else then, before she found the reality of life

Kiber smiled. "What did you do after you left? I went down the path of the bounty hunter and am still on that path to this day. But I decided it was time to come home and take a break from the hustle of flying around the galaxy - recharging my battery if you will," he finished his drink.

[member="Kiber Thaxton"]

"I did likewise, though I think i'll give up on the hunting. It's time I gave back to those whove given so much to me" She said softly, a hint of wistfullness in her tone as she sipped at her beer, enjoying the small rest from her walk, and especially in such pleasant company

Kiber nodded sagely. "That is a noble thing you will be doing Blight and I deeply commend you for it. I have to say, for me at least, it has been nigh impossible to get the hunter out of my blood - it will be a hunter until the day I die. In fact, what path have you decided to walk now?" the idea of a Mandalorian doing something other than bounty huntung was equally strangely foreign and deeply interesting to him.

Blight laughed softly, understanding the sentiment well "First Responder actually. I've got more than my fair share of medical training patching myself up, and I'll be using it to help my clan's warrior's stay in the fight. Never know when a decent medic will come in hand. 'Dition to that I'm also a pilot, so i'll likely be handling medivacs and such activities"

Kiber smiled. "I am so glad to meet another Mandalorian pilot. I loved flying when I was a little Mando, and during one of my rests from bounty hunting, they enlisted me to fly assault transports, the most dangerous assignment out there," he had served for two years in the military, and had found it an interesting escape from bounty hunting, but the thrill of the hunt remained in his blood even then.
